Chapter 938: Chapter 1: The Girl with Black Long Straight Hair_3

Paper rustled, as if overflowing with the scent of ink!

When the girl looked up, even with Tang Zheng’s composure, he couldn’t help but be startled. The girl had a lovely face, with red lips like cherries and eyebrows like crescents, but her left eye was dull and lifeless, blind.

Tang Zheng silently walked into the Supermarket. For some reason, he suddenly didn’t want to leave. The girl was reading "The Sorrows of Young Werther," a very old book.

As "Hotel California" played on repeat, Tang Zheng leaned against the shelves and listened to it seventeen times in total. The girl glanced at him in surprise but then left him be, making no move to drive him away.

"I’m really bored to death." When the clock pointed to ten, Tang Zheng exhaled and randomly picked some items, heading towards the cash register.

"Hello, that’ll be 128 dollars!" The girl processed his purchase with practiced ease, her breathing steady, devoid of any unnecessary chatter.

Just as Tang Zheng took out the money to hand it to the girl, eight youths with dyed hair pushed open the glass door and walked in.

"Where’s today’s money, give it to me!" A boy around seventeen or eighteen shoved his way to the front, slapping the table impatiently.

Tang Zheng furrowed his brows.

"Hey, what are you standing there for? If you’ve finished buying stuff, then scram." One of the youths blew a smoke ring and glanced at Tang Zheng before shooing him away like a fly with a flick of his arm.

"Sir, your change." The girl probably didn’t want to cause trouble for Tang Zheng, promptly handing back a hundred bucks for him to leave quickly.

Because of this act, Tang Zheng’s good feelings towards her soared. She was a kind girl.

"That’s not right. These items must come to more than a hundred," said the boy, who often hung around the Supermarket and clearly knew the price of everything. He reached out to snatch Tang Zheng’s money and kept cursing at the girl, "I knew it. The money in the store has been short. All because of you, freak. Can’t even do arithmetic? Lucky we didn’t let you go to University, otherwise it would’ve been a waste of money!"

The big boy cursed incessantly, taunting the girl and uncovering the most painful wound in her heart, not just her eye but also the stepmother’s schemes to keep her from going to University.

Tang Zheng didn’t want to get blood on his hands, so he turned to get a can of Beer from the shelf.

"Hey, Xiao Tao, although your sister’s gone blind, she’s got a great figure, especially those ****, so big, hehe, how about letting me be your cheap brother-in-law?" The lead youth’s eyes roamed greedily over the girl, harassing her.

"Wei Ge, look at you talk. My sister isn’t good enough for your tastes. What about Li Hong, the one you were with the day before yesterday? She’s so much better," the boy flattered the youth with a broad grin, and upon seeing his half-sister hadn’t taken any money, he cursed, leaned over the cash register, and grabbed the cash.

The girl tried to stop him, but in vain. She was easily pushed down by the boy.

"Whoa, so you’ve taken a fancy to Li Hong, huh? How about it? Are her breasts big? Want to give them a squeeze?" The youth glanced at the boy and chuckled, "I could give you a chance, you know?"

"But isn’t she your girlfriend?" The boy was somewhat dumbstruck.

"We broke up already. If you like her, I can set up a date with her for you. But your sister’s gotta spend a day with me," the youth shamelessly proposed.

"Also, join us for a round." The others started to egg on, and the girl trembled with rage, especially when she heard her brother agree, causing her Cheek to drain of blood.

"You freak. If you refuse, I’ll tell mom you stole money from the store," the boy howled, worried the ugly girl might cause him to lose face.

Though through their conversation, one could guess their relationship, hearing it spoken aloud still made Tang Zheng sigh. The girl indeed had a hard life.

The youth eyed the girl’s graceful figure and couldn’t resist any longer. Glancing at the deserted Main Street and seeing no one, he became visibly agitated.

"Hey, I’m talking to you. Get out now." The youth called Wei Ge pushed the boy aside, stepped towards the cash register, and the girl stepped back, hiding her hand behind her back and clutching the Wooden baseball bat kept there.

A girl guarding the Supermarket late at night had to have something for protection. Even if it was useless, it was a comfort psychologically.

Tang Zheng didn’t bother exchanging words. He swung his arm and smashed the can of Beer on the guy’s forehead, causing Blood to instantly run down his face.

Wei Ge was dumbstruck in an instant, followed by a pain on his scalp as his hair was grabbed, and then the cash register loomed large in his vision.

"Don’t!" Before Wei Ge’s cry could escape his throat, Tang Zheng slammed him down, leaving him sprawling on the floor like a dead Snake.

Blood Splattered across the cash register.

"Beat him up! He owes us for medical expenses!" This was a rare opportunity to extort medical fees, and the Hooligans didn’t want to miss out, swarming him in the belief that seven against one ensured victory.

"Run!" The girl, kind-hearted as she was, swung the Baseball Bat at the leading hooligan to buy Tang Zheng time.

Tang Zheng extended his arm and caught the Baseball Bat, swinging it across the youth’s mouth. Six yellow teeth went flying as the youth screamed and collapsed to the ground.

Tang Zheng’s leg lashed out with a whip kick to the left, sending one of the youths flying, followed by the Baseball Bat whirling through the air, landing thunderous blows on the stomachs of several hooligans.

Blood Splattered, screams rose and fell, and against the backdrop of Hotel California, it was particularly jarring.

A middle-aged man walking by, intending to buy something, just pushed open the glass door when he saw the scene of hooligans strewn across the floor and was scared off.

"Damn, I’ve been in Trojan World too long. Almost didn’t hold back," Tang Zheng cursed. He still showed restraint; otherwise, these guys could look forward to spending their next lives in wheelchairs.
