Chapter 54: Avoid Ash?

Chapter 54: Avoid Ash?

He chose a bike whose model was a lot like his. Although it was a lower model, he felt it would do.

The crowd cheered, and many people raised placards with Ashley’s name on them. Yes, he was their biggest bet.

Even when they introduced the bikers, most people in the crowd booed at him and the others and yelled like crazy when it was Ash.

That was pretty messed up. He could understand why Ashley always won. That alone was enough to dampen his mood.

The engines roared, speeding past the crowd to the main track, where the real game began.

As much as he hated to admit it, he was in the third position out of five the first five minutes into the race.

Ashely was number one, and a bike was closely following behind him. And while Chris was trying to catch up, he noticed how Ash’s bike swerved out of his lane and into the second guy’s lane, who was closely behind. That caught number 2 off guard, and he tried to dodge to Ash’s lane to avoid a collision, but that just disorganized him and both he and his wife crashed in lane one, and he tumbled to the ground.

Chris watched in shock.

"Be careful. It’s a rough game. Avoid Ash. And watch the lanes. You don’t own a lane."

He hadn’t understood what Sky meant earlier until now. This game was crazy.

Ash turned briefly to look at what he had caused, and even though he was wearing a helmet, Chris could sense the smugness around him as his engine roared and he zoomed off.

The crowd far behind cheered loudly, which was even more insane.

He realized that this was far more than just a game. He fired his engine and zoomed. Now he was number 2.

Which meant that the crazy, pretty boy could do the same thing to him.

Avoid Ash?

There was no way he was going to do that.

The game continued smoothly after that. He kept trying to catch up with the psycho, who had put quite a significant distance between them. But then he noticed Ash wasn’t as far away anymore. Either his bike was finally catching up or the guy was slowing down just so he could do the same to him because he was a psychopath who derived pleasure in hurting others.

With a determined look in his eyes, he began to catch up with Ash.

And then Ash tried to do the same thing to him.

But Chris wasn’t a novice with bikes. Even before Ash was in his lane, he had already moved out of that lane to the one beside him. Since they had both put a significant gap between them and the others, he didn’t fear that someone would crash into him from behind. That gave him an advantage and placed him ahead of Ash.

And then he did what no one expected. He moved to Ash’s lane, right in front of him.

Ash’s tires screeched, and he quickly diverted and moved on to the first.

Chris had a smug look on his face, especially when he turned to look at Ash briefly and noticed the boy’s head was turned towards him, staring.

’That’s right, asshole!’

Chris said in his head as he maintained his lane.

It seemed like what he did enraged Ash because, for the next few minutes, he tried to do the same. He was bent on making Chris crash, but Chris had a sharp wit and deflected each time.

This became more than just a game. It was like a competition between both guys to see who was going to make the other crash, so they didn’t notice other bikers getting closer until one unexpectedly drove past them, snapping them back to their senses.

"Shit!" Chris swore and decided to focus on the actual game since they were close to the finish line. It seemed Ash also realized the same, and his engine revved loudly before he zoomed off.

Of course, he didn’t fail to intercept the guy that dared go ahead of him, and unfortunately for him, he went crashing just because they got to the finish line.

The crash almost affected Chris’s bike, but he was fortunate to dodge it before he also crossed the line after Ash, taking the second position.

By now, the crowd was already cheering, hooting, clapping, and shouting Ash’s name. He was a nobody here and didn’t expect anyone to know him, but it also gave him a strange kind of feeling, seeing as he was being ignored for a psychopath instead.

He pushed that thought out of his head and climbed down from his bike.

Ash had already climbed down from his bike. When he took off his helmet, he shook his head, letting his hair bounce behind him, before he waved at the crowd on the other side. The crowd went wild. It was like they were at a concert and their favourite artist had finally shown up.

He wouldn’t blame them. Ash was quite good at racing, even though he did it in a crazy way. And he was hot too. So yeah, he could understand.

Chris took off his helmet too and lazily pushed his hair backwards.

He was surprised when he heard his name in the crowd, and some people there cheered for him.

That at least brought a smile to his face.

Ash turned to look at him, and at first, he thought this guy would try to give him shit for ’bike fighting’ him earlier, but the psycho smiled brightly and approached him.

"I have never had that much fun in a while. You know your shit. That was dope." He extended a hand for a shake.

Chris didn’t want to. Normally, he would walk away. But if he did that now, it would seem he was ignoring Ash because he lost the race, so he reluctantly shook Ash’s hand, but he didn’t miss the chance to berate him.

"That wasn’t cool." He spoke in a serious tone.
