Chapter 49: Doting roommate
Exhausted from the intense stares, Chris sat up and looked at them, especially in Noel and Henry’s direction.
"By chance... does Rachel have a brother?" Henry asked while grinning, making the other friends laugh.
"As far as I can remember, she is an only child." He answered.
"Damin it! You’re lucky to be friends with someone like Rachel. You should treat her well." Henry ’advised’.
"You both aren’t dating, right?" Noel asked him curiously.
Wasn’t it already obvious that they weren’t? How many times is he going to answer this question?
"We aren’t." He answered plainly.
"So I can hit on her, right?" Noel asked, and from the look on his face, he seemed to be waiting for permission.
"Golddigger." Sky snorted.
"Hey! You knew I kinda have a thing for her even before now."
"You kinda have a thing for everyone." Sky reminded him, and Henry nodded to that while Collins just flipped the pages of his book like none of it was his business.
"Everyone saw what happened today. If I do not hit on her soon, someone is going to snatch her from me." Noel said, his tone filled with desperation.
"At least find out if she has a boyfriend first," Sky told him.
"Even if she has a boyfriend, do you think her parents would accept you for their only child?" Henry asked.
Just as Noel hit Henry’s head with a pillow, Sky said sternly to Henry, "Do not look down on Noel. Even though he is a whore, he is perfect."
"YOU SEE?" Noel said smugly to Henry before turning to Sky with a smile. "I love you, man."
"Save it! I’m still not in support of what you are trying to do."
"Ouch!" Noel cried dramatically as he fell back on the bed, making Henry laugh out loud.
Chris watched the exchange between the friends with amusement. If only Rachel knew what was happening here.
"Are you sure you’re okay?" Sky turned to ask him.
He looked concerned.
Chris nodded. "I’m just a bit tired."
"Did you eat something?" Sky asked quietly as he reached to feel Chris’s forehead briefly.
What a doting roommate. Chris gave him a curt smile as he nodded.
He felt a little bad that he hadn’t brought the food his mother made for him to share with Sky, who always shared meals with him.
When he met Rachel earlier in her dorm to talk about what had happened, they both ate the meal there, but he had refused to take the luggage with him and asked her to keep it for now. It was going to raise a lot of eyebrows if people recognized it. Also, he didn’t bother to take anything out of it because he believed there were all luxury items and he didn’t need them for now. As for the money Rachel was given, he also left that with her.
"Lay down here for a bit," Sky said gently and helped Chris not only lay on the bed but also place his head on his lap. When Chris felt it, he jerked up, but Sky put him down.
"Relax. You don’t need to shower tonight. It’s cold."
Chris didn’t think it was a good idea to lay on his lap like that. For so many reasons, it was a bad idea.
And Sky smelled really nice being this close! He couldn’t even bring himself to turn or move.
Seriously, what were they doing when there were others in the room with them?
But it seemed like the others didn’t even care because Collins focused on his book while the other two were busy showing each other stuff on their phones.
"Stay still. I’ll help you clean your face. I bought you some face products." Sky spoke down to him as he lifted the small shopping bag Chris had noticed beside him earlier.
"I notice you don’t exactly take your skincare routine seriously. You’re beginning to have some skin reactions on your face. I won’t allow that happen."
He had noticed it too yesterday, and Rachel had also pointed it out. He guessed it was the change in his environment that was causing the breakouts. But when and how did Sky notice it when he was barely even around?
"You didn’t have to buy me anything," Chris said this in protest as Sky began to take them out of the bag.
"I know."
Those were the only words Sky said in response to that before he began to take out the products from their packs.
"You are beginning to treat him better than everyone else," Noel remarked, but Sky only laughed and didn’t answer. He looked really focused on sorting out the products.
"You should help me too when you’re done with him," Henry said.
"You can do your thing yourself, idiot." He replied dismissively, making Chris feel kind of special.
"How do you know how to do this? Are you the type to take your skincare routine seriously?" Chris asked him. He kind of liked looking at Sky from this angle. At this point, he didn’t even care that there were others in the room.
"I do." Sky smiled down at him. "When you have a really pushy twin sister, you just have to do so many things she does. So you can understand why I have such nice-looking skin." Sky added in his usual smug tone.
"Ehm... I don’t think that’s the cause. Everything about you is always perfect, remember?" Chris said it sarcastically, making Sky laugh.
"Are you guys seriously flirting in front of me right now when you’re supposed to be telling me how to get Rachel to date me?" Noel asked in disbelief, getting Chris’s attention. For a second, he forgot about the others because he was so into this moment. However, it seemed like these kinds of moments were never bound to last with Sky without them having a fight.
Chris’s phone rang. He struggled to take it out of his pocket while Sky used a face toner and cotton pad to wipe his face clean, and when Chris brought out his phone, he saw who the caller was. He had saved her name yesterday when she texted him to make sure he had her number saved.
"Emily?" Sky asked when he saw the screen. "When did you exchange numbers with her?"
That got the attention of the other guys, who all looked at Chris.
Well, his time on Sky’s laps was up.
