Chapter 770: Chapter 33 Major Downsizing
"This isn’t fair." Chen Hong immediately spoke up, while the other Conquerors didn’t bother with words and ran towards their cars at the fastest speed, starting them up.
Hearing the engine sound, Chen Hong reacted, rushing towards Tang Zheng’s MPV desperately, shouting for him to wait for her.
The newcomers were like ants doused with boiling water, chaotic, all running towards the few cars, not caring whether the Conquerors agreed or not, scrambling for the scarce seats.
Dongzi was smarter, from the beginning, he chose the Land Rover SUV that was the furthest away. As expected, no one fought with him. The other newcomers all crowded around the three nearest cars.
"There are too many people, that’s enough, go somewhere else." Pang Meiqin was sitting at the driver’s seat of the Lexus, seeing the officials pushing and shoving to get on, completely devoid of composure, she got furious and drove them away.
"I can arrange for your family members to work in government departments, let me get on." A certain leader cried out, making his offer.
"Bullshit, you bureaucrat who climbed up to deputy section level by selling your wife’s ass, what can you do?" Another leader, big-headed and big-eared, unreservedly slandered him loudly.
"You guys squeeze in a bit." The moment Du Kang’s foot stepped onto Qin Yan’s MPV, he was pulled down by Li Han behind him, knocking down a whole group of people. Li Han seizing the opportunity, got on and banged the car door closed.
"Hurry and go, they’re coming." Through the car window, Li Han saw the teleported Nazi zombies, they were armed to the teeth, each one looking murderous.
Click, the pulling back of the gun bolt resonated, the Nazi zombies lifted their Mauser Rifles, and began their shooting.
Boom, boom, a middle-aged leader standing next to Pang Meiqin’s car was hit, sprays of blood burst from his body. Because of his primary protective clothing, he didn’t die instantly, but slammed into the car wall with a twisted face, vomiting blood, wanting to cry for help, yet he no longer had the strength to speak. Shortly after, he slid to the ground, leaving a trail of blood behind.
"Start the car quickly." Seeing someone die, the newcomers sitting in the car grew uneasy, bellowing loudly for the Conquerors to start the car.
"Whoever’s shouting, get off." Pang Meiqin roared, ignoring the leaders who were still squeezing by the door, she stepped on the accelerator.
The tires were rubbing against the ground, frantically spinning, then with a sudden start, they shot out. Three middle-aged leaders were knocked down, among them, the leader who was scolded for selling his wife’s ass half of his body had already squeezed into the carriage, now with the sudden acceleration of the car, he was flung out, his round and rotund body rolled quite a distance on the ground.
A Giant Zombie appeared, his damaged vocal cords let out a coarse growl, holding Gatling guns in both hands, he aimed at the scattered running fleet.
Ratatat, the machine guns started to roar, firing a line of fiery red bullet barrage, a large amount of shell casings fell out of the ejection port, hitting the ground and making a dense metallic sound.
The leader who had rolled out had only just dizzily got up, when his head was blown up by the bullets. His whole upper body was shot into minced meat, with pieces of flesh and blood splattering.
A Zombie Soldier stepped over it with large strides, Pha ji, his military boots stomped and crushed his eyeball that had flown out.
A pack of Zombie Dogs were teleported in, dripping saliva, they furiously barked at the survivors, and pounced out.
"Don’t kill us." The two remaining leaders who didn’t make it onto the vehicles were so scared they turned pale, they ran helplessly, but they were chased and brought down by the Zombie Dogs within twenty meters.
Amid the barks, the Zombie Dogs’ sharp teeth tore through the basic protective clothing, biting off the leaders’ flesh and eating them.
The leader screamed, flailing his arms around, but it was useless. In a moment, his body was left skinned, with no piece of flesh intact.
Two zombies managed to seize his hand and dragged him away for them to enjoy alone, the others weren’t satisfied and gave chase. Within less than a minute, they chewed him up into pieces.
The other leader also suffered a similar fate, being caught by a Zombie dog, who bit his thigh.
"Get off, you monsters." The leader, with his face full of terror, roared loudly. Soon after a skinless Licker appeared, pounced on him, bit his neck, and then tore off a large piece of flesh, along with part of his trachea.
The leader’s body convulsed, a large amount of blood gushed from the ruptured throat, soaking the front of his clothes.
Sizzle, the Licker’s two-meter-long sharp tongue shot out, piercing his eye sockets, running through his entire brain.
Thump, the leader’s body fell, and a pack of Zombie Dogs immediately swarmed onto it, feasting.
The gangster’s car started. The girls from the student union were physically weak, unable to squeeze onto the Conquerors’ vehicles, they had no choice but to seek help from them, thankfully, they weren’t rejected.
All the cars drove off, the Nazi Zombies wielding MG42s unloaded their bullets in fury, shattering the window of Qin Yan’s vehicle, and hard shards of glass rushed into the car. This time, Li Han who had managed to squeeze in first, served as a meat shield- glass shards directly embedded into his face.
"Ah, my eyes." Li Han screamed, reached out to cover his left eye, only to bump into the glass that had pierced his eyeball, causing more pain.
The other’s were also cut by the glass, leaving the entire carriage in shambles.
The punishing forces weren’t that easy to shake off, more than 30 World War II era R75 sidecar motorcycles teleported in. Nazi Soldiers sat on them, with MG42 machine guns set on the sidecars, the yellow bullet chains reflecting the moonlight, exuding an overwhelming kill aura.
Boom, boom, the rumble of the 26 horsepower twin-cylinder engine resonated, the motorcycle troops charged onto the highway, starting to chase after Tang Zheng and the others.
Not all the newcomers had managed to get on a vehicle, five unlucky guys from the student union and a woman teacher were left behind, with nobody showing them pity.
As they sprinted, the two unlucky souls lamented their good-naturedness, feeling they should’ve been ruthless during the scramble for the car and thrown everyone else off. What worth were these so-called classmates? Aside from those with close ties, the rest merely knew their names more than a complete stranger would.
Dozens of zombie soldiers, armed with Mauser 98K rifles, took aim at them.
With a bang, a spinning bullet crashed into a man, blowing off half of his head. His blood splashed out in a spray, and his body, due to inertia, staggered forward a few steps before collapsing.
The second unlucky soul was a female teacher. Her left leg was shot off by the thundering roar of a machine gun.
"Help me, Mo Li," the teacher screamed her student’s name, her voice desperate and worn.
Mo Li had been well-liked by the teacher and felt a conscientious student-teacher bond. She instinctively halted, intending to help her.
"It’s no use, you won’t make it yourself," cried a man who had been secretly in love with Mo Li, grabbing her hand. Even at this critical moment, he wished to be with her.
Mo Li hesitated, but the man ran with her as the other two sprinted away without any hesitation.
Bang bang, bullets surged forward, striking Mo Li’s chest. Her legs buckled, and she fell.
"Leave me... leave..." Mo Li tried to squeeze out these words, but blood spurted from her mouth.
The man, however, did not run; he knelt down and hoisted her onto his back.
"We will make it out," he said. Despite Mo Li already being married, he couldn’t forget her.
"You fool, why...why didn’t you...get married?" As Mo Li voiced the question that had nagged at her heart, a regretful smile drifted onto her face. She pressed her head against his and was gone.
"I was waiting for you..." Feeling her warm blood on his neck and head, the man’s voice choked with tears. He had been shy and insecure, so he never confessed his feelings. Mo Li got married, and now, when he finally confessed, she couldn’t hear him.
Rat-tat-tat, the Licker, a giant zombie, took over the area amidst the whizzing sound of bullets, causing nearby buildings to crumble and stones to splatter. Soon, its line of fire swallowed Mo Li.
Bullets pierced through Mo Li and hit the man, puncturing his spine.
The man fell to the ground, giving up on survival as he clung to Mo Li’s hand in an attempt to kiss the back of her hand.
Amid the sound of military boots hitting the concrete, a zombie soldier charged forward, aiming his Mauser rifle at the man’s head.
The man managed to kiss Mo Li’s hand just as a gunshot echoed. His skull was blown off, but a smile remained on the corner of his mouth, a sweet scent seemed to overshadow the strong stench of gore and gunpowder in the air.
Several Lickers and a horde of Nazi zombies surged forward to chase the two runners; others remained behind to clear the battlefield. The wounded teacher was dragged in front of a lieutenant.
"Don’t kill me." The forty-something-year-old pleaded with tears streaming down her face as the handgun touched her forehead.
Boom, the lieutenant paid no heed to her pleas as he pulled the trigger, blowing her head to bits. The zombie soldiers swiftly swooped in to tear, chew, and feed on her remains.
"We’ve lost ten newbies." Seeing the bloody scene unfold through the rear-view mirror, Tang Zheng’s face was as dark as ink. Since entering the Trojan Room, this was the battle with the most casualties, and worst still, they had not inflicted any damage on the Nazi zombies.
"And two more have taken off." Seeing her former classmates dying horribly, Song Huiqiao felt a chill deep inside her; it felt as though her blood had turned to ice.
"Once targeted by a Licker, there’s absolutely no hope," said Chen Hong, breathing deeply. Looking at Tang Zheng’s back gave her a sense of security.
Indeed, the two newbies hadn’t lasted three minutes before they were hunted down by the Licker and knocked to the ground.
They tried to fight back, but they were unarmed and without any form of resistance other than futile struggles.
Plop. The Licker’s sharp protrusion stabbed into their mouths, piercing their brains, and began sucking out their brain pulp. All they felt was an incredibly slimy, nauseating appendage in their mouths. After a few body contortions, the Licker tore their chests open.
Without any weapons, they were unable to counterattack. Chu Baichuan was busy driving and had no time to launch an attack. Ruan Feifei extended her hand out of the window, releasing electricity. However, due to the uncomfortable position, she could not aim properly. The misaimed electrical current, instead, provoked revengeful attacks from the Nazi zombies.
A dozen MG42 machine guns fired at her, preventing her from fighting back.
"Are we just going to keep running? We can’t hold out for thirty minutes," said Gu Xueqi, who was pessimistic about their chance of survival. The preparations had been too hasty.
"Tang Zheng will find a way." As she focused on driving, Qin Yan viewed the battlefield through the rear-view mirror.
"Damn, that’s too horrible. So many people died at once," said Li Bo, hiding in the car. He was excited, "Look at those zombies. Dressed in German military uniforms, they look really cool."
"You won’t find it ’cool’ once a bullet lands on your head," the gang leader replied gruffly. However, they had become accustomed to this nomadic lifestyle and managed to remain calm.
