Chapter 1209: Three New Cards

Chapter 1209: Chapter 1209: Three New Cards

Two legs stood stiffly on the ground, and the blood that gushed out sprayed outward in a jet-like manner, its color tinged with black.

Immediately afterward, the Cannibal Player spat a mouthful of blood, his arms—which had been about to lift—dropped limply. He stared at Xu Huo with shock and hatred, "When did you poison me!"

Xu Huo didn’t answer the question; instead, he said, "Tell me, what cards did you get?"

The Cannibal Player, weak all over, barely managed to hold his body upright, doing his best to avoid touching the surrounding secant lines. "If I tell you, will you let me go?"

Xu Huo slightly shifted his angle, blocking He Xiaoxiao’s view behind him, and promised, "I can. Having so many cards is useless to me; I just want to know what the card faces represent."

"Keep in mind, you only have one chance."

He raised his hand, his index finger lightly tapping the secant line ahead, causing one of the lines to tighten and shift to the Cannibal Player’s throat.

The Cannibal Player straightened his body in fear and quickly replied, "The first card is White Card 8, and the other two are Black Card 14 and White Card 19."

Black Card 14—Lin Qian had taken Black Card 14 from the player she killed, the same one as Xu Huo’s trigger. In such a short amount of time, the card couldn’t have changed hands twice; so one of them must be lying.

"And?" Xu Huo tugged on the line to remind him, then turned to glance at He Xiaoxiao, who was standing five meters away.

He Xiaoxiao’s expression shifted slightly, and she flashed him a smile.

Xu Huo turned his attention back to the person in front of him.

The Cannibal Player swallowed hard beside the sharp secant line. "Black Card 14 is a Draw Card, but I don’t know what it draws—I haven’t had a chance to use it. White Card 19 is a Trap Card; its effect is to make people lose their way easily."

After hearing this, Xu Huo didn’t use any props or potions to verify the truth but directly withdrew the secant lines, stepping aside.

The Cannibal Player barely propped himself up with his hands, "Where’s the antitoxin?"

"What are you talking about?" Xu Huo remarked indifferently. "I didn’t poison you."

The Cannibal Player suddenly turned his shocked gaze to He Xiaoxiao. "So it was you... you vile woman..."

Before he could finish, another mouthful of blood sprayed from his lips. Realizing he could no longer escape, he shot the two of them a resolute look, then let the previously used Hummingbird drop by his side—he didn’t intend to let anyone profit from his demise.

Whether to harm others or take his own life, Xu Huo didn’t let him succeed. Thoughtfully, he used a spatial barrier to block most of the damage, leaving the Cannibal Player with only a sliver of life.

The Cannibal Player tried to deliver a final blow with his remaining strength, but the next moment, He Xiaoxiao released a rubber cat that clamped down on his throat, tearing out a chunk of flesh with skin and muscle in simulated consumption.

The cat couldn’t actually eat anything, so when the Cannibal Player collapsed, it spat out his flesh, as if vomiting something particularly vile and repulsive.

The layered irony of this cruel act felt like the Cannibal Player’s final punishment—his eyes widened as he drew his last breath.

"This man didn’t tell the truth." He Xiaoxiao’s expression fluctuated before she continued, "White Card 19 doesn’t have the effect of simply making people lose their way."

As soon as she finished speaking, the maze walls around them began to tremble and shift. Suddenly, a new wall horizontally extended from the center—the maze’s layout was changing!

Without turning back, He Xiaoxiao dashed away, quickly disappearing into the rapidly shifting maze walls.

But no matter how the walls change, a person can’t simply vanish. As long as the maze walls haven’t fully closed, or there’s a connecting passage with even the slightest gap, the person can’t truly escape!

Xu Huo pursued her, reaching a section of path before the maze walls sealed completely. When the path ahead was blocked, he changed direction, moving along newly formed corridors. After four pathways, he spotted He Xiaoxiao again.

He Xiaoxiao also noticed him, her expression darkening as she sped up, simultaneously triggering traps on the maze walls and releasing five rubber cats to block him.

Unfortunately, with no maze walls offering assistance this time, she couldn’t escape the corridor. The rubber cats and mutant plants lurking in the maze walls were swiftly sliced to pieces by crisscrossing secant lines and long knives. In the next moment, Xu Huo teleported from behind the corridor directly to its front, blocking He Xiaoxiao’s path!

He Xiaoxiao, moving at high speed, nearly collided with him. In an instant, however, she used props to change direction, swiftly retreating in the opposite direction.

Xu Huo pivoted again, cutting ahead to intercept her. The "Cake Cutter" swung down sharply, its fan-shaped blade slicing across He Xiaoxiao’s shoulder, leaving deep gashes on the ground behind her and even carving the distant maze walls!

He wasn’t holding back; He Xiaoxiao avoided the fatal strike by deploying props. She retreated again, creating distance as she declared, "It’s just three cards—why chase to the death?"

"Even a cornered rabbit bites," she said with defiance. "Are you really so sure you can handle me without fail?"

"If you’re talking about the poison I supposedly inflicted on you, or the props you see me holding now, I suggest you don’t hold out too much hope," Xu Huo replied. "If I don’t let go, you won’t even be able to get close."

He didn’t waste further words, commanding directly, "Follow the same process as earlier—tell me, what are the five cards you have now, and what are their effects?"

He Xiaoxiao watched him warily. "You must have more than one card yourself. When holding more than six cards, they’ll randomly return to the instance—you mean you don’t have any good cards in your hand?"

"Thanks for the reminder; there’s really one card I urgently need to eliminate from my hand," Xu Huo replied with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.

"Then what are you waiting for? Why not just kill me and take my cards?" He Xiaoxiao retorted sharply.

"My motives aren’t something that can be explained in a few words to you," Xu Huo replied. He raised a hand, and an automatic chair materialized behind her, pushing forward to collide with her legs, forcing her to sit. He Xiaoxiao reflexively tried to dodge but was pinned by an unseen force, slumping into the chair.

"Using the ’Please Sit’ characteristic here is unsuitable," Xu Huo noted. "Instead, I relied on Mental Interference." He worked quickly but took extra time to subdue someone with a strong will and high vigilance.

He Xiaoxiao, worldly and experienced, quickly realized what was happening when she couldn’t rely on props. "Mental Interference! Did you hypnotize me? Was it through a prop or a characteristic?"

"Don’t waste time; you’re not getting out anytime soon," Xu Huo interrupted, stepping forward. He crossed over ten meters in one stride, stopping directly in front of her.

He conjured a chair for himself and sat down, gesturing for her to proceed.

He Xiaoxiao forced herself to suppress her emotions. "My first card is White Card 12—you’ve seen it. I don’t know what its effect is."

Xu Huo nodded. "What’s the Clue Card?" he asked.

"Black Card 11," He Xiaoxiao replied, pressing her lips together. "As for the clue part, I’m not lying... I really want to find someone to team up with..."
