Jock Next Bed (BL) -
Chapter 164: Surprise!!!!
Chapter 164: Surprise!!!!
Hide.
Do not say a word.
Chris had heard those correctly, but his brain was too slow to react after what had just happened between them.
And it seemed like Sky’s brain was also slow because why didn’t he give him time to go hide in the bathroom instead like some secret lover in a cheap drama.
But he had no time to think things through either because he quickly sank lower into the bed and threw the covers completely over him.
Sigh!
The things he did for this guy.
The door finally creaked open.
"Mom," Sky greeted, voice still slightly out of breath. "You’re up early." Sky stood by the door like a guard dog, his body blocking any possible entrance.
He looked too guarded.
"When did you even come in? I was thinking of calling you."
"Last night," Sky said quickly.
She narrowed her eyes.
"Hmm." She looked him up and down.
Then—
"I heard voices," she said suddenly.
Sky’s stomach dropped.
Shit.
His mother tilted her head, eyes sharp. "Who were you talking to?"
"No one," Sky replied way too fast.
She didn’t buy it.
Without warning, she leaned past him, peering into the room. Sky’s pulse *spiked.*
For a moment, be briefly considered draping his mother over his shoulder and running away with her so she wouldn’t see. But if that happened, there may be a family meeting tonight with all of his extended families. And they would exaggerate the issue to the point that before it would get to his school mates, the story must have been fine tuned to say he had tried to kidnap his mother.
Her gaze swept over the bed—
And landed on the feet sticking out from under the covers.
Sky’s soul left his body when he followed her gaze and saw it.
Chris, you absolute IDIOT!
His mother blinked, clearly taken aback. "Who... is that?"
Sky’s brain short-circuited. His mouth opened—nothing came out.
Then—
A rustle.
And before Sky could think of what to say even though nothing seemed likely to get him out of this— Chris threw the covers off himself, sat up, and flashed her a brilliant grin.
"Surprise, Mrs. Sato!" he announced cheerfully.
Sky wished the earth would swallow him whole.
The poor woman looked stunned, her eyes darting between the two boys. "Why... what..."
She couldn’t even find her voice.
Sky cleared his throat, standing even straighter by the door, like that would somehow make him look less suspicious.
"We missed dorm curfew," he explained quickly. "So we came here, but Chris was just about to leave."
Chris, ever the actor, nodded along enthusiastically. "Yep! Just about to!"
But he didn’t get up immediately. He wasn’t sure how quickly it was for Sky’s hormones to return to normal and for his hard on to disappear, but his was still... hesitating.
Stupid Christopher junior.
Mrs. Sato’s gaze sharpened. "Did you sleep in here?"
By ’here’, she meant his room. On his bed.
Sky almost flinched. He schooled his expression, struggling to find the right words to answer first as he moved beside his mother. "Well, I—"
"I mean, technically—" Chris started, then immediately shut up when Sky subtly stomped on his foot.
The truth was—yes, Chris had slept in here. Which, logically, shouldn’t have been a big deal, but the problem was...
He never let anyone sleep in his room.
Not even Henry or Noel.
Even when either of them stayed over, they knew better than to even try. They got exiled to the living room. Not even the guest room. Just the couch.
His room was off-limits.
He also didn’t like staying with roommates in the dorm either but his parents thought it would help him be better.
Another issue was looming over their heads...
He even locked the door.
So for his mother to find Chris here...?
Yeah. He had no idea what she was thinking right now, but he really didn’t want to know.
Chris, meanwhile, seemed to sense the tension and tried to help.
"T-To be fair, Mrs. Sato, I was super tired, and Sky was like, ’Chris, you poor thing, how could I possibly make you sleep on the cold, hard ground when you’re so delicate and need proper rest?’"
Sky gawked at him.
Chris kept going.
"And I was like, ’No, no, Sky, I could never impose on your sacred sleeping space,’ but he insisted! You know how nice your son is. He was so worried about me. He practically begged me to stay. And sometimes I have nightmares. So he was like, ’I’ll just hang around in case they come,’"
Chris fumbled, tripping over his words in a desperate attempt to salvage the situation. But the more he spoke, the worse it got. His brain and mouth were clearly not in sync, throwing out half-baked explanations that made zero sense.
Chris knew he was an idiot. He was wincing badly within him.
He wanted to die.
Sky silently strangled him in his mind.
Mrs. Sato raised a brow. "Really."
"Yes, Mrs. Sato. You know—"
"Chris?" Sky’s voice was calm, but there was a dangerous edge to it.
Chris looked at him.
"Shut up," Sky said flatly.
Chris shut up.
Mrs. Sato, whether she suspected anything or not, simply looked at Chris, and then at Sky, and then back at Chris, and then smiled at him. "Anyway, I’m glad to see you again. I didn’t even notice when you left last time."
Chris let out a relieved breath. Oh, thank God, maybe she’s not paying too much attention to—
"And since you’re already here, I hope you don’t have any plans and will join the family."
Chris blinked.
What?
Sky turned to look at his mother, confused and panicked. "Join the family for what?"
She gave him an odd look, as if checking his face for signs that he was joking. When she realized he wasn’t, her expression softened into surprise. "You don’t remember what today is?"
Today? What was today? Sky opened his mouth. Closed it.
His mother’s next words hit him like ice water to the face.
