Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 816: Endless Night

Chapter 816: Chapter 816: Endless Night

The orbit had quieted down again, and no one left the group anymore. After an unknown amount of time, some players had recovered enough strength to start wondering why it still wasn’t dawn.

"It’s already eight o’clock in the morning," other members of the group said as they turned their gaze toward the train conductor.

A staff member explained on their behalf, "Not every space abides by the rules of day and night."

In other words, the length of day and night in some spaces does not change according to a fixed pattern, and not all spaces even have a division between day and night.

"Will there be any problems if we stay in the dark for a long time?" the female player with Pink Hair asked.

"It’s negligible for players."

With those words from the staff, the crowd’s minds were somewhat relieved. Apparently restless from sitting by the track for too long, someone suggested, "Shall we go see what’s nearby?"

"Why?" Duck Tongue Cap asked curiously, "Did you not see two people die earlier? You still want to run off into the distance for what?"

"It’s right next to the track. Who knows? There might be some material here that’s not available in other game zones," the player argued. "Just bringing back one or two items would definitely fetch a high price!"

Special Ore is generally popular in any game zone that’s a bit more advanced, especially in places near the track that typical players can’t reach. Whether it has research value or not, there are plenty of people willing to buy it for their collection.

"Birds die for food; people die for money. Good luck then," Duck Tongue Cap said.

The bald player scoffed and continued to persuade others, but ultimately only two people were swayed.

The threesome walked along the track.

"Is there anything wrong with this track?" the curly-haired female player couldn’t help asking when she saw some movement in the distance.

"The track is fine," Xu Huo said. "As long as you don’t leave the track, you’re safe."

It’s widely acknowledged that the space near the track is complex, filled with unpredictable dangers that were practically impossible to tally. However, since the train passed through here, the track amounted to a safe zone, absolutely safe from any Aliens.

"What kind of dangers are out there beyond the track?" Yan Jiayu glanced down into a deep pit and casually tossed a lollipop down.

To the naked eye, the pit seemed no deeper than twenty meters, but the time it took for the lollipop to fall and its size upon impact was completely different from the data they "saw."

"Is there something wrong with my eyes?" the short-haired female player who watched the scene questioned, "That pit doesn’t seem as deep as it was before."

"Near the track, that’s normal," the older man explained. "What people can see directly with their eyes is very one-sided. This place might look like similar pits, but the spatial density might be different for each. Don’t even think about exploring down there, and it’s best not to touch it at all."

He specifically glanced at Yan Jiayu at this point.

Yan Jiayu quickly took out a Prop and snapped a photo as a keepsake.

"’The old man is telling you not to be reckless,’" Jinxed Appearance couldn’t help saying.

"I know," Yan Jiayu nodded vigorously, showing a very positive attitude towards admitting his error, "I won’t do this again."

"It’s also not as serious as all that," Xu Huo said. "The space near the track is relatively stable. The fact that this place hasn’t been destroyed by the Dimensional Storm shows this, but whether the spaces far from the track are habitable is another matter."

"Then we can’t do anything for these three days," the curly-haired female player took out a deck of cards. "Since there’s nothing else, let’s just play a game."

The male players nearby immediately became interested. They gathered around to inquire about the rules and finally chose one. Several people sat down together to play.

The group had diverse playing methods. Xu Huo didn’t participate. The elderly man chose not to play, explaining he was too old and didn’t have enough energy, which surprised many as the woman who knitted also joined the game.

However, since they were playing, they definitely had stakes, and they wagered food and water.

Other players, taking their lead, also started to gather people for gambling.

Just as the atmosphere grew lively for a couple of hours, suddenly someone noticed something moving near the area illuminated.

The train conductor immediately sent a small flying Prop over there; it turned out it was Gray Fish— the body of water where the Gray Fish lived had moved close to them.

"Has the space moved? Are we in danger? What if it brings a space with Aliens here?" some players panicked.

"No, this water is right next to the track. Didn’t it get affected by the Dimensional Storm?"

"Hey, it’s just water, even if there was a hole, it has now been filled!"

The crowd discussed noisily, and Xu Huo and others also stood up and walked forward—they soon found that the area with Gray Fish that existed before the storm was now within their field of light.

This was not a good sign.

Stable and unchanging spaces are safer for players. This body of moving water indicated that other areas might be moving too. Moving spaces are variables and therefore unstable.

The train staff apparently thought the same, as the train conductor turned to tell the crowd, "Go find those three idiots and don’t let them stray from the track. If someone gets swallowed by moving spaces, it’s a minor issue, but if it causes a butterfly effect, everyone may die. There’s no second train to shield us now!"

The crowd listened and was both outrageously angry and terrified as they continued walking along the track.

"Weren’t you saying that the area near the track is stable?" Pink Hair walked up to the train conductor.

"Maybe there was a change in the Dimensional Storm that caused this result," the train conductor said patiently, also explaining to others, "Near the track, any change is possible. Of course, the movement of space doesn’t only bring bad things. Maybe the Tickets will come in handy soon."

The group was slightly cheered by this and moved on, energized. The staff leading the way turned back and said, "The Prop didn’t detect any signs of life. They’ve walked quite a distance away."

"I thought they were idiots, but I didn’t realize they were this dumb," Duck Tongue Cap said.
