Chapter 44: 7 Years, Moon God Academy

Elements, although fewer in number than comprehensible Intents in the Main World, were far more organized and pure. There were only a few dozen Elements for which Mages could cultivate with the necessary affinity, but there was a near-endless number of Sub-Elements.

Best part of all was that the Sub-Elements were directly derived from their Parent-Elements, meaning they were nowhere near as scattered as the countless Intents in the Main World. Consequently, this made it far easier to comprehend many of the Sub-Elements while relying on one’s understanding of the Parent-Element.

However, for normal Mages, you had to have the proper affinity for the Element in question to gain access to the relevant Sub-Elements. Moreover, you had to have additional, lesser affinities for the specific Sub-Elements to cultivate them.

Although the affinity required for the Sub-Elements was far less stringent than for the Parent-Element, you nonetheless needed it.

For example, say you had Peak Affinity for the Fire Element. If you wanted to pursue the Sub-Elements of Smoke, Burn, and Friction as well, then you needed at least a Low Affinity for each of them.

Fortunately, chances were that if you had a Peak Affinity for a Major Parent-Element, you’d also have a Low Affinity and above for a good portion of the Major Element’s Sub-Elements.

Unfortunately, finding those specific Sub-Elements that you had an affinity for out of a sea of them was like finding a needle in a haystack.

"But in recent times, the 42 Kingdoms have developed a spherical tool called a Magic Affinity Tester. With it, all your Primary Elements and Secondary Elements with an affinity above zero will be listed."

This was actually something Jin was curious to test out for himself. After all, unlike the people of this world who followed the Mage Path, he followed the Martial Dao Path.

He didn’t necessarily need Magicules.

He also didn’t need a specific energy.

There wasn’t even a point in him possessing any sort of high innate talent.

Even with nothing but himself, he could use Essence Refinement to reach the peak. It’d simply take longer than if he were to convert the Magicules in the air into what he needed before.

There also wasn’t a need for him to skim through scriptures and cultivation techniques to comprehend Intents. With Against-Heaven’s Understanding, everything would be comprehended in due time, and enlightenment could come from nothing.

But if there were shortcuts available, why purposefully take the hard way?

Converting Magicules into Refined Essence was a shortcut.

Reading Cultivation Techniques to understand Intents was another shortcut.

There was no reason to ignore these shortcuts just for the sake of relying only on himself. That wouldn’t be defending his pride, it’d just be articulating his stupidity.

"Even though I’m about to condense my 3rd Strand of Cosmic Singularity Intent, I still feel as if I’m a long, long way from reaching any kind of tipping point," Jin sighed. His cultivation and comprehension speed already defied common sense, but even that wasn’t enough to satisfy his hunger.

"If I was stronger and wasn’t in this tiny, uncomfortable form, I’d have already raided the Royal Libraries of the other Kingdoms as well. I’d also challenge every strong Mage in secret, comprehending even more Intents."

Looking around, Jin saw a totally read-through library and no sparring partners. A frown formed. f\r(e)ewe.b no\vel.com

"If only I could get my hands on a Super Element Crystal. Then I wouldn’t have to worry about lack of material to comprehend Intents from for a while."

Super Element Crystals were highly concentrated masses of Elements containing untold numbers of Sub-Elements formed in areas of High Elemental Density.

However, as they were extremely beneficial to Mages of all Ranks, they were monopolized as soon as they were discovered. Only supremely talented geniuses or powerful Mages were in possession of them.

"Although my Path is different from the Path that any other being in this world follows, I can still make it look like I cultivate the same Path, as I understand the Mage Path very well. This is to say that I can make myself appear like some sort of Magic Genius, and receive the opportunity to obtain some Super Element Crystals," Jin stroked his baby chin in contemplation.

"I’d just have to figure out how much talent to show..."

Magic prodigies around the world would bang their heads against walls if they heard what Jin just said, talking about his talent like it was boundless.

Most onlookers would claim him to be shameless beyond compare!

But they’d be ignorant of the true monstrosity that was Jin Stratus, or as he would come to be known in this world—

Arthur Pendragon.

...

Year 11,239 of the New Magic Calendar.

Six and a half years following Jin’s return to Rank 2 Level 3 Evolver status.

Moon God Academy’s Testing Area.

Open to the public, people all around the world could come to the wide, expansive area on the backside of Moon God Academy. Of course, with the inconvenient location of the Kingdom in the middle of the sea, rarely did anyone other than the locals of the nation come to attend this grand, public event.

An event featuring the unveiling of the talents that the future of the Kingdom possessed.

At seven years old, your ’Talent for Magic’ was said to awaken. This was also the age that most in the Moon God Kingdom were when they first traveled to the Moon God Academy to get their talents tested.

Of course, that didn’t mean everyone got themselves tested at seven, as there were many standing outside the Academy today that were eight, nine, and above. But past eighteen years of age, you simply weren’t allowed to get your talents tested at the Academy anymore, as they did this open testing to identify potential seedlings, not the old and expired.

Available to the public and accessible by everyone, literally every youth of the Kingdom could visit the Moon God Academy and figure out if they had a future as a Mage. And every year, just as the first snow would fall in winter, tens of millions of kids ranging between seven and eighteen years old would arrive at the Testing Area.

Though it may be odder than a normal testing area, the one that belonged to Moon God Academy was located in a canyon valley. A valley so massive that it stretched in every direction for many miles, the freshly laid snow struggling to cover it all.

On the high-ground section of this valley, hundreds of millions of citizens and foreigners watched from above.

Meanwhile, down below, the millions of youngsters were being scrutinized by the spectators. Spread out in front of them were tens of thousands of Magic Affinity Tester Balls, as well as hundreds of Academy staff standing beside them.

Just as the nerves of many of the youths were failing them, a loud, military-sounding voice echoed all around, projected by magic.

"This will undoubtedly be the undisputed most important day of your lives."

"It will decide your future. And will make you accept reality."

"But to those of you who will pass the Elemental Affinity test today, no matter your status or family name, your testing will be far from over. You have simply passed the preliminaries to become an ordinary Academy student."

"In Moon God Academy, competition is fierce—especially in the beginning."

"That is where the second part of the testing will assist you greatly, for if you pass it as well, and with a high enough score, you can immediately ascend the Academy’s ladder. In one step, you can make a thousand large leaps; you just have to keep on persevering."

"However, that’s enough of that. Why don’t we proceed with the Magic Ball Testings??"
