Chapter 156: "So you’re jealous?"

Chris closed the door behind him, his eyes immediately catching sight of Sky pacing the room like a caged animal. Sky’s hand kept raking through his hair in frantic motions, his jaw tight with whatever was clearly bothering him. Chris frowned, concern etching into his features.

Sky suddenly stopped in his tracks when he noticed Chris. Without a word, he walked past him, locking the door with a click that sounded far louder than it should have.

Chris’s brows furrowed. "Uh... okay?" he muttered under his breath, unsure of what Sky was doing.

Sky suddenly turned to him, stepping closer, his presence intense and almost suffocating. Chris instinctively took half a step back, momentarily caught off guard by the sudden proximity.

Sky’s hands lifted slightly, hovering near Chris’s face as if he was about to cup it. But then they froze mid-air, trembling for a split second before Sky swore under his breath and spun away abruptly, like he had just returned to his senses.

Chris blinked. "What the hell is wrong with you?" he asked, genuinely bewildered. "You’re acting like you’re about to combust."

He had never seen Sky react this way before and it was truly concerning. It felt like there was something within him trying to force its way out.

Sky did not respond. He stalked over to the window and shoved it open, letting a cool evening breeze filter into the room. He braced his hands on the sill, breathing heavily as though the air was suddenly too thick to inhale.

Chris hesitated before crossing the room, approaching Sky.

He hesitated again before placing a tentative hand on Sky’s back, rubbing slow, steady circles. Sky did not shove him away. He closed his eyes, trying to control his irregular breathing.

Chris wanted to ask him what was wrong but he didn’t. He just continued to rub his back slowly.

Sky seemed to relax for a moment under his touch. His shoulders dropped slightly, and his breathing steadied. But then, just as quickly, he moved away from Chris’s hand, creating distance between them.

He turned to face Chris, eyes clouded with a mix of frustration and something deeper—something raw and vulnerable.

"I’ve been thinking," Sky said suddenly, his voice low but unwavering. "And I’ve come to a conclusion."

Chris tilted his head, confused by the sudden shift.

He didn’t like where this was heading to. In that brief moment, different thoughts crossed his mind.

Did Sky want to move out of the dorm completely? Did he want to avoid him?

Was he going to tell him he wanted whatever was going on between them to stop?

Ah! The boy had to be dreaming. Because Chris had no intention of letting him go.

Never.

"Okay... about what?" Chris asked him, crossing his arms to hear whatever silly excuse this guy had come up with to cut ties with him after kissing him just last night.

Sky’s gaze flickered with hesitation before locking onto Chris.

"You... are not... completely straight."

Chris blinked, caught completely off guard.

Wait...

Was this it?

He looked at Sky, wondering if he had more to say but the boy was saying nothing else and just looking at him with a hint of accusation in his eyes.

Chris could not help but let out a short laugh, almost in disbelief. "Seriously?"

Sky’s lips pressed into a thin line, obviously not finding anything funny right now. "Yeah, seriously."

Chris shook his head with a bemused chuckle. "And how exactly did you come to that genius conclusion when you’re the one who kissed me last night

Remember?"

Sky’s jaw clenched. "That’s not what this is about."

"Then what is it about, Sky?"

Sky took a breath, his frustration bubbling just under the surface. "You were so comfortable with him last night. Smiling, chatting, even dancing with him like you didn’t care what anyone thought." His voice grew tighter. "And now you’re riding around with him, calling him ’Clair’ like you’re best friends."

Chris almost could not believe this.

They had a whole LOT of problems to tackle. Too many problems!

But that was what Sky was worried about right now? He didn’t know whether he was supposed to laugh or not.

"So you’re jealous?" Chris asked quietly.

Sky’s eyes narrowed into a sharp glare. "I’m not jealous."

Chris arched a brow. "You sure about that? Because it sounds a hell of a lot like jealousy to me."

Sky scoffed, though his voice cracked slightly. "I just think it’s funny how you’re suddenly all chummy with him. That’s all."

Chris pushed off the desk and took a step closer. "Sky, if you’ve got something to say, just say it."

Sky’s defenses wavered. He opened his mouth, then closed it, clearly at war with himself. "I don’t know... I just don’t like seeing you with him. Happy now?" He finally admitted, the words barely above a whisper.

’There you go, my pretty boy. Break for me.’

Chris thought to himself as his intense gaze bore into Sky.

"Why not?" He asked, his voice still calm.

Sky’s gaze darted away.

"You came here to speak with me, so speak..." Chris said, but his tone sounded patient.

There was no need to rush him.

He had patiently waited for the day Sky would completely break and realize he was wasting his time trying to run away from him when they were eventually going to end up together in the future.

There was no need to rush him now.

"It... it makes me feel like..." Sky trailed off, visibly struggling with the words.

Sky ran a hand through his hair, his frustration beginning to spring up again. "You said there were plenty of girls out there." Sky’s accusatory eyes glared at Chris as he continued, "Girls. But Sinclair... he’s a guy. Why... him?"

"You weren’t this interested when I kissed Ash and started hanging out with Gary," Chris reminded him.

But to be honest, he remembered the intense quarrel he had with Sky after he kissed Ash. Also, Sky had persistently mentioned Gary and reminded Chris he didn’t want any strange people, a.k.a., Gary, in their room. And not to mention the glares he always shot at them whenever he saw them together.

However, seeing how bothered he was about Sinclair, it could only mean that Chris had gotten under his skin.

Fully.
