Chapter 771: Chapter 34: Pursuit and Killing
Among the four types of punishment troops that had appeared, the Nazi Zombies might have the weakest combat power, but their numbers were definitely the most. They were like an ant swarm, overwhelming with hordes of zombie soldiers, enough to exhaust all survivors.
The squad was on the run, with the zombie motorized troops in hot pursuit. The MG42 kept firing, creating dozens of red bullet barrages.
From a bird’s eye view, Tokyo without electricity was like a giant sleeping screen. The lights emitted by two squads of cars resembled paintbrushes, wantonly marking their paths.
Li Xinlan felt they were like fireflies, roaming aimlessly and ultimately drawing closer to the brink of death.
Five minutes later, the squad drove through four blocks and not only failed to shake off the zombie soldiers, but also encountered another large number of motorized troops.
Dantai Zongqi drove a Lamborghini at the forefront of the procession. As he turned a corner, he was nearly blinded by the several hundred headlights coming from the opposite direction. Their engines roared, almost tearing apart his eardrums.
"We can’t get through," Dantai roared, stomping on the brakes and wrenching the steering wheel.
The Lamborghini skidded on an angle and made a turn. The tires screeched against the road, sounding like a tormented woman. A burning smell began to permeate the air, but was soon overwhelmed by the smell of gunpowder.
The zombie soldiers opened fire. Gunshots erupted, and the streets were filled with the whizzing sounds of bullets striking objects, creating all sorts of chaotic noises.
The squad was moving too fast, Dantai hardly had time to notify those behind him. Lin Weiguo’s Land Rover had already drifted into the street, followed closely by Chu Baichuan’s white Toyota Land Cruiser. Its enormous headlights made it look like a ferocious beast.
Seeing Dantai’s Lamborghini changing direction, Lin Weiguo’s first reaction was to slam on the brakes and follow suit, he knew that cautious special agent would never act aimlessly.
"Be careful." Ai Yixin, who was sitting in the passenger seat, yelled to remind her husband.
Chu Baichuan, who had exchanged his skills for better driving, was a big confused since he was not yet used to it. He rushed past the two cars, placed his vehicle across the street, and then the bullets came shattering the glass.
"Get down." Chu Baichuan, worried about his wife, quickly started the car, turned the wheel, and began to flee the way they came.
The engine of Dantai’s sports car thundered as it darted around a corner like a migratory fish, moving ahead of the motorized troops pursuing Tang Zheng’s MPV, and entered another street.
The cars were moving too fast for anyone in the back to react in time. The vehicles of Qin Yan and Pang Meiqin had simultaneously slid into the corner, and immediately faced a rain of bullets, hitting the car shells with loud bangs, then they began to change direction.
For a moment, the entire street was filled with the loud noise of tires screeching against the road surface as the Conqueror’s fleet spun and adjusted their direction, headlights swaying wildly.
The newcomers in the carriages were having a rough time, being tossed around and thrown off balance. Those who suffered from motion sickness even started vomiting.
The leaders onboard Pang Meiqin’s vehicle were usually pampered and used to smooth driving. The abrupt maneuvers caused them to bang against the car walls and bump their heads. A bald leader vomited forcefully, expelling sour fluids and lunch from his mouth, splattering on some of the leaders sitting nearby.
A nauseating smell began to pervade the inside of the vehicle.
"Swallow it down. Anyone who vomits again will be thrown off this vehicle." warned Pang Meiqin furiously. The two leaders who felt nauseous and had food partway up their throats immediately closed their mouths.
Seeing their swollen cheeks, the leaders sitting next to them feared they would vomit and reached out their hands to cover their mouths.
People were thrown into chaos, resembling soldiers in the midst of a tumultuous end of the world.
The squad lasted for five minutes before a car finally crashed. Xu Liangmao, a miserable man, had once been so poor that he couldn’t afford a car, even though he had exchanged his ability for driving skills, he had nowhere to practice. Coupled with his mediocre aptitude, he was unable to cope with such an emergency.
As soon as Xu Liang Mao drove into the street, he saw several cars parking in front of him and bullets flying around. He was so terrified that he tromped on the gas. The Toyota car, like a beast that had guzzled gasoline, rushed across a green belt, burst out of the street, and crashed into a department store on the left.
With a loud bang, the Toyota came to a halt, airbags bursting out to cushion Xu Liang Mao. The two newcomers in the car also screamed in discomfort.
Tang Zheng’s MPV was initially at the very end of the procession. Seeing Dantai turning back and entering another corner, he immediately followed and managed to claw his way to the second position.
Chen Hong and Song Huiqiao, looking out of the window at the tragic scene on the right, were relieved that despite their pale faces, they felt safe being in the group leader’s vehicle.
The MPV was moving too fast. As it drove past a corner, Tang Zheng only saw Xu Biyun’s red Subaru Forester just making an abrupt stop. Pang Meiqin’s Lexus overtook Lin Weiguo and Chu Baichuan, skidding out in a beautiful drift.
As expected, the stewardess with beautiful legs had impressive driving skills. Her proficiency was comparable to a professional racer, leaving tire marks on the asphalt road that spoke volumes about her skill.
Xu Liangmao flung open the car door, wiggled out of the driver’s seat, and bolted onto the highway. He knew if he hesitated for a second, he would be left behind. As for the newbies in his car, that wasn’t his problem.
"Wait for us." Seeing Xu Liangmao leave, the two newbies hurried after him, their bodies still reeling from the car crash. The whistling of bullets through the air almost frightened the life out of them.
Screech – Lu Fan’s Honda came to a sudden halt on the highway, leaving four distinct tire marks on the asphalt, and then he called out to Xu Liangmao.
"Uncle, hurry up."
Yu Manli’s Toyota also stopped. She was more decisive than Little Lolita. She flung the car door open and shoved one of the newbies sitting in the passenger seat out of the car. After all, compared with him, Xu Liangmao was more worthwhile to win over.
Xu Liangmao was touched. This was the essence of teamwork. In an instant, he darted out, sprinting toward the car, leaving the two newbies trailing behind him.
The newbies were dumbfounded. If they were left behind, they would surely be torn apart by zombies. They ran for their lives, but one of them was unlucky. A stray bullet grazed his earlobe and he started bleeding profusely.
"What are you doing?" The male newbie that was thrown out of the car was both startled and furious. He shouted at Yu Manli and attempted to climb back up. Just as he tried, Xu Liangmao grabbed him by the shoulder and tossed him aside.
Those in the backseat wisely kept their mouth shut. At a time like this, they had no say.
Bang – Xu Liangmao got in the car, shut the door, and Yu Manli started the car. Lu Fan hesitated for a moment, but seeing the open seats in his car, he decided to wait for the two newbies to jump in before driving off.
Looking back, they watched as the unfortunate newbie gave chase for a while before being hit by a rain of bullets. His entire chest turned bloody red and he collapsed onto the ground. He reached out in a desperate attempt to grab onto the car and cry for help, but it was too late. A zombie soldier armed with a Mauser 98K firearm blew his head off. Following this, a motorcycle with a sidecar ran over him, and his depleted skull instantly turned into a pool of mush.
"Ha ha, well deserved! I feel like filming this." Lee Bo wore a full-faced grin. He looked at the trembling women huddled in the car and suddenly, he reached over and grabbed a woman’s arm and pulled her towards him.
"Ah! Ah! What are you doing?" The terrified woman screamed and pounded against Lee Bo’s chest.
"Scream again, and I’ll throw you out to feed the zombies." Lee Bo’s face twisted menacingly. He was actually scared too, but just hid it behind his laughter.
The woman fell silent and the others in the car didn’t dare to help her either.
"That’s better." Lee Bo grabbed her chin, kissed her lips, sucked on her tongue, and his hands weren’t idle either – fumbling with her chest.
The woman whimpered in pain but didn’t dare to fight back or complain. She could only sob quietly.
"Ha ha, this is a good housewife. Her looks are just average." Lee Bo pushed the woman away, feeling a surge of envy towards Tang Zheng. It seemed all the pretty women were in his car. "Wait, there’s also Gu Xueqi."
Lee Bo’s preferences leaned towards younger girls. He wasn’t interested in women in their twenties, instead he admired girls who were innocent and strong like Gu Xueqi.
"Keep the noise down. Old Wang has to drive," the square-faced leader spoke with an air of authority and a somber face, pondering their current situation. He disliked leaving decisions in the hands of others and was thinking about how he could regain control.
Dantai thought it was a bad day for the Trojan Squad. They had barely travelled three hundred meters into the street when he saw beams of light approaching from the opposite side. A thunderous roar of engines followed, along with the clanking noise of tracks rolling over the tarred road.
"A tank?" The street was only lit by moonlight, so Dantai’s vision was restricted. Just as he was trying to get a clear view, the other side already gave him an answer.
Boom—A flash of light flickered about a hundred meters away and began shelling. A round from the tank, stained black with gunpowder, screamed through the air and exploded on the street, creating a massive crater.
"Is the punishment unit planning to cause chaos in the whole of Ikebukuro?" Dantai was startled. Even he, as gutsy as he was, couldn’t possibly challenge a tank with a single Lamborghini. From the flash of the cannon and the scattering light, he knew that the entire street was firmly blockaded by tanks.
Dantai overthought things. The Silver Trojan certainly wouldn’t expose the entire punishment unit to the eyes of ordinary people, or even survivors. They were now the equivalent of phantoms — impossible to detect — otherwise, the Japanese Police would have acted long ago.
The bombardment continued, and the stones that exploded onto the car left deep dents. Through the rearview mirror, Dantai noticed a flood of lights surging into the street. He knew it was too late — the motorcycle unit had already blocked their retreat.
"We have to abandon the car." There was no alleyway to escape into from the main street, so Dantai made a resolute decision to stop the car. He opened the door and dashed towards the nearby train station.
The car was indeed the main target of the attack, with shells constantly exploding nearby, creating an astonishing scene. Seeing Dantai’s move, Tang Zheng also swiftly stopped his car.
"Quick, get out and run to the train station." Tang Zheng pulled out a travel bag full of supplies and a flashlight. He kept flashing it to indicate direction to the cars coming from behind.
