Chapter 937: Chapter 1: The Girl with Black Long Straight Hair_2

In the elevator room, the waiter sneaked a glance at Tang Zheng and then involuntarily took a step back. There was no helping it; although his sportswear was intact, a faint stench of blood emanated from his body. Paired with his stern face, it was truly chilling, and the twenty-year-old girl became frightened.

"A human head?" Tang Zheng saw the waiter’s finger constantly pressing the door-open button and found it somewhat amusing, so he suddenly frowned, showing a shocked expression. His gaze passed over the girl’s shoulder, landing behind her, and he instinctively took a step back.

The girl in the blue uniform was startled by Tang Zheng’s behavior, shivered, and couldn’t help stepping back before turning to look.

"There’s nothing there?" On the bright elevator wall, there was only a faint shadow of a person. The female waiter let out a sigh of relief, then turned her head to see Tang Zheng standing solemnly as if nothing had happened. She realized she had been pranked and couldn’t help but pout.

"So this is what it feels like to be alive." Tang Zheng let out a long sigh, his thoughts drifting to Cheng Cheng and Chen Hong, and he felt a wave of sadness.

"Room 806, here’s your key card. If you need breakfast, you can call the front desk." The female waiter opened the door, went through her routine introduction, and perhaps to get back at him for his prank, she added, "There are no other guests on this floor."

"No worries, I’m not afraid of ghosts. By the way, do you have any discs of ’The Ring’ or ’Ju-On’? I’m looking to pass the time." Tang Zheng said nonchalantly, which terrified the female waiter, making her hairs stand on end. She didn’t dare stay any longer, leaving the key card behind and quickly walking away.

"Insufferable madman." The sound of high-heels tapping on the floor echoed ’click-clack’ in the quiet hallway, indeed inducing a sense of panic. The female waiter couldn’t help but quicken her pace, eventually breaking into a run towards the elevator, pressing the buttons incessantly.

"Heh, a bath!" Playing a prank had improved his mood a great deal. Tang Zheng stripped naked and enjoyed a hot shower, then dove into his bed, relishing his sweet dream.

In the Trojan Horse Game, sleeping was a luxurious indulgence. Thus, in reality, the Conquerors would all sleep until the next day’s afternoon, straight through to dusk.

Tang Zheng was dreaming of beating up Trojan when the ethereal ringing of a bell woke him up.

"Uncle, you big lazybones, you’re still sleeping!" Lu Fan’s crisp voice came through the receiver, and she couldn’t resist sharing her good news, "I’m taking Dad to see Mom tomorrow, so I can’t keep you company."

"Yeah, have fun." It seemed that Fanfan’s parents’ relationship was improving, and Tang Zheng was genuinely happy for her. A child should enjoy the warmth of family, rather than clinging to a weird uncle for affection.

"I’m hungry; where should I go eat?" Tang Zheng didn’t want to settle for takeout on this rare occasion, so he put on a new set of sportswear and left.

When he left the lobby, several waiters pointed and whispered to each other, gossiping not about his handsomeness but rather that he had slept an entire day.

By eight in the evening, Tang Zheng had settled his dinner and was wandering aimlessly. During this time, he made calls to everyone. Shen Qingshuang and Zuo Yi’s issues were resolved, as they were training with Qin Yan and didn’t need his worry.

Pang Meiqin hinted she wanted to visit him, but he rejected her, and Jing Xiang was troubled about losing her job, getting scolded by her mother, and then being set up on a blind date.

"I’m not a psychologist; coming to me won’t help," Tang Zheng said, not knowing how to deal with Jing Xiang’s complaints and crying, "Just don’t let it slip, or you’ll be ’erased’."

"Hey, are you free tomorrow? Maybe come over for dinner?" Jing Xiang suddenly mustered the courage to say, although her voice trailed off toward the end, and her entire face blushed.

"Some other time." Tang Zheng refused.

"Who is that, hanging up on my Xiang Xiang like that? So rude." Jing Xiang’s mother noticed her daughter’s dejected face and curiously asked, "You’ve been calling a man? That’s rare. How did you meet? How far have things progressed?"

"Mom, stop asking. I’m going back to my room." Jing Xiang threw down the RC Unit and ran into her bedroom, pouncing on the bed. She reached up to flip over the photo frame on her headboard. Inside was a photo of Tang Zheng leaning against the wall, taking a rest.

The night was cold; passersby hurried back to their homes, and Tang Zheng felt like a lonely ghost, enveloped in endless desolation. He made a phone call to his mother, who told him to study hard, not to be reluctant in spending money, and to take care of himself. Tang Zheng felt the urge to cry.

Back in his hometown, his parents were unaware that Tang Zheng had left campus and was engaged in a life-and-death slaughter game.

Passing by a small supermarket, Tang Zheng was drawn in by the faint sound of a guitar coming from inside. It was "Hotel California," and he walked in without hesitation.

A tall girl sat next to the cash register, her head lowered, flipping through a yellowed book. Her black long straight hair fell like a waterfall from her temples, dense like a sweep of night, peaceful and enthralling.

Her posture was beautiful, serene like the rapeseed blossoms across the fields, and seemed fixed in the backdrop of night, becoming part of a landscape painting.

A speaker was placed beside her. The melodious tune flowed gently, and the girl looked up at Tang Zheng, then lowered her head, turned the page, and continued with her story.
