Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Nannan’s Loyal Retainer
Seeing him like this, Xinan also chose to ignore him and just did her own thing, and her efficiency turned out to be much higher than usual.
In the past few days, she had almost memorized her lines, and with today’s higher efficiency, Xinan quickly finished memorizing them.
Xinan closed the script, stretched lazily, and then glanced at Cheng Yi, only to find that he was still looking at his phone.
When she used to be with Cheng Yi, even when there was nothing to do, Cheng Yi wouldn’t look at his phone for this long while in bed. What was up with him today?
Xinan suddenly became curious about what he was so engrossed in looking at. Could it be that he was chatting with someone else?
After observing Cheng Yi for a while longer, she noticed that smiles were hanging around his eyes and brows, and the arc of his lips was so pronounced.
What was he looking at that made him smile so happily?
Trying to be inconspicuous, Xinan gave a light cough, "I want to drink some water."
Cheng Yi looked up and met her gaze, "Thirsty?"
Xinan: "Mmm."
Without saying anything, Cheng Yi put his phone aside, stood up, and walked to the kitchen to pour water for Xinan.
Seeing this, Xinan quickly crawled over to Cheng Yi’s phone and picked it up, only to see that it was asking for a password.
Xinan frowned and entered Cheng Yi’s birthday, but was told the password was incorrect.
She thought about it, and then tried to enter her own birthday, but she still couldn’t unlock it.
What exactly was the password?
"What are you looking at?"
Out of instinct, Xinan hid Cheng Yi’s phone behind her back, raised her head, and saw Cheng Yi holding a glass of water, looking at her leisurely with a faint smile on his lips.
"Nothing," Xinan said, feeling somewhat guilty.
"Oh?" Cheng Yi raised an eyebrow, "Then why were you holding my phone just now?"
He had seen it after all.
Xinan defended herself confidently, "Can’t I check the time?"
Cheng Yi’s smile deepened, "Sure, of course."
He took a few steps closer and handed her a glass of water, "Here, didn’t you say you were thirsty?"
"Oh." Xinan took it and sipped.
Cheng Yi sat down, picked up the phone that Xinan had tossed onto the couch, and laughed when he saw the text displayed on it.
He asked somewhat helplessly, "Nannan, didn’t you say you wanted to check the time? How come it’s now saying you can enter the password after five minutes?"
With that question, Xinan felt even guiltier, her mind racing at this moment; she certainly couldn’t admit that she suspected he was looking at photos of beautiful women.
After thinking for a moment, she slowly looked at Cheng Yi, her gaze clear and innocent: "I originally just wanted to check the time, but since you said you liked me and wanted to pursue me, I thought I’d try and see if your password was my birthday."
She began to grumble, "But it wasn’t, even though you said you liked me, your screen lock password isn’t my birthday."
"What kind of logic is that?" Cheng Yi was dumbfounded by her statement.
"Many of my friends’ boyfriends have their screen lock passwords set to their birthdays."
"So, are you admitting that you’re my girlfriend now?" Cheng Yi asked with a curl of his lip.
Xinan countered, "I did not, I was just giving an example."
She pouted, "Besides, wasn’t it you who said you were going to pursue me? Yet your screen lock password isn’t my birthday... no sincerity at all."
"Who says I have no sincerity," Cheng Yi sighed, moving closer to Xinan, "Although the screen lock password isn’t your birthday, it’s actually our wedding anniversary. I think that day is the most important day of my life because I got to marry you."
Xinan looked up at him, "Really?"
"Of course."
Cheng Yi handed her the phone, saying gently, "You can look at anything inside."
Xinan really took the phone and entered the date they got their marriage certificate, and indeed the phone unlocked. Cheng Yi hadn’t lied to her.
Xinan suddenly regretted the things she had said to him earlier; he had shown plenty of sincerity.
When the screen unlocked, Xinan didn’t see a chat interface with someone else or photos of beautiful women, but her own portrait photos.
Cheng Yi had actually downloaded Weibo and only followed her!
Xinan was a bit incredulous; Cheng Yi, a man who rarely even used WeChat, had started using Weibo.
She looked again at Cheng Yi’s Weibo nickname, "Nannan’s Loyal Subject."
Xinan burst out laughing, "I never thought you would use such a ’chuunibyou’ nickname."
Cheng Yi, however, said very seriously, "Chuunibyou? Isn’t that how your fans name themselves?"
"My fans?"
"Mhm, from now on, I’m your fan too. I even joined your fan club."
Watching Cheng Yi maintain such a serious and earnest demeanor, Xinan opened Cheng Yi’s Weibo profile, and sure enough, she saw that Cheng Yi had joined her "super talk" and was already at level eight.
Xinan found it hard to believe that the once calm and aloof Cheng Yi would do such things. She looked him over, even starting to suspect whether the person standing in front of her was really Cheng Yi.
Cheng Yi, noticing Xinan staring at him, asked puzzledly, "What’s wrong?"
Xinan replied, "I’m seriously doubting whether you are still Cheng Yi or not. Or are you... having a split personality? Like the kind they show in dramas, where now the warm, passionate personality is coming out."
Cheng Yi laughed at Xinan’s wild imagination. He flicked her forehead gently and said, "What are you thinking?"
Rubbing her forehead and with a hint of grievance, Xinan muttered, "I can’t help but overthink. Who would expect you to be acting so out of character? If it were the past, you definitely wouldn’t do such things."
She had known Cheng Yi for so many years but had never seen him behave like this.
Cheng Yi, with a look of helplessness, said, "Nannan, the me of the past missed out on you because I wasn’t good at expressing myself. Now, I’m just showing the most passionate side of my heart."
"Alright," If Cheng Yi had gradually changed to this, it would be fine, but for him to suddenly become this way, she needed some time to adjust.
Cheng Yi looked down with a deep gaze, "Can you tell me now, why did you want to see my phone?"
Although she really didn’t want to say it, since Cheng Yi had shared so much honest feeling with her, it would seem a bit unreasonable to evade anymore—and besides, Cheng Yi wasn’t someone who could be easily fooled.
Xinan pressed her lips together, "I just saw you constantly on your phone, always smiling, I thought..."
"What did you think?" Cheng Yi tilted his head to ask.
"That you were looking at photos of beautiful women."
"What?" Cheng Yi was so taken aback by her words that he was left speechless for a long time.
Was he that kind of person?
"Who would make you smile so..." Xinan thought for a moment and then said two words: "lewdly."
Cheng Yi was choked up again. He twitched the corner of his mouth, "I’m lewd?"
The grown-up Cheng Yi had never been described that way before.
Ironically, she was someone he couldn’t scold or hit.
