Chapter 76: Or not...

Chris stared at him.

For some obvious reasons, he felt guilty. It had been a dream, but he couldn’t stop the guilt and for a moment, he briefly wondered if Sky could see through him and know. Or what if he had said something out in his sleep and Sky had heard?

"Morning, pretty boy," Sky greeted nonchalantly as he approached the food cart, his eyes lighting up.

"I’ve never imagined being served like this in a fancy hotel." He looked at Chris, saying, "Your friend really outdid himself."

That was a good sign for Chris.

Sky did not look like he knew anything. He also hadn’t heard the manager say anything. He was a little relieved.

He had never seen Sky excited about anything before. So seeing how he was closely looking at the breakfast tray with eagerness made Chris smile, feeling his worries from earlier fade away.

"How do you feel?" Chris asked him, even though he could guess that Sky seemed better now.

"Hungry," Sky answered and shooed him to go freshen up and come so they could eat.

As Chris quickly freshened up, for the first time in a long while, he stared at his reflection for longer, trying to find the right way to style his hair to make it look cuter. When he realized what he was doing, he crushed in horror and left the bathroom quickly, only to find Sky licking off a cream stain from one of his fingers.

Chris cleared his throat awkwardly and settled down across from him on the table to eat.

He didn’t say much, and neither did Sky. Thankfully, the breakfast wasn’t exactly awkward because Sky wasted no time sampling everything on the tray. Just like he had said, he seemed to be very hungry, and his delight in the meal made Chris enthusiastic to also try all of them.

"Would you like some painkillers?"

Sky shook his head. "I think I’ll just go rest for a while."

Chris didn’t want him to leave. I mean... he could rest here, couldn’t he?

He also wanted to talk about last night and all that had happened. But then, he wanted to be careful since Sky wasn’t mentioning it. Yet.

As they ate, Chris’s mind drifted back to the dream he had earlier. He glanced at Sky, his heart still unsettled by the emotions it had stirred up.

What would Sky do if he knew he had that kind of dream about him? Sure, he wasn’t homophobic, but there was a high chance it would ruin this little friendship.

So many thoughts ran through his mind.

Should he correct Sky about his weird thinking about Chris imagining him to be Rain?

Was that even necessary?

"Is everything okay?" Sky asked, his voice soft. "You’ve sighed a thousand times."

So much exaggeration.

He quickly shook his head. "I’m fine. What did you wake up? And why didn’t you wake me up?" He asked instead.

"I didn’t want to trouble you. If I remember correctly, your night didn’t exactly go smoothly." His tone was laced with guilt.

"Stop that." Chris chastised softly.

"What?"

"The pout. Whatever I chose to do for you last night had nothing to do with you. I would have done the same for anyone."

That was a BIG FAT LIE.

"Doesn’t make me feel any less guilty."

"Let’s not talk about it," Chris said, brushing it off. He didn’t want him sulking.

They ate quietly, and when they were done, Sky went inside the bathroom. Chris guessed he had gone to change to leave and tried his best not to let his disappointment show as he tried to call Wilson’s phone, hoping that he had at least gone to retrieve it by now.

However, what happened next stunned him, and he put the phone down.

Sky emerged from the bathroom wearing the hotel’s in-house wear and had his hair still wrapped with a towel.

Wasn’t he leaving?

Not only that, Sky approached and settled in on the bed beside him, getting under the covers.

"I’m craving animation," Sky said, tilting his chin at the TV.

"Aren’t you leaving?" Chris asked in confusion. Not that he minded Sky’s decision to stay back, but he had expected him to leave just like he always did with the dorm.

So it was very strange to remain here.

Sky propped up his head with a hand and looked intensely at Chris, his gaze soft as he asked quietly, "Do you want me to leave?"

"No." That came out before he could think. "I mean... yes." Well, that sounded like he was chasing him away. "Not... really?"

"I just figured you’d be out cos you know... you are usually always out."

Sky scoffed. "I feel sick. A little rest wouldn’t hurt. You don’t mind, do you? Unless you are expecting someone and I can leave—" He got up, but Chris pulled him back down.

"You can rest for as long as you like. Wilson paid for this room for a few days."

Sky looked around the room and muttered, his tone laced with a hint of envy as he said, "It’s nice to be rich."

"It’s even nicer to be pretty," Chris said lightly. "You can choose to be lazy and still easily snag a hot, rich chick."

Sky laughed, the sad gloom in his eyes fading as he said, "Like you,"

According to Sky’s request, Chris chose an animation, and after fetching a tray of biscuits and juice from part of their breakfast, he settled in beside Sky on the bed with their backs resting against the headboard. He also turned off the lights, leaving only the light from the TV to illuminate the dark room.

The atmosphere made it difficult for him to not think about how they had been cuddling last night and also the dream he had; a part of him wished they could be like that right now.

Chris felt uneasy for some reason. That dream felt too real.

"What felt real?" Sky turned to ask him, making Chris realize that he was so lost in his thoughts that he unintentionally blurted out the words about the dream feeling real.

"It’s... nothing." He said quickly and picked up his apple juice to sip from it.

"Then why are you blushing?" Sky asked him in an amused tone before he turned to face the TV.

Almost immediately, Sky asked again as he nonchalantly bit a biscuit while looking at the TV, "Is it about the kiss this morning?"

At once, Chris choked on his drink, coughing and sputtering with his eyes wide from shock.
