Chapter 143: The obsession reveal (1)

Collins froze, staring at Sky like he didn’t recognize him. His chest heaved, caught between a desperate urge to lash out and the overwhelming instinct to flee. His gaze flickered to the destroyed phone, then to Sky’s trembling frame.

It was almost difficult to breathe in the room. Henry’s usually composed demeanor had cracked, his face tight with restrained concern. Noel, always the joker, stood silent now, his mouth slightly open as if searching for words that wouldn’t come.

"Sato," Noel finally croaked, stepping forward cautiously. "What... what was that? Are you—"

"Shut up," Sky snapped, cutting him off, his tone sharp enough to silence any further attempts. He turned his focus back to Collins, his head tilting slightly, a mocking smirk curling on his lips.

"Collins," he said, dragging the name out like a predator toying with its prey. His voice was too calm, too deliberate, the undercurrent of rage making it almost unbearable to listen to. "You’re hiding something, aren’t you?"

Collins took a shaky step back, his legs brushing against the bed. His voice, when he managed to find it, cracked under the weight of his fear. "I—It’s not what you think! Ash... he’s just—"

"Just what?" Sky interrupted, advancing on him. "Just your little accomplice? Your messenger? Or is he the one pulling your strings?"

Collins flinched as Sky stepped into his space, his knees buckling slightly. "I didn’t do anything wrong!" he shouted, but the waver in his voice betrayed him.

"You didn’t do anything wrong?" Sky’s voice rose, the thin thread of his control unraveling as he shoved Collins back against the bed. "Then why the hell do you have my birthday as your passcode? Why are you hiding messages from Ash?"

Collins’ breath hitched as he tried to shove Sky off, but it was like trying to move a brick wall. "You’re crazy! You’ve lost it!"

Sky’s laughter broke the tension, but it was anything but comforting. The manic edge in it sent shivers through the room. He raked a hand through his hair again, pulling at the strands as he paced in front of Collins.

"Crazy?" he echoed, spinning back around to face him. "Maybe. But at think about your answer carefully... whose idea was it for Ash to kiss Chris?"

"Sky Sato, enough!" Henry’s voice boomed, and for a second, the chaos paused. He stepped between Sky and Collins, his eyes hard as he locked onto Sky. "This isn’t solving anything."

Sky glared at him, the fire in his eyes refusing to die down. "You think I’m just going to let him get away with this? After everything Ash has done?"

"And breaking his phone, throwing him around—what’s that going to fix?" Henry shot back, his tone cold and steady.

Noel finally found his voice again, his usual humor replaced with unease. "Sky, man, this is getting way too weird. You’re scaring all of us."

Sky paused, his chest still heaving, his gaze darting between Henry, Noel, and Collins. His lips twitched, and for a moment, it seemed like he might explode again. But instead, he let out a sharp breath and took a step back.

Collins, still pressed against the bed, stared at him with wide eyes, his knuckles white as he gripped the sheets.

"I just need that answer! I knew Chris wouldn’t go about kissing Ash—"

"CHRIS! CHRIS!! CHRIS!!!" Collins finally bellowed. "EVERY FUCKING TIME!"

Collins exploded, his voice loud and trembling with frustration as he pushed himself off the bed. "You’re insane! Do you even hear yourself right now? Doing all this—breaking my phone, threatening me—just because you’re jealous?"

Sky froze, his sharp intake of breath audible even in the tense room. His eyes narrowed, but before he could respond, Noel, looking confused, stepped forward. "Jealous? Jealous of who?"

Henry, clearly sensing danger, immediately snapped, "Collins, shut up!" But Collins ignored him entirely.

"Jealous BECAUSE of Chris!" Collins spat, his voice breaking with emotion. He jabbed a finger toward Sky, his anger spilling out like a dam that had burst. "We’ve always been there for you, Sato. Always! When you had your mood swings, when you pushed us away, when you spiraled out of control—we stuck by you! Even before you started seeing a psychiatrist and had to go on meds, we were there, handling all your crap!"

Sky’s face hardened, but Collins kept going, his words rushing out like a man possessed.

"And then, one day, you show up and announce your stupid relationship with Mei like it’s no big deal. You barely gave us a heads-up, and yeah, I was shocked, but I accepted it. I accepted you. I always have. But you—" Collins broke off for a moment, his voice trembling. "You’re wavering, Sky. All because of Chris. Chris, of all people! Just for what? Because he is pretty?"

The room went deathly silent, but Collins’ voice rose louder, his tone unhinged. "I thought you were just messing around. I let it go because I thought you were just being your usual self when you try to de-stress. But no! Not once, not twice—I’ve seen you. I’ve seen you have mental breakdowns over Chris, like a total lunatic, because of something he said or something he did. Do you think I haven’t noticed? Do you think we all don’t see how you’ve been a mess this past week after you dismissed us from your home and secretly went to find him? Or how you have been avoiding him or any conversation that pans across to him?"

Noel’s mouth hung open in disbelief. Henry glanced between Collins and Sky, his expression unreadable but tight with tension.

Collins, breathing heavily now, seemed almost to unravel before their eyes. His hands shook at his sides as he pressed forward. "And don’t think I don’t know what happened at Ash’s party! I know you got drugged, Sato. I know you called Chris instead of us. You trusted him—a stupid stranger—over your own friends!"

The other two friends were stunned as this was a new piece of information to them all the other new pieces they were getting tonight.

Sky’s gaze hardened, his composure slipping, but Collins wasn’t done.

"I see you, Sky," Collins said, his voice quieter but no less cutting. "I see how close you are to breaking something, to beating someone, to throwing away everything you’ve worked for. And all because of him! A stupid, manipulative—"

"Don’t."

Sky’s voice was low, cold, and deadly, cutting through Collins’ rant like a blade. He grabbed Collins by the front of his shirt and yanked him forward with terrifying ease. His voice was a growl, every word dripping with venom. "Say one more word about Chris. I swear to God, I’ll kill you."

The room was stunned into silence, save for the sound of Collins’ ragged breathing.

Collins glared at him, his lips trembling with anger, but his expression said everything. See? it seemed to scream as he glanced at the other two.

Noel broke the silence first. His voice was low and disbelieving. "Sato... is it... true? Do you..." He hesitated, struggling to get the words out. "Do you love Chris?"
