Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Just a Kiss

Less than three days after signing the contract, Xinan received the script delivered by Li Hongya’s assistant.

So for the following week, Xinan was at home pondering over the script; Cheng Yi asked her out for meals several times, but she didn’t go.

When she rejected Cheng Yi for the third time, he called her.

At that moment, Xinan was lying back on the sofa on the balcony, legs lightly resting on a wooden round table, with the script on her legs and freshly washed and cut apples beside her.

She bit into an apple and answered the phone with a languid tone, "Why are you calling all of a sudden? Didn’t you just say you were in a meeting?"

Cheng Yi sat in the meeting room, twirling a pen in one hand, his previously sullen mood brightening instantly upon hearing Xinan’s voice.

He spoke with a smile in his voice, "It just ended."

"Mr. Yi, this document still needs your signature."

Hearing the female voice coming from the phone, Xinan’s mouth twitched a bit, "Mr. Yi really is a busy man!"

Cheng Yi took the documents Secretary Li handed over, looked them over carefully to ensure there were no issues, then swiftly signed with a pen.

Regarding Xinan’s sarcastic remark, he simply laughed it off, "What would you like to eat tonight?"

"I’m busy, I have to read the script at home tonight." Xinan used the same excuse again to fend off Cheng Yi.

"Nannan, count how many times I’ve asked you out? If you don’t give me a chance... how can I pursue you?" Cheng Yi raised an eyebrow, though his tone carried not a trace of reprimand.

As Secretary Li prepared to leave with the documents, she was momentarily stunned by Cheng Yi’s magnetic and gentle voice.

During the three seconds she was stunned, countless question marks popped up in her mind.

Is Mr. Yi pursuing someone?

Doesn’t he have a girlfriend?

Could they have broken up?

Previously, because of that girl, Cheng Yi had given her a raise, so Secretary Li had secretly shipped the two for a while, only not expecting them to break up so soon; she hadn’t even met the girl.

Silently sighing in her mind, Secretary Li thought... indeed, men are visual creatures, quick to change their hearts.

Meanwhile, the two on the phone were utterly unaware that they had already been labeled as unworthy individuals.

Xinan retorted, "Opportunities are seized, not given by others."

The smile on Cheng Yi’s lips unconsciously widened, his tone one of realization, "Is that so? I got it now."

"What did you get?" Xinan’s eyes flickered with confusion.

Cheng Yi playfully responded, "You’ll know soon."

Half an hour later, the doorbell of Xinan’s home was rung.

Opening the door, there stood Cheng Yi.

Xinan stammered, "Why are you here? Didn’t I say I was busy?"

"So... I brought spicy crayfish, sweet and sour pork, kung pao chicken, and rib and winter melon soup..." Cheng Yi said.

Only then did Xinan notice the white bag in Cheng Yi’s hand. Although she really wanted to quietly read the script, who could refuse delicious food?

Thus, Xinan gently coughed and stepped aside, "Come in."

And just like that, Cheng Yi entered Xinan’s apartment once again.

Since Xinan wanted to eat while watching TV, Cheng Yi placed the takeout dishes on the coffee table.

As soon as these dishes were taken out, Xinan could smell the tempting aroma.

As she was about to join the production group soon, Xinan had been deliberately dieting these past few days, not having indulged in heavy foods for several days.

So Cheng Yi’s visit was perfectly timed.

Just as Xinan was about to pick up her chopsticks, she hesitated and looked at Cheng Yi, "If I eat this just once today, it shouldn’t make me fat, right?"

People on a diet usually ask this just to find some psychological comfort, allowing them to feel more justified while eating.

But what Xinan didn’t know was that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder; no matter how heavy she got, she was always the most beautiful in Cheng Yi’s eyes.

So she heard Cheng Yi say very assuredly, "No."

With that settled, Xinan had no further concerns and joyfully started to eat.

With Cheng Yi peeling shrimp for her, all she needed to do was enjoy eating, and after they were done, Cheng Yi took care of cleaning up.

Once Cheng Yi was done cleaning, Xinan began to issue a dismissal, "I need to start memorizing my lines. You should go now."

But Cheng Yi wasn’t so easily dismissed; he squinted his eyes and slowly approached Xinan until he was standing in front of her, leaning close to whisper in her ear, "What? After using me, you want to send me away?"

Xinan involuntarily stepped back two paces, retreating to the corner of the sofa, stuttering, "I, I didn’t use you...isn’t it you who said to seize the opportunity?"

Cheng Yi lightly touched her nose, "Heartless."

Xinan awkwardly turned away, afraid to meet his eyes, "Don’t stand so close, I really need to memorize my script; I’m joining the set in a few days."

"I’ll just stay here with you, I promise not to disturb you," he was not ready to leave so soon.

"Really?"

"Yes." Cheng Yi stared at her fluttering eyelashes, his smile deepening, "But... can you give me a reward?"

Xinan met his gaze, her heart skipping a beat, and nervously, she asked, "What... reward do you want?"

"Can I kiss you?"

He laughed, his expression ambiguous yet serious.

The warm indoor lighting cast on Cheng Yi’s face, accentuating his sharp features. His lips curled up in a tender, doting smile, causing Xinan to feel somewhat dazed, yet a ripple stirred in her heart.

A uncontrollable emotion simmered under this light, further enhancing the already intimate atmosphere.

The temperature around them subtly rose, and her breath carried a hint of warmth, "Just one kiss."

"Okay," Cheng Yi’s voice turned husky.

But Cheng Yi’s kiss was never just a peck; he cradled Xinan’s head with his right hand and held her with his left, a faint scent of tobacco surrounding them, the living room filled with nothing but their intimate, tender breathing.

After about ten minutes, Cheng Yi slowly released Xinan, his fingertips gently caressing her cheek.

Their eyes met, Xinan still in a dazed state, her mind slightly muddled.

Cheng Yi’s eyes were downcast, his brows and eyes slightly curved, "Alright, that’s it."

Having said that, to show he really wouldn’t disturb Xinan, he even deliberately moved a bit farther away.

When Xinan came to her senses, he was already casually sitting on the sofa browsing his phone.

So much for just a light kiss! His words meant nothing after all!

Although she felt quite annoyed, Xinan ultimately didn’t confront Cheng Yi; after all, such matters were too embarrassing to discuss.

Cheng Yi, in the end, didn’t speak to Xinan again, staying quietly by the side. Except for a trip to the restroom, he didn’t make any sound whatsoever.
