Chapter 80: Very sus...

Chapter 80: Very sus...

You know that moment when you are so angry you feel like you would burst, and meanwhile, the person you are mad at is not taking any of it seriously and making you look like an idiot for overreacting?

That was exactly how Chris felt right now.

Because he was so mad. Especially when he remembered how Wilson had been drunkenly making out with Ash. And even more mad when he remembered how frightened and sick Sky had been and how he could not sleep throughout the night just to look after him.

But here he was, smiling at him.

The group called his attention to something, and he turned his gaze at them, moving his eyes away from a livid Chris.

Chris closed his eyes and took a deep breath, reminding himself that he was Christopher Owen and things like this did not bother him. He was bigger than this.

Since that was what Sky wanted, he would let him. He walked away, looking around for Wilson and Rachel.

He saw Wilson first.

Unlike what Chris had imagined Wilson would be doing, like getting drunk and acting wildly, Wilson was sitting on the sand in a quieter area near the lake. The atmosphere was more serene here, with soft, flickering lights reflecting on the water’s surface. Wilson seemed to be in deep thought, a sight that was rare for even Chris to see.

He could feel his anger die down as he looked at him for a moment before he cautiously approached Wilson, not wanting to startle him.

Wilson turned around, and his eyes widened in surprise when he saw Chris standing there. "You are here." He said this, trying to sound nonchalant, but there was a touch of nervousness in his voice.

"I’m here," Chris replied, his voice soft.

He sighed internally at himself for always being soft toward people he cared about.

Wilson looked hesitant for a moment before sighing and gesturing for Chris to sit beside him on the sand. They sat in silence for a while, the gentle sounds of the lake and distant laughter from the party providing a comforting backdrop.

Chris finally broke the silence, his tone earnest.

"This is not how you should heal your heart."

Wilson turned to look at him and quietly asked, "Then how should I?"

"Take your time to think about the reason why things happened the way they did between you too. Think about what you did wrong and not only what he did wrong. Try to make it work. Be intentional about it. I know you love him."

Wilson turned to look at the side and covered his face with a hand, sniffling. He seemed hurt.

The anger that once consumed Chris was now replaced with a desire to help Wilson heal and find clarity in his heart. Chris put a sympathetic hand on his shoulder and said quietly, "Don’t do stupid things because you are heartbroken. You will regret it later."

Wilson turned to look at him, his voice soft and filled with guilt as he said, "I’m sorry about yesterday." He paused before he added, "Ash and I were actually kind of flirting before, so—"

"That is no excuse." Chris interrupted him. "You are just desperate to move on. I noticed your interest in Sky. Also in Henry, and then you were making out with Ash. I won’t let you act recklessly."

Wilson looked at him seriously, and then he smiled gently, wiping the little tears from his eyes. "I love you, man!" He said that and hugged Chris, startling him.

"Shoo!"

Chris shooed him away and pushed him away, making Wilson laugh while cleaning his tears.

"I didn’t want to mention this to Rachel... but I kinda figured out you were with a guy last night," Wilson said it with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Were you getting dirty?"

"Don’t be silly," Chris said and looked away, trying to avoid the topic.

"You know you have to spill it," Wilson said eagerly.

Chris was quiet for a moment before his quiet voice said, "It was Sky."

"Oh... Sky... wait!" Wilson looked at him with wide eyes when it settled in. "YOU HAD SEX WITH SKY?!" He asked in shock.

At once, Chris covered his mouth and looked around in alarm. "Are you crazy? Jesus! No." Chris glared at him.

"He only slept there and left. That was all."

"And nothing else happened?"

"Nothing."

"Something did," Wilson said, shaking his head. He could guess something had happened since Chris was so adamant not to talk about it.

"I... kinda assumed I was dreaming and... kissed him."

"What is that supposed to mean?" Wilson asked at once, curious.

Chris was torn between laughing and being embarrassed as he said, "It means it wasn’t a dream."

"WHAT?!" Wilson’s eyes were wide. "How did he react? What happened?"

Chris simply shrugged. "He told me it was fine and guessed I was thinking it was his sister."

"Oh... I saw that girl yesterday. She is hot as crazy... but damn! You weren’t imagining it was her right? Don’t tell me you have the hots for both siblings? That’s gonna be a wild crazy incest porno shit!"

"Don’t be stupid," Chris said, laughing in amusement.

The light-hearted conversation was taking away all of his frustration.

"Just Sky," Chris muttered honestly.

Wilson turned to look at him with surprise. "You’re admitting you have feelings for Sky?"

He shrugged again. "Kinda."

"Wow! That was... fast." Wilson said, his voice turning concerned, "You don’t even know this guy. Aren’t you getting yourself into trouble?"

"I know. I know."

"You don’t know. There is only a tiny chance that he may like you and a really higher chance that he is not attracted to guys so—"

"There’s a chance he likes me, isn’t there?" Chris interrupted him to ask. "Why did you think that? Did you figure out something?"

"Are you kidding me!?" Wilson asked in disbelief, wondering why that was the most important thing right now.

"I’m curious. Because... I have been thinking the same."

Wilson just stared before he sighed and said, "It’s just... I don’t know. It felt that way. Especially how he made it very obvious he didn’t like me. And I’m guessing he doesn’t like Rachel too. He just has this kind of weird intense stare for everyone else." He fully turned to Chris, saying, "I mean, you should know if he does right? You are Christopher Owen. Your gaydar is topnotch."

"Have you forgotten already?" Chris asked him, leaving the other words unsaid.

"Oh..." Guilt flashed in his eyes before he said, "But you can always ask him."

"Sky is the type to play everything like a joke." Chris pointed out.

"Maybe because he thinks you are joking. Tell him you are attracted to boys too and see how he reacts." Wilson suggested, making it sound so stupid.

"Nope."

"Why?"

"I can’t."

"Chris! Since when did you start living like this? What are you scared of? Besides... Henry is his friend, right? He won’t think you’re weird."

"I don’t know. I don’t just want him to know that I... kinda like him a little." Chris said in a vulnerable tone.

Wilson chuckled. "What little? You practically want to date him."

"No, I don’t."

Wilson rolled his eyes. "You’ve shamelessly gone from wanting to kill him to wanting to only kiss him to wanting to see him naked to wanting to only have sex with him and now you’re probably craving his heart too that’s why you are desperate to know what he thinks about you. Anyway... I can always help you find out."

Chris wanted to retort but then the last statement caught his attention and he looked at Wilson curiously. "How can you do that?"

"You will see." Wilson winked at him and stood up, dusting the back of his shorts.

"Come on," he urged Chris, who was still looking at him suspiciously. "Get up." He offered him his hand, pulling Chris up just as Chris’s phone began to ring.

Rachel was calling.

Finally!

He quickly received the call, but before he could talk, she informed him that the network had disconnected earlier and told him she could see them.

His eyes searched for her among the crowd, and he found her waving at him. Acknowledging her, he began to walk towards her just as he ended the call, but before he could return his phone, he realized he had another unread message from Sky, which made him raise his brow when he read it. The message said:

(You are so going to explain why he is hugging you by the lake after claiming he doesn’t like you.)

Chris scoffed in disbelief, torn between amusement and annoyance at him. However, Wilson looked over his shoulder to read the text, surprised and amused.

"I see he must have talked about me already," Wilson said in an amused tone.

"He wanted to know if you liked me," Chris replied as he put his phone inside his pocket.

"And you think this guy does not have feelings for you? He is very... sus."
