Chapter 52: 2nd Opening of The System Interface
Meanwhile, in a different distant location.
FWIP!
The old man and his granddaughter appeared out of thin air. They stood atop a rooftop, watching as two powerful persons frantically searched around. It was right around now that the old man smirked, doing so for two reasons.
"Who would’ve thought that disciple of mine would nearly notice my existence? His intuition has sharpened over the years," he murmured. "And that kid—playing two veteran Master Mages for fools at his age; he’s truly a once-in-a-millennium genius."
Siya, his granddaughter with long white hair, tilted her head. She was puzzled. What was so great about that? She didn’t understand.
Seeing the adorably bewildered expression she was making, the old man chuckled.
"You may not be able to comprehend it because of how much I’ve assisted you, but not everyone has the support of a Peak Great Grandmaster," he explained. "For you, I gave you everything, even reforming your physical body with Magicule-enriched medicinal baths and semi-divine secret skills. This Jin, however, may be a Crown Prince of a Kingdom, but he is simply... too young.
He hasn’t had the chance to be exposed to the various valuable resources that this world has to offer.
He has cultivated to the point of outclassing skilled Master Mages all by himself.
So although you may have been a strong contender for the number one genius under heaven before, things have... changed with that boy’s birth."
Siya wasn’t old enough to comprehend the true meaning behind her grandfather’s words. She could only put together that the boy she liked the appearance of was actually quite amazing. Her eyes shone even brighter after realizing this.
"This granddaughter of mine..." The old man sighed. "I just hope that she’ll have this same attitude in the future when the boy takes away her spotlight, whether on purpose or as a result of his freakishness."
...
Some time later.
Within the Capital City of the Moon God Kingdom.
A small hooded boy maneuvered through the streets. His nose wrinkled every so often, for he sensed two powerful figures phasing in and out of the layers between space.
One of the figures was vastly stronger than the other, yet neither appeared to hold any ill will toward him. This was also why he hadn’t acted against them up to this point.
But more so than their power levels and identities, Jin was more interested in the more powerful figure’s method of hiding in the folds of space.
’Tearing space should be impossible for even Rank 5 continent-destroying Evolvers in the Main World, so how is it that someone not even equal to Rank 4 can accomplish the same thing?’
A theory he had was related to the difference in levels between worlds—something like the Main World having far more robust and complex Laws making up its spatial layers, subsequently increasing the difficulty of doing whatever you wanted to the world.
An extension of this theory was that all other Laws and the existential makeup of the Main World were far superior.
Jin had a nagging feeling that this topic was a whole lot more important than it seemed. In the back of his mind, he even felt that the Laws of this world, which was higher in tier than Huaxia, would be vital to his future progression into Rank 4.
While mulling over this, he decided to open up his system interface.
[Name: Jin Stratus]
[Identity: Holder of the Myriad Realms Gate]
[Bound Talent: Against-Heaven’s Understanding]
[Realm(s): Rank 2 Level 12, Intent Merging (Pinnacle), Great Grandmaster Mage (Pinnacle)]
[Current Status: Consciousness Descended]
[Remaining Residence Time: 43 years]
[Descent: Not Ready - 8 Main World Months Remaining until next recharge (Consciousness only)]
’In the little time I have left, will I be able to comprehend enough to perfect the 3rd Chapter of the Martial Dao and Supreme Dao and even somehow integrate the Laws of a world into my insights?’
Even with a comprehension talent that defied all logic, Jin was beginning to feel a little hopeless.
Advancing into Rank 3 could happen whenever he wished, but to take things a step further and perfect his self-explored understanding of Rank 3 in a mere half-century was...
"Haiz... Perhaps I should just do what I can do instead of thinking about things I can’t change."
Suddenly thinking of something, Jin rubbed his chin. "Now that I’m expending all this brain power, I’m curious as to where my father went."
During the Trial, he and his mother were present. They were watching him and his older sister in secret. However, sometime after the start of the Gravity Run, which left only 76 as students of the Academy, the King and Queen vanished.
’It’s probably because of the war with the Raven God Kingdom, which has escalated in recent years,’ Jin speculated. ’But for the Monarchs of this Kingdom to move around so urgently, I wonder what exactly has happened at the borders...’
...
At an undisclosed area where the representatives of several kingdoms often convened.
In a torch-lit underground cellar beneath a wild forest of green.
"How is the distraction coming along?" asked the owner of a grimdark voice.
"It’s going just as planned; those two foolish brats as well as most of the Grandmaster Mages in the Moon God Kingdom have mobilized," responded a thin man with an evil air about him. "If not for the presence of the True Spirit God overseeing the Moon God Kingdom, we wouldn’t have to go about things this way to eliminate those weaklings, but now that we have the chance, we must..."
"Eliminate the Crown Prince," all the shadow-veiled figures in the room said in unison.
Although all of their assassination attempts until now had failed miserably for some unknown reason—probably because of a secret bodyguard—this time was different. They were sure to see the Crown Prince dead within the next few days.
"Even though it’s shameful for the Ancestors to personally act against a junior, after informing them of the Crown Prince’s recently revealed potential, they have reluctantly agreed to assist us," said the first figure that spoke. "They understand just as well as we do that we cannot permit this anomaly to continue growing. And with three Great Grandmaster Mages setting out to dispose of this thorn in our side, there’s no way our plan will fail."
Everyone in the dimly lit room revealed sinister grins.
They then vanished into thin air, with the hung candles having their flames blown out in the same instant.
