Chapter 97: Tom’s Family

Since Naylah’s funeral, Jayden hadn’t minded meeting Tom and his stepsisters. Well, it was his choice whether he chose to meet them or not, and he said he wouldn’t be nailed if he didn’t.

At first, Jayden had promised himself that he would have nothing to do with them, but with time, at least, he figured that leaving them just like that wasn’t entirely the best thing to do.

Sure, it wasn’t like he had any thoughts of living with them. Of course, he would never think about something like that...

But he wanted to help them, especially the three kids who were definitely lacking a lot.

Vena, Teresa, and Katie... He had somehow found it hard to forget their names, but he believed it meant something.

"Perhaps Dad would want me to do this," he muttered.

That same day, he traveled to the city where Tom lived. It was a low-class bungalow in an underdeveloped street. Jayden continued to wonder why his mother had settled for this, but he tried to get those thoughts out of his head.

He had to ask for directions before he finally found the place, and when he got there...

Katie was the first to spot him.

The three kids were playing outside the house, but Tom wasn’t spotted at that point.

"Vena! Teresa! Look, it’s Jayden!"

The three kids rushed to give him a hug, and just then, Tom rushed out of the house. Spotting Jayden, he appeared with a smile that held a deep sense of joy.

The kids hugged him tight, as Jayden held on with a complicated look on his face. At that point, he didn’t even know how to react.

"Welcome, Jayden. Please come in," Tom said as he approached him.

Jayden agreed to go with them into the house, and Katie and Teresa held his hands as they walked in.

"It’s been really hard since she left. The kids still can’t accept that fact, but I’ve been trying to help them forget," Tom said as they settled in.

"That’s good. They’ll get through this in no time," Jayden nodded with confidence.

He was just at their age when he stopped seeing his mother, and he got through it, so he was sure they would too.

"Uhm, I still have to apologize, Jayden. I had no idea that she was married. We only met one day and got together. She never told me anything about it until she was confirmed to have cancer. She was trying to raise some money to bring up the case again, but you know, I couldn’t support her because of my financial instability. So when she was called by the Vanes, she quickly tried to use that opportunity."

"It’s so heartbreaking that she didn’t succeed. But believe me, she always regretted abandoning you," Tom spoke.

Jayden didn’t want to get any more emotional, and he quickly cut Tom off.

"It’s alright. We’ve gotten past that. We should let her rest in peace."

Tom nodded with a sad look.

"So the children... Why aren’t they in school?" Jayden was suddenly hit by that realization as he asked.

"Well, they were sent away recently. After spending all I had on their mother’s hospital bills, I no longer have enough to pay their fees," Tom said.

Jayden’s face darkened as he glanced at the kids. It was a sad situation, and it would be wrong if he didn’t help out, not when he was wealthy enough to do so.

"Well, they should go back to school soon enough... A better school. I’ll be taking care of their fees from now till high school. College too..."

Tom’s face brightened as he heard that.

"Thank you, Jayden. I’m so grateful," he said, his eyes glinting with delight.

"It’s nothing. You should also send your account details. It wouldn’t be nice to see you living in this kind of environment and do nothing," Jayden added.

When Tom sent his bank details, Jayden stunned him with a total of two million dollars, which left Tom completely speechless.

Just like that, his stepson changed his life before he could even realize it, and he just couldn’t be more happy.

Tom felt like he was in a dream—but he really wasn’t.

Before Jayden left, he had a short talk with the kids, with Katie—who was just seven and the youngest child—being the most fun.

Vena was twelve, and Teresa was nine.

They were quite beautiful kids, and Jayden just couldn’t resist his affection for them. Perhaps that was how soft-hearted he could be after everything that had happened, but one thing was sure...

He was doing the right thing.

He was sure of that.

Jayden spent a whole week outside Dominion Island as Jayden Cole. One of the things that had kept him outside was the upcoming final exams in Sky High University.

It was only two weeks to go now, and that way, he would be regarded as a complete graduate from one of the best business universities in the world.

He arrived on campus with the Nova X for an important lecture. Many students were still idolizing the smart car, but at that point, Jayden had no time to show off, as he rushed in, already getting late.

Fortunately, the lecturer hadn’t shown up yet, but the class was already filled.

Luka. Richy. Royce.

Paula was present as well.

There was no sign of Sofia, but Jayden didn’t care.

Paula appeared to have secured a seat near her for him, as he approached and pecked her on the cheek, drawing some attention around.

Paula blushed at that point, but Jayden didn’t do too much since he didn’t want to oppress anyone.

The smart lady Echo was playing the other side of her identity pretty well, and he loved it.

...

The moment Royce noticed Jayden’s presence, he didn’t fail to rant like he always did.

And Jayden wasn’t surprised at all...

"Now that The Dominus and my father are allies, Kingsley Group is certainly going to the top of the world. No tiny rat," Royce stared in Jayden’s direction. "No brat can even touch our feet, because we are going to make them crumble. All of them. You all should start worshipping me now, so you’ll be on my good side when the purge begins."

Royce was referring to everyone in the class, and even many were shaken by what he had said, knowing really well who The Dominus is and what he had done recently.

However, Jayden and Paula only stared at each other and chuckled, composed.
