Chapter 66: Here for you

Chapter 66: Here for you

Inside the luxurious hotel room, Chris sat at a large, ornate study desk, surrounded by opulent furnishings and extravagant decorations. The room was adorned with rich velvet curtains, plush carpets, and paintings of serene landscapes that added to the lavish atmosphere. This was the room he had upgraded for Wilson. What was the point of being a spoilt rich boy if he couldn’t give his friend the finest room?

It was just the two guys now in this room since Rachel had to stay in a single room. The fun wouldn’t be complete if she returned to her dorm anyway, so he made sure she got to stay the night.

As Chris looked through the items in the bag Wilson had brought him, he couldn’t help but feel a mix of surprise and suspicion that Wilson was right here with him.

"Your family has done an amazing job with this place!" Wilson spoke in an excited tone as he came out of the bathroom after easing himself.

Chris turned to him. He no longer wanted to keep it in. Raising an eyebrow, he asked his friend curiously. "So what exactly are you doing here?"

"What do you mean? I came to see you." Wilson said, still trying to sound excited, but Chris obviously didn’t buy that.

"And I’m to believe you chose to spend your 5-day holiday with me instead of spending the holidays with Jack?"

When he saw the shift in Wilson’s expression, it made him confirm that he had been right to be suspicious.

"Did you fight with Jack?" He asked.

Wilson sat down on the bed across from him. "Just a little argument. No big deal." He said it in a casual tone.

That, in fact, sounded like a big deal.

"What’s up?" Chris asked in concern.

"Nothing much. I had a little argument with Jack, so I decided to take a break and get away for a while." His voice was no longer chirpy.

Chris knew it. Wilson had sounded too excited to be okay.

"What happened? Are you guys okay?" Chris asked, still concerned.

Wilson answered hesitantly. "We’ll be fine. It’s just some silly disagreement, nothing too serious. I needed a change of scenery to clear my head, plus I also wanted to see how you were doing here."

Chris was curious. What kind of ’little’ disagreement could they not handle that he had to travel down here to see him to clear his head instead of fixing things with his boyfriend?

"A silly disagreement? Wilson, you don’t just show up unannounced in the middle of the holidays over a little argument. What’s really going on?"

Wilson sighed. "Look, I appreciate your concern, but I don’t really want to get into the details right now." He lay on the bed and hugged a pillow.

"That is something you’d tell strangers. I’m not a stranger. I know better than anyone how much you’re into Jack and how into you he is too."

"Chris..."

Chris leaned forward, cutting him off as he said, "We’re friends. You can talk to me. Is this just a small fight, or is something bigger happening between you and Jack?"

Wilson paused. It was obvious that he didn’t want to talk about this and wanted to avoid it as much as possible, which was one of the reasons why he had come here. But Chris didn’t want him to. It was best for him to handle this and know what to do next.

"Okay, fine!" Wilson sat up and looked at Chris. "It’s more than just a small fight. We’ve been having some issues lately, and we thought it would be best to take some time apart and figure things out."

"Wait! You guys broke up?" He asked in surprise.

"I... guess that’s what it means," Wilson said quietly.

Once again, Chris was reminded of how selfish he was. Just like Rachel, Wilson was also going through something, yet he had no idea and always filled them with his troubles. He wondered if Sky was like that too. Did he also have his troubles yet always be concerned about Chris and how he was feeding?

THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO THINK ABOUT HIM!

Chris reminded himself. This time was for Wilson.

"I understand that relationships have ups and downs, but it’s important to address the problems together. Have you talked about what’s been bothering you both? If you can sort that out, I’m sure that would greatly improve your relationship. I mean, you’ve both been together for years now. You can fix this."

Wilson looked down and sighed. "Not really. Things have been tense, and we both needed some space to think. But I hope we can sort it out once we’ve had some time to ourselves."

At least they hadn’t completely broken up, so that was still a good sign.

Chris nodded in support. "Well, I hope you do too. But remember, communication is key in any relationship. Maybe when you’re ready, you can have an open and honest conversation with Jack."

Wilson smiled faintly. "Thanks. I know you’re right. When I get back, I’ll try to talk to him once I’ve figured out what I really want."

Chris gave him an encouraging smile when he heard that. He was optimistic that things were going to turn out well. "That’s the spirit. I believe you know you can always talk to me. Do not keep it in or try to act like all is fine when it’s not—"

"Pfft! You are one to talk when you’re the master of that." Wilson rolled his eyes.

"No, I’m not!"

"Yes, you are. You must not know how relieved I am that you’ve been opening up a lot lately. I’m also surprised you’ve grown really close with Rachel to the point where you are spending a whole day with her."

Chris laughed lightly. "You’d like her too."

"Do you have feelings for her?"

"I don’t," Chris answered almost immediately.

"That’s fine then. I don’t know much about her, but I do remember she was the least liked person among our age groups, both in SCH and NA." Wilson pointed out.

"I kinda remember that. And I’m glad I didn’t judge her and got to know her on a more personal level. She is an angel."

"Really?" Wilson sounded like he didn’t believe that.

"Why are you asking me in that tone?" Chris inquired suspiciously.

"Have you forgotten that epic moment during the last birthday party you threw?" Wilson tried to remind him, but it was clear from Chris’s facial expression that he didn’t remember.

"What happened?"

"Really? You have forgotten?" Wilson sat up and looked at him with wide eyes.

"A lot of things happened that day." Chris reminded him.

"She made out with Liam. An intense make-out session! Remember? During that truth or dare game. Just before you and Liam fought outside."

Chris remembered, and when it all came to him, his eyes widened. "Oh!"

"You must have forgotten all about it." Wilson was surprised.

Chris could not believe it, and he laughed. "Wow! It was indeed Rachel!" And if he remembered correctly, it seemed Rachel had tried flirting with him initially too.

"You seem cool about it," Wilson said it in a tone that made Chris raise a brow at him. There seemed to be an underlying message there.

"What do you want to say?" Chris asked him, crossing his arms across his chest.

"Have you made solid plans on how to stay away from him?" Wilson asked, ignoring Chris’s question. Or maybe the question was linked to this.

Chris knew the ’him’ he was talking about was none other than Sky Sato. He shook his head.

"Nah. I’m not gonna do that." He said honestly.

"What? Why?"

"There is no point."

"So you are still crazy about sleeping with your roommate?" Wilson asked him, almost sounding amused.

Chris pondered for a few seconds.

"I don’t think so." He answered quietly.

That answer was even weird to him. What did he mean by saying he didn’t think so?

"Why don’t you think so?" Wilson asked him the same question he was asking himself.

"I don’t even know." He said in exhaustion before adding, "I guess you should stop trying to advise me to stay away from him. If I’m honest with you, it never works."

Wilson laughed and shook his head before saying, "I’m really curious to see this guy in person. By the way, everyone’s been curious about you. Where you are. What you are up to. The kind of luxury you’re living in. Your new social media. I receive tons of messages daily. You used to throw the maddest parties. I miss those days."

That reminded Chris. "Speaking of parties, there is a pool party tomorrow."

"For real? You’re throwing a party?" Wilson asked in surprise.

"Of course not! I was invited to one. You coming?"

"I don’t see why not! Let’s go fuck shit up!"

Wilson sounded genuinely excited now and was not trying to fake it.

"Is he going to be there?" Wilson asked while wiggling his brows.

"Who?"

"The man of your dreams. Literally." He winked at Chris, causing him to chuckle.

"Don’t be an idiot. And no. Sky isn’t coming."

"Shit!"

But shouldn’t Chris already know that whenever he was certain about something concerning Sky, it was always wrong?
