Chapter 1175: Chapter 1175: Technology from a Rank-A Wormhole Point

The struggling black shadow resisted for a moment, but under Xu Huo’s second tug, it tightened around the stage’s perimeter and ultimately transformed into a humanoid figure in his hand, obediently standing still in place.

The Magician stared at him in shock. "Are you split personality?"

Xu Huo let the Shadow Personality go and turned back. "Is it that strange?"

The Magician’s gaze flickered, as though assessing something, and after a moment, he said, "People with split personalities generally have unstable Spiritual Worlds. It’s impossible for them to undergo mental Super Evolution. You can’t possibly be split personality."

"If you say I’m not, then I’m not." Xu Huo was indifferent. "But we’ve already fought three rounds, all resulting in ties. Neither of us can do much to the other right now. Why not leave it for another time?"

"You held back earlier. Continuing to press the issue would make me seem unreasonable." The Magician waved his hand, and the Magic Stage disappeared.

The two of them returned to the pristine white Spiritual World.

"That’s not true," Xu Huo smiled faintly. "You didn’t go all out against me either."

"But I must acquire the Magician’s Gift." The Magician said, "I can trade two Rank-A Props with you for it."

Xu Huo raised an eyebrow. "Is that playing card worth that much?"

"Maybe not to others, but to me, it is." The Magician said confidently, "However, if you’re thinking of raising the price, it won’t work. This is the best offer I can make."

"It seems you’re not really the Magician," Xu Huo paused. "If you’re after the Magician’s Gift, it must be related to the real Magician. But among Super Players, no one seems to have the title of Magician."

"The Magician’s Gift was created by a Rank-A Player," the Magician explained. "Twenty years ago, he was extremely famous, with power rivalling that of a Super Player. But for unknown reasons, he suddenly vanished without a trace. The Magician’s Gift is a Prop he left behind in the game world."

"This playing card is actually a key. There’s a Rank-A Instance, rumored to be left behind by the Magician, which requires the Magician’s Gift to enter. My class is also Magician, so if that Rank-A Magician truly left an inheritance, it would be an incomparably valuable fortune for me."

Xu Huo, who currently lacked the strength to challenge a Rank-A Instance, thought for a moment. "How did you find me?"

"Just a coincidence." The Magician said, "You must’ve seen the introduction of the Prop. The target the Magician’s Gift activates for is actually the person the Rank-A Magician wanted to track. Once the Prop is activated, it leaves an unremovable imprint on the person’s body—unless that person dies. And I just happen to know how to track it."

"I’ve studied the Magician’s past battle records. That Cubic Space you used, the Magician had once used it too. The appearance of both things together speaks volumes."

Xu Huo nodded slightly. "Those two items I obtained from a wanted criminal."

"Then the criminal you killed was likely the person the Magician was tracking years ago. But over the past twenty years, the Magician hasn’t shown up, and his life or death remains unknown, so he never had a chance to recover his belongings." The Magician sighed deeply.

"Not necessarily," Xu Huo said. "Maybe he’s just retired to get married and have a family."

"He’s the renowned Magician! How could he live a life as ordinary as that?" The Magician, wearing the Moth Mask, showed a trace of agitation. "If he didn’t reclaim his lost possessions, where would his pride be?"

"I think pride may not be that important." Xu Huo tactfully diverted the conversation, turning instead to the Cubic Space. "You seem to know a lot about the Magician’s Props. I have a question: why isn’t the Cubic Space’s range of power affected by Advanced Space-Time Artifacts?"

The Magician looked slightly surprised. "Only Space-Time Items have mutually incompatible Characteristics. The Cubic Space you obtained is a piece of advanced technology, crafted as an instrument. It’s said to come from a Rank-A Wormhole Point and represents a relatively stable spatial state, much like a normal game district. Have you ever seen a Space-Time Item capable of interfering with or dismantling the time-space order of a game district?"

"Even Super Props can only cause limited disruptions over a very short period. They could never collapse the time-space of an entire district."

Given that the Cubic Space wasn’t influenced by the mutually incompatible Characteristics of Space-Time Items, Xu Huo felt it bore some resemblance to the Secondary Stone "Eternal Time." Thus, when he learned that the Cubic Space was actually an instrument, he found it unsurprising. What did catch him off guard, however, was the fact that it was a technological instrument, apparently originating from a Rank-A Wormhole Point.

If a Rank-A Wormhole Point could produce such an instrument, it might also manufacture other time-space instruments for ordinary people. The power of time-space instruments and Props was undeniable, which likely meant that, in those first-entered Wormhole Points, ordinary people could wield enough technological force to rival even Players, not to mention the Game Government or District Governments, who already ruled by this technology.

It was akin to a martial arts master with cold weapons facing off against an ordinary person with a firearm—victory was far from certain.

As a fellow Player, the Magician understood Xu Huo’s mindset. "Props like the Cubic Space are rarely wielded to their full potential, even by ordinary Players. And such Props are unlikely to exist as standalone items; where there’s defense, there’s also offense."

Xu Huo accepted the Magician’s attempt at reassurance for the time being and changed the subject. "If it’s an instrument, then it’s neither owner-bound nor unowned."

Perhaps the inability to store it in the Prop inventory was because of the spatial power released by the Cubic Space.

"Judging by how proficient you are with it, owner-bound or not doesn’t really matter." The Magician showed little interest in the Cubic Space. "The Magician’s Gift, however, isn’t of much use to you. Unless you plan to enter a Rank-A Instance right now, your class likely has nothing to do with magic. I doubt the Magician’s legacy holds much appeal to you."

"Do you believe that yourself?" Xu Huo replied with a smile.

No matter whether his class connected to magic, how could the inheritance of a super-powerful Rank-A Player not be alluring?

But high rewards came with high risks, and at the moment, Xu Huo wasn’t planning to overstep his limits by challenging such an Instance.

"Two Rank-A Props aren’t enough?" The Magician pressed quickly. "That’s advanced loot you could gain without taking any risk. With your strength, a few Advanced Items on top would ensure your absolute safety in similarly ranked Instances."

"To say I’m not short of Rank-A Props... would be an overstatement." Xu Huo took out the Magician’s Gift, twirling the playing card between his index and middle fingers before glancing at the Magician across from him. "But your reasoning still fails to convince me."

"I could sell it for a higher price or keep it for myself. No one’s claimed the Magician’s legacy in twenty years; I doubt waiting another year or two will make any difference."

Stopping the card-spinning motion, Xu Huo’s expression returned to its usual impassive state. "Do you have any other reasons?"
