Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 634: Save Others or Save Yourself

Chapter 634: Chapter 634: Save Others or Save Yourself

"Son of a bitch!" Minister Fan pounded the table furiously, "Those damned bastards can’t do one decent thing in a day!"

"Country Y is in a dire situation; of course, they don’t hope for us to transition smoothly. Moreover, now that a new energy overlay zone has emerged, their high-level artifacts must have come from trades, right? Now who wouldn’t be green with envy?" Director Chang’s voice was chilling, "Occupation and plundering are engraved in their genes, handed down from their ancestors. It would be weird if they weren’t causing trouble."

"Find that person immediately!" Minister Fan commanded, "Spare no expense!"

"The enemy has high-level artifacts; I’m afraid they won’t be so easily dealt with." Chief Wu spoke into the phone, "Can we persuade Li Chun to help?"

"I’ve already sent someone to contact her," Nie Xuan replied, "David Pierce provided some clues, and I’ve contacted the armed police to search for the person. However, the rain has already started, and even if we find him, we can’t change the situation for now. The key is to prepare for the imminent alien tide."

"That’s already being taken care of. You have only one task, and that is to catch the lurking players!" Having said that, Minister Fan hung up the phone.

The sound of gunfire was incessant outside; soon, a military-clad person walked in, "Minister, the temporary command center can’t hold out. We need to prepare to evacuate!"

Minister Fan walked to the door and saw all sorts of vehicles formed into a wall outside the command center. Special Defense Department members and arriving rescue personnel held their ground on top of the vehicles. Their guns hardly stopped firing. Both the front and back rows of defenders minimized even the gap needed to reload. Despite this, facing the unending waves of aliens still seemed like a drop in the bucket.

The vehicles at the front had been pounded out of shape, some even breached, forcing Special Defense Department members to fill the gaps with their bodies. They needed to swap guns and reload; artifacts and special abilities needed time to activate, but the frenzied didn’t need to rest. They barely felt pain; unless it was a fatal wound, even if they were shot in the torso or had their legs blown off, they would still crawl up and bite!

"Ahhhh!" A rescue worker was bitten on the arm and thigh. If you couldn’t kill an alien in time, it would bite off chunks of flesh, and if you were unlucky enough to be bitten on the neck, you were almost beyond saving instantly.

The temporary command center was established close to the blockade line, so it was one of the first to get attacked by the rain-induced mutated people. In fact, the blockade had already been breached. Only a small area around the command center was fortified, attracting quite a few aliens, but many more had penetrated into the city, spreading out along both sides of the blockade.

"News from the research institute, these people can be saved," Director Lü approached Minister Fan from behind, his eyes cold. "But, how many of us have to die before that happens?"

The area around Special Defense Department Headquarters had already been nearly evacuated, which was a good thing. Even if aliens entered the region, they wouldn’t cause much harm, and it would be easier for cleanup. We could use weapons of mass destruction if we were willing, but that meant we had effectively given up on those currently suffering from the toxin-induced frenzy.

Rescue personnel had the vehicles ready and were urging them to get in. Minister Fan clenched his teeth and said, "I can’t make this decision alone; it needs to be reported to the higher-ups. But we can tell the military to prepare, drive all the frenzied people towards the headquarters!"

The staff of the temporary command center got into the vehicles, paving their way through with armored cars, and slowly drove towards the blockade line.

But just then, a thunderous explosion emanated from the direction of the Special Defense Department Headquarters building. The fifty-story building, under everyone’s gaze, shifted, tilted, and finally collapsed with a roar!

The Special Defense Department watched with hatred seething through their teeth, yet there was no choice but to turn around and leave.

Xu Huo also witnessed the collapse of the headquarters building. A massive cloud of dust billowed into the black rain, making the already murky visibility even worse; under the dim light, it was nearly impossible to see anything.

"The entire Special Defense Department building has been bombed!" Zheng Liang stared in shock, "This is like starting a world war!"

"What else do you think we’re doing right now?" Xu Huo, with his back to them, swiftly moved his gaze across several monitor screens.

The monitors, influenced by the aliens, now displayed only four screens with limited surveillance footage, yet he still saw Special Defense Department rescue personnel leading two children across the edge of the camera frame.

"I’m going out for a bit." As he put on his protective gear, he said to the others, "The security room won’t hold for much longer, there should be a swarm of feral rats nearby, use this time to find a safe place to move to."

"If I find a safe place first, I’ll contact you."

"We’ll go with you to do whatever you’re doing," Brother Liang immediately said, "We’ve all been rained on at least a little, and we’re okay so far, probably thanks to the antitoxin. It’s better to go out and do something than to hide here."

"I don’t mind if you guys want to go out and save people, but I can’t take you with me," Xu Huo directly stated, "You’re too slow."

Although everyone knew that sticking with Xu Huo was definitely the safest option, they understood that he didn’t want them slowing him down and reluctantly gave up the idea.

Equipped with his "oxygen supply," Xu Huo left the security room.

With wandering aliens in the vicinity, he quickly left the residential area, following the direction in which that Special Defense Department member had gone. He hadn’t walked far when he heard a young man and woman calling for help from the upper floors of a residential building.

Xu Huo only glanced at them before moving on; his "straight-line distance" ability allowed him to quickly search nearby streets, and soon he found the injured Special Defense Department member standing on top of a truck with two children, attempting to lift one of them into a third-floor window.

The two children wore raincoats that covered their faces, and another layer of protective gear on the outside—they appeared unpoisoned. In contrast, the player had black veins showing on her arms and neck, and her legs were bleeding profusely.

With their mouths covered by their hands, the children carefully tried to climb up while the woman helped. The sound of rain masked their movements, but no one on the upper floor responded, and a flowerpot knocked over from the balcony shattered, instantly drawing three aliens. They appeared to have been players transformed by the mutation, moving at incredible speeds!

"Women and children first!" The female player tossed one child up, then quickly drew a pink glowing stick and traced a pink circle around the truck. The first alien to step over the line immediately had its feet burned and, screaming in pain, lunged forward, clinging to the side of the truck.

"Hurry!" The child perched on the rail jumped into the balcony, and the woman lifted the second child, but an alien who had broken through the circle leaped on top of the truck. She had to choose between saving herself or the child.

With all her might, she jumped up, thrusting the child into the air, but as she fell back onto the truck roof, she pulled out her last grenade from her waist...

"Wait." Xu Huo appeared on the roof, held her hand, and raised the water cutter gun to shoot each of the three aliens in the forehead.
