Chapter 53: What feeling was this?
Chapter 53: What feeling was this?
As the guilt was trying to envelope Chris, he decided to change the topic.
"How did you even get here?" Chris asked Chris.
"My uncle’s car."
Argh! Why was it so difficult communicating with this guy at times?
"I mean, in here." Chris pointed down at the room.
Sky looked at him in confusion as he asked, "Didn’t we both walk in here?"
Goodness!
"I mean HERE! THIS PLACE! It was strictly guarded against others who aren’t staff or bikers." Chris explained in frustration but then he noticed the amused look on Sky’s face and realized that the idiot was probably messing with him.
"Seriously, Chris?" Sky asked in a tone that sounded like he was asking whether Chris didn’t already know the answer to that.
"I’m Sky Sato. It would be weird if I wasn’t let in." He said in his usual smug tone, which made Chris scoff. There was the real Sky.
For some odd reasons, seeing Sky like this made him a little better.
"I’m out of here."
Chris was about to leave when Sky suddenly moved and stood in front of him, blocking his way.
"I want to ask you a question. And I hope you won’t lie to me." Sky said in a serious tone and he also looked serious.
Chris didn’t feel good about his tone. He sounded too serious, and he was starting to have low-key PTSD whenever Sky sounded this way because he might snap soon. And he wasn’t in the mood to fight now that he had a big game to participate in to relieve stress.
"I’m listening." He said, trying to act like he was not suddenly very curious about what Sky was so serious about.
Had Sky caught in about his lies?
Did he know about his parents?
Or learn about his sexuality?
This thought plagued him in that short second pause.
Sky’s prying gaze locked with his as he asked gently, "You didn’t sign up for this because you wanted to impress Emily, did you?"
That was it.
Wait... that was it?!
"What?" Chris asked in confusion.
"Is that the reason?" Sky asked again and added, "I will be mad if that is the case." He still sounded serious.
Chris continued to look at him in confusion. Did this guy really not know that he was not acting normal?
"Do you like me?" He suddenly asked Sky, whose facial expression did not change as he asked his own question, "Why are you asking me that?"
"Because you are sounding like a jealous secret admirer." Chris pointed out.
Sky let out an amused laugh and ran his hand through his hair before he touched Chris’s shoulder and leaned closer to whisper in his ear. "If you’re doing this because of a girl, make sure I don’t find out."
Sky he drew back and said lightly, "Remember, do not try so hard to win. I won’t even be betting on you. See you later, pretty boy." With that, he walked out.
Chris stared at his back in disbelief as he walked out of the room.
Why the hell was he so intolerable and annoying and... and hot?
"If you’re doing this because of a girl, make sure I don’t find out."
Those words replayed in his head several times.
Was he simply overthinking things or was Sky’s behaviour not exactly normal?
He had learned that Sky could be very jealous and possessive, even with his friends, and after only a few days, he had been able to confirm it. He felt bad for Sky’s friends, but most of all, he felt sorry for whoever was dating Sky or whoever he was going to date in the future.
He didn’t seem like an easy guy to deal with.
But why was he smiling like an idiot while looking in the direction Sky had taken out of the room?
It seemed it was going to be difficult to get rid of this sexy leech.
He would just have to be the bigger person and forgive him one more time.
But this was going to be the last time.
When he joined the garage, Ash briefly approached him, and their conversation went like this:
Ash, "Hi there!"
"Yo?"
"You’re new."
Chris, "I am."
"I’m Ash."
"Chris."
"You don’t seem too keen to chat with me."
"Why should I?" Chris asked in an indifferent tone.
"Why shouldn’t you?"
"Just focus on the game." Chris said dismissively.
It was only after he walked away from him that Chris realized something was definitely wrong with him somewhere.
He had just thought a few minutes ago that Ash was pure sexiness and obviously his type, yet he had been quick to dismiss him for no reason.
The first time he also met Emily, he thought she was cute too, but he just wasn’t interested in her.
Then there was also Rain. He had decided earlier that week to focus on her. Yet he hadn’t bothered to text or call her.
But then... there was Sky. Someone who has repeatedly made him pissed. Why couldn’t he shake him off?
If it was purely lust that he felt for Sky, his attitude had turned him off a couple of times, and he should have put him at the back of his mind. By chance... it was more than just lust?
Nah! God forbid that.
He rebuked that thought.
He’d rather die than have feelings for him.
"Are you ready, guys?"
Their coordinator asked, clapping his hands to get their attention.
Since Chris had been inside the entire time, he didn’t exactly realize how big of an event this was until the garage doors opened and he saw the crowd outside.
Well, this was not going to be easy.
