Chapter 1139: Two Paper Boxes
Chapter 1139: Chapter 1139: Two Paper Boxes
Zone 014 has never encountered a random instance with an entry in the air before. The reduction of flights is entirely due to the increase in uncontrollable factors brought by the increase of Players, and air rescues are extremely difficult. However, there has never been a case where an entire airplane just disappeared in flight. Therefore, the control tower reported to the Special Defense Department immediately, and Players from the Special Defense Department arrived quickly, along with the well-informed relatives of that aristocratic young man.
While they were pressuring the Special Defense Department, the Player who came to carry out the mission checked the list of registered personnel and discovered the name Xu Huo, immediately calling Chief Wu.
Chief Wu had just arrested the people on the list provided by Xu Huo, and soon after, Xu Huo’s flight disappeared shortly after takeoff, leaving him feeling breathless. He hastily summoned personnel and rushed to the airport.
Professor Lan and his group hadn’t left yet. After hearing the news, they repeatedly stressed, "Xu Huo’s safety must be given top priority!"
There was no need for Professor Lan to say this; Chief Wu was reluctant to lose such a talent from Ting City. However, when he called Nie Xuan, Nie Xuan didn’t plan to go with him, reasoning:
"His luck is too strong. Even if all the Special Defense Department’s people were to die, he wouldn’t. I will leave for Jing City in twenty minutes."
As an ordinary person, Chief Wu couldn’t comprehend the changing mindset of Players, but Nie Xuan’s change was apparent even without a professional psychologist. Seeing his weary appearance, Chief Wu found himself unable to offer advice, especially since Nie Xuan, compared to other Players, is tied to a ticking time bomb.
The matter didn’t just involve Xu Huo; it could also be the emergence of a new type of random instance. So, on his way to the airport, Chief Wu requested support from headquarters. The technical department at headquarters connected with Ting City to try remote decoding of the sudden incident.
While the Special Defense Department commenced urgent work, Xu Huo and the others on the plane were ignorant of it all.
Most passengers were doing as usual, just as when they first boarded the plane. However, not long after, the aristocratic young man sitting in front suddenly stood up, strode into the aisle, glanced over the Players sitting in the back rows, and then angrily exclaimed, "Dare to steal my Prop! Search for it!"
Upon his command, his four bodyguards immediately stepped forward, one of them holding up a Special Defense Department badge and announcing: "Ladies and gentlemen, our young master is a special Player of the Special Defense Department. We suspect that you have stolen Props. Please cooperate with the search; otherwise, your identity information will be sent to the Special Defense Department before you disembark from the plane. If you’re blacklisted by the Special Defense Department, it will be a problem for you to move around in Zone 014."
The blond Player nearest to them, who had had a dispute over seating with the young master’s entourage earlier, was fixing his hair in the mirror. After hearing this, he sneered, "Don’t think you’re amazing just because you have some money. Even if you have a special appointee certificate, what about it? You think we’re just going to be blacklisted because you say so? Does the Special Defense Department belong to your family?"
Other Players also started to look up in twos and threes. One of them advised: "Young man, you should keep a low profile after you leave the house. This is on a plane; if a few people die, the Special Defense Department won’t be able to rescue them in time."
Laughter echoed throughout the cabin, but the aristocratic young man was unfazed. At his signal, one of his bodyguards threw a checkered paper Prop onto the floor. Four Spatial Barriers erected in a crisscross pattern divided the cabin into nine sections, trapping two or three Players in each section.
Before the Players could express their anger, the young master took off his sunglasses, "You’re right; this is on a plane. If there’s a problem, it won’t end well for everybody. But the difference is, I can compensate the Special Defense Department with a new plane. If you want to land safely and not be troubled by the Special Defense Department afterwards, then cooperate with me and find the Prop."
"The search process is also very simple. My Props have special markings. If someone touched them, a scan with a device will reveal it."
He looked toward the blond Player, "Let’s start with you since you’re the most suspect."
The blond Player was initially angry but soon calmed down, "Whatever you say, but where do I put my face?"
The young master’s face darkened, and two bodyguards immediately stepped forward, moving effortlessly within the grid barriers, standing one on each side of the blond Player.
The blond Player tensed and crouched, preparing for a fight. However, to his surprise, the bodyguards did not touch or attempt to attack him. The arc of light emitted from the badge on their chests swept over him, and fluorescent-like sporadic marks appeared on his hands and sleeves.
"Catch him," the young master couldn’t be bothered to waste more words.
Seeing that there was no room for denial, the blond Player somersaulted backward, and a sharp blade appeared between his fingers, slicing open the Spatial Barriers, before he squeezed through the cut into the next section.
"Get lost!" a tall Player close to him said unpleasantly, waving him away, only for a Nail Clipper to fly out from his sleeve into the hands of the pursuing bodyguard, "Young master, this is also your Prop!"
The young master laughed, "It seems there is more than one thief."
The tall Player pulled a face, "What Prop nonsense? Do you think I’ve never seen one before?"
He grabbed the blond Player’s clothes in a quick motion, "Did you put this on me?"
Stolen Props usually don’t serve much purpose unless you can kill the original owner of the Prop. Besides, no one would hide a stolen Prop in their sleeve, let alone have it fall out, which would be laughable.
This seemed clumsy to both the original owner and the one hiding the stolen item. That’s why the tall Player immediately grabbed the blond Player. Meanwhile, other Players started checking themselves, and several discovered extra items in their clothing.
This was like stirring up a hornet’s nest; the blond Player appeared somewhat panicked, and after evading the tall Player using a Prop, he retreated while saying, "This has nothing to do with me..."
Before he could finish his sentence, he unexpectedly stepped on something. Turning around, he clearly saw it was a Prop, lying at the feet of another Player, who seemed to have just woken up from sleep, rubbing their temples with fatigue and irritation.
But before he could speak, that person’s motions abruptly stopped, and they fixed a sharp gaze on him.
The blond Player startled for a moment and, while backing away, inadvertently bumped into something else. He thought another Player had made a move, but glimpsing with his peripheral vision, he realized that all the Players had backed away, staring at him—or more precisely, at something behind him—with grim expressions.
What rose behind him was a milky-white box about the size of a human head, appearing to be made of paper, but when the blond Player bumped into it, the box was immovable as if rooted in the air. A meter away from it was another box of the same shape but black in color.
