Chapter 194: Chapter 194: Fleur Carson Wants to Stay
Although Yusuf Zuck was eager to find an investment advisor, he first needed to be able to trust them. In other words, the investment advisor had to be capable of managing his accounts, helping him make money, and also able to handle various disputes and the like.
In short, an investment advisor was like a moneybag, serving as his right-hand person. So when it came to finding an investment advisor, not just anyone would do.
When it came to the matters of saving and investing money, Yusuf Zuck kept his lips sealed and changed the subject. He wanted to investigate how Marlon Shepherd was as a person, his family background, love life, financial status, and so on after he returned. Only once he had the results of the investigation could he try to make some decisions, so at this moment, Yusuf Zuck didn’t want to say too much.
Collins Brown was very talkative, and Marlon Shepherd was also stable and spoke logically and methodically.
Yusuf Zuck’s personality was such that he could blend into a crowd, so he could get along with anyone and occasionally crack some jokes. Thus, he thoroughly enjoyed his conversation with the Shepherds. Before they parted, they exchanged phone numbers and agreed to meet again in Las Vegas.
The dinner was Marlon’s treat, as they had planned to eat out anyway, and Yusuf Zuck didn’t stand on ceremony or argue about paying the bill.
After parting ways, each of them returned to their respective hotels, and Yusuf Zuck took a bath and then went directly to sleep.
It wasn’t until after midnight, around two in the morning, that Fleur Carson tiptoed back into the suite, having disappeared for the whole afternoon and evening.
Even though Fleur Carson was very quiet, Yusuf Zuck still woke up, and upon waking, sat up and stared straight at Fleur Carson!
"Damn it, why are you looking at me like that? You going to eat me or something?" Fleur Carson cursed.
"Give me an explanation!" Yusuf Zuck said sternly, "Without an explanation, I’ll throw you out!"
"Why do I feel like you’re some sort of resentful woman confined to domestic quarters? What the hell is there to explain, didn’t I tell you I was going to see a friend?" Fleur Carson retorted with a smile and a curse.
Yusuf Zuck didn’t speak but looked very seriously at Fleur Carson.
Fleur Carson felt a little creeped out and guilty. Realizing that Yusuf Zuck was serious, he chuckled twice and said, "I went to see a woman, one I knew when I lived in Canada for nine months... Umm... a married woman!"
"Bastard!" Yusuf Zuck cursed.
"Come on, I just went to see her today; I had no intention of wrecking her family. Besides, her kid’s already five years old. She could be considered my purest... my first love, I guess? I gave her my first time!"
"I’m not interested in your love stories. I’m going to sleep, keep it down!" Yusuf Zuck didn’t inquire further. Everyone has a past, and there are secrets from the past that one doesn’t want others to know. So he didn’t want to ask about Fleur Carson messing around with other women. Matters of the heart were his own business.
"Listen, let me tell you about her. She’s also Chinese, got married when she was twenty to a guy thirteen years her senior. And today, when I saw her, she told me she’s now single because her husband died, and she also said..."
"Stop, that’s your own business, don’t tell me!" Yusuf Zuck cut him off, sensing that Fleur Carson seemed to have deep feelings for this woman.
"No, I have to say it because I’ve decided to stay here for a few months, so I can’t accompany you to Las Vegas," Fleur Carson suddenly said.
"For that woman?" Yusuf Zuck sat up again. What was this guy up to?
"Yeah, she’s run into a bit of trouble, so I want to be with her during this time. She needs me!" Fleur Carson said earnestly.
"Okay, you need money?" Yusuf Zuck didn’t hesitate, for a widow with a child, although Fleur Carson was willing, he was generally supportive. If the woman was married, he might advise otherwise, but now that she was a widow, she was free to marry, free in every way.
Fleur Carson was also a person of loyalty, so it was possible the woman really was in trouble, and he was quite rational in his actions.
"I was actually going to talk to you about money, could you lend me ten million?" Fleur Carson said, scratching his head awkwardly.
"Alright, you set up the transfer tomorrow!" Yusuf Zuck nodded.
"Thanks." Fleur Carson flopped down on the bed and took out a cigarette, lighting two, tossing one to Yusuf Zuck and then muttered to himself, "I saw her kid, but... but... it kind of feels like mine!"
"What?" Yusuf Zuck had just taken a drag when he started coughing violently.
"The kid’s age and birthday, they’re close to when I left," Fleur Carson said with a pained expression.
"Didn’t you ask her?" Yusuf Zuck urged.
"I asked, she wouldn’t say, she says it’s not mine, but it looks like it to me!" Fleur Carson said, half-laughing, half-crying.
"Then take her for a paternity test."
Fleur Carson blew a smoke ring and said, "Yeah, that’s my plan, so I need to stay. She’s run into some issues, like legal battles over some property after her husband died, and some people have been threatening her. I’d feel better if I stayed."
"Fine, let me know if you need anything and if you need my help," Yusuf Zuck nodded and said.
"Alright, but delay your departure by a day, I’ve got a little surprise for you," Fleur Carson suddenly winked at Yusuf Zuck.
"I’ve never been to Canada, so I didn’t leave any seeds here, and so, if you try to pass off some kid as my daughter or son, I’m gonna kick your ass!" Yusuf Zuck joked.
"Fuck you, I despise you!" Fleur Carson raised his middle finger and said, "Regarding the identity issue, she can help you get a Canadian registration, of course, the identity is fake, but this fake one can be deceivingly real."
"No way, for real? What does she do?" Yusuf Zuck jumped up, genuinely surprised. With a Canadian identity, he wouldn’t need to ride in the luggage compartment when flying around anymore.
"Whatever she does, don’t ask, just give me ten million tomorrow, then come with me to take pictures, and the day after tomorrow, I’ll give you your identity and passport."
"Come on, I’m spending ten million just for a fake identity?" Yusuf Zuck curled his lip. "I remember for immigrating to the United States, isn’t it like you just need half a million US dollars in the bank?"
Fleur Carson glared at Yusuf Zuck, "Take it or leave it. If you don’t want it, you still owe me ten million. I’m off to take a shower." With that, Fleur Carson ran into the bathroom to shower.
Yusuf Zuck squinted and pondered for nearly a minute, then immediately took out his phone and called Marlon Shepherd.
If he went to Las Vegas alone, first, he’d be a stranger in a strange land, and second, he couldn’t speak English, which would make it difficult to get anything done. So, opportune as it was, he thought of having Collins Brown be his translator.
Collins Brown spoke English, and Marlon Shepherd spoke both French and English.
"Yusuf Zuck, hello, what’s up calling this late?" The phone rang six or seven times before being picked up, and Marlon Shepherd sounded a bit groggy.
Yusuf Zuck slapped his forehead; he’d forgotten it was two or three in the morning. Either Marlon Shepherd was sleeping or engaged in some bedroom activities, so anyway, he was disturbing him.
"Sorry for interrupting your rest. Here’s the thing, my friend has decided to stay in Canada, so I’m going to Las Vegas alone, and I can’t speak English. So, I thought we could stick together. But don’t worry, I’ll cover all the expenses for food and accommodation, and I won’t get in the way of you two enjoying yourselves, won’t be a third wheel. I mean, once we’re in Las Vegas, you guys help me book a hotel, arrange a return flight, and maybe be my interpreter at the casino, that’s it. Sound good?"
"Sure, but you have to deposit a hundred million in our bank!" The call seemed to be snatched by Leila Brown, who directly laid out the condition, obviously joking.
"OK, I’ll deposit it when I get back!" Yusuf Zuck immediately agreed.
