Chapter 772: Chapter 35 Collision on the Fire Line

Although the members of the Trojan Squad didn’t know what was happening, the sound of bombardment alerted them of trouble. Seeing Tang Zheng stopping the car, they immediately did the same.

They trusted Tang Zheng even more than they trusted themselves. Not to mention, Dantai was the first one to run up the stairs.

The abrupt screech of brakes echoed throughout, mixed with gunshots, it felt as if war had descended. Everywhere was in chaos, newcomers panting heavily, their chests heaving as if they were being torn apart. They followed behind in disarray, falling over, and yet no one came to help. They could only struggle on their own.

The Conquerors moved swiftly, taking just a few seconds to reach Tang Zheng from behind. Without any doubt, they followed his actions.

"Zombies." Dantai’s loud warning came through before Tang Zheng stormed into the lobby, but it was too late.

Boom, boom, the intense gunfire started immediately. Bullets flew by, shattering the glass doors at the front of the lobby, making them break into pieces.

The Trojan Squad immediately lowered themselves on the stairs.

"Xin Lan, Ruan Fei Fei, you two follow me." Tang Zheng pulled up the hood of his Tyrannosaurus Protective Clothing, shielding his head, then charged into the lobby, releasing the Furious Queen simultaneously.

The three elegant musketeers dressed in Baroque-style clothing materialized seemingly out of thin air. Holding their firearms, they followed behind him. The rhythmic sound of their over-knee boots hitting the ground echoed around.

As bullets continued to fly in, the musketeers dodged with ease and quickly counterattacked. The muzzles of their guns emitted a burst of firelight, and a Zombie Soldier fell in the lobby for each shot they took.

The newcomers were dumbfounded. Li Bo was envious once again. These three charming yet deadly musketeers must be Tang Zheng’s maids.

"Why does he always get the good ones?" Li Bo muttered, clenching his fist and slamming it on the ground.

As Tang Zheng rushed into the lobby, he saw Dantai hiding behind a large statue. On the opposite side, there were enough soldiers for a battalion. Zombies with dirty helmets holding MG42 machine guns, continuously firing and exerting firepower pressure. They had just been teleported here and hadn’t established a defense line yet, but they were an overwhelming force for the survivors without weapons.

"Sophie, destroy the fire-fighting system." Both Tang Zheng and Dantai shouted at the same time. As long as there was enough fresh water, Li Xinlan could wipe out these Nazi Zombies.

Ruan Feifei extended her right hand, and blue electric arcs gathered at her fingertips, then exploded into a bolt of blue and white lightning that shot out.

A dozen Zombie Soldiers were instantly burnt to a crisp, collapsing to the ground.

Ruan Feifei frowned. These Zombie Soldiers had no life, so in order to kill them, the voltage had to be amplified, which was more than ten times harder than killing a human being. However, this was using up her life energy extremely quickly.

"My mental impact is ineffective again, I’m so frustrated." Dantai put on a bitter smile at the corner of his mouth. He felt somewhat powerless in the face of this type of monster.

Sophie opened fire towards the ceiling and damaged the temperature sensor in the sprinkler head after two shots, triggering the alarm valve. The automatic fire extinguishing system activated, and the sprinkler heads started to work. It was like a downpour, a large amount of fresh water sprinkling over the lobby.

In about ten seconds, the lobby was filled with water mist and a layer of water accumulated on the marble floor.

Li Xinlan unleashed Ice Age. A white icy line spread rapidly from her feet and reached the front of the Nazi Zombies’ line in a blink of an eye. Concurrently, in the crackling sound of freezing, a large ice layer appeared and rapidly extended. Suddenly, hundreds of icicles shot out, piercing through the Zombie Soldiers.

It was as if an icy rose had suddenly blossomed in the lobby, with close to a hundred soldiers impaled to death. Their bodies, with their dark red, viscous blood flowing along the icicles, dropping onto the floor.

The smell of blood and stench began to pervade, this scene looked like a tragic yet beautiful Impressionist painting.

A dozen or so soldiers whose heads were not pierced by the icicles hung there, struggling to move and growling from their throats. They stared at the survivors who had broken into the lobby with their broken eyes.

Tang Zheng sprinted forward, stomping on the head of a zombie that had lost its helmet. With a squelch, he smashed its head. The shriveled brain pulp and blood splattered out, speckling the white icy layer, making it an appalling sight.

Qin Yan and Lin Weiguo didn’t wait outside for long before they quickly ran into the lobby. After inspecting the corpses and the environment, they immediately picked up the weapons as quickly as they could.

"Old Lin, catch this." Tang Zheng picked up an MG42 along with its ammo box and threw it to the old soldier. Dantai picked up a Mauser Rifle, pulled back the bolt to check the number of bullets, then clicked it back in. He then looted ammunition pouches from the body of a Zombie Soldier.

Tang Zheng flipped a Zombie Soldier, pulling off its backpack, and stuffed its chest ammunition pouch and an M24 stick grenade into it.

"Tang Zheng, Dantai, Nazi Zombies are catching up. I’ll help you collect supplies, quickly set up defenses." Ai Yixin, with her belly round in late pregnancy, ran over to the bodies of the zombies to collect supplies. She wanted to help and felt that Tang Zheng shouldn’t waste his combat prowess on these trivial matters.

Chu Baichuan looked at his sweating wife and wanted to hold her.

"Go fight." Ai Yixin grabbed a Mauser Rifle and stuffed it into Chu Baichuan’s arms, pushing him out.

"Stay safe." Seeing the determination in his wife’s eyes, Chu Baichuan had no hesitation and turned to run towards the main entrance. Several years of marital relationship made him understand that persuasion was useless. The best way was to quickly kill all the zombies.

The novices, only intent on escaping, are astonished by the scene before them, swiftly followed by shame. However, these emotional fluctuations are fleeting. The moment they draw enemy fire from behind, they forget it all, with their minds filled only by the thought of fleeing.

"I’ll help out," Song Huiqiao volunteers, suppressing her disgust at the nauseating stench wafting from the corpses as she starts to remove the gear from their bodies. She’s no fool. Seeing the expectant mother, a wife among the Conquerors, trying hard to prove her worth, Song Huiqiao realizes that continued flight from the scene would guarantee her demise.

As Tang Zheng runs to the door, he sees R-75 heavy motorcycles gathering below. Zombie Soldiers hop off them and boldly launch into a charge.

Dakka dakka dakka. An MG42 roars in Lin Weiguo’s hands, shooting out a tongue of fire, blasting holes through the zombies, shredding their bodies apart.

Tang Zheng half-crouches by the door, gunstock against his shoulder, his sights aligned as he takes aim at a Zombie Soldier with a mouth full of yellow teeth. He pulls the trigger.

Bang. The bullet pierces the soldier’s helmet, detonating its head. The zombie tumbles down, dead.

Tang Zheng works the bolt, chambering a round before taking aim and firing again. Within moments, his magazine is empty, spent shell casings hot to the touch as they are ejected and fall into the water, producing a hissing mist.

Having no time to reload amidst the Zombie Soldiers’ onslaught, Tang Zheng pulls out an M24 grenade, unscrews the cap, pulls the cord, and white smoke starts to billow out.

Tang Zheng throws the grenade like a baseball, and it hits a Zombie Soldier straight in the face. Then, with a boom, it explodes, throwing another half dozen zombies around him flying.

Bai Guo runs towards Lin Weiguo, a steel helmet on her head and her arms holding a ton of ammunition. She’s determined to be his assistant gunner.

"You wear it, don’t give it to me." Seeing Bai Guo actually remove her helmet and place it on his head, Lin Weiguo grumbles. The innocent Bai Guo resembled a niece to the old soldier, and he didn’t want any mishap befalling her.

"I’ll be okay." Bai Guo asserts stubbornly. Upon noticing the leftover ammunition, she picks up a Mauser 98K rifle and starts firing at the Zombie Soldiers, doing her part.

Dongzi, after some hesitation, finally retrieves a gun and steps up towards the entrance to help with the defense.

"Give it to me, you won’t even know how to use it". Having lost one eye in the fight, Li Han eyes an MG42 greedily. The weapon’s power and ferocity would surely lessen the danger he is in. However, he is a second too late as Li Hongda snatches it first.

"Bullshit, how do you know I can’t use it?" Li Hongda clings tightly to the firearm, refusing to let go. The icy touch of the blood-stained metal gives him a sense of security.

"Hand it over, you." Li Han could care less if this person was a billionaire or not, and he throws a punch aimed straight at Li Hongda’s eyes.

Li Hongda, pushing fifty and not anywhere near as robust as Li Han, tries to dodge the blow but still gets hit in the nose. Blood spurts out instantly.

"Refuse a reward, and you must endure the punishment." Li Han snatches the MG42 from Li Hongda with a swift tug. He then follows up with a hard kick to Li Hongda’s stomach, watching as he sprawls across the floor.

Just as Li Han successfully grabs the gun and is about to familiarize himself with its operation, the square-faced mob boss steps next to him. Without saying a word, a clenched fist rockets towards Li Han’s cheek.

Under that heavy blow, dizziness rushes to his head and Li Han slumps to the floor, watching helplessly as his weapon is taken.

The square-faced boss couldn’t possibly let such a powerful weapon go unused. Li Bo, standing beside him with a Mauser rifle, tosses a scornful glance at Li Han before casually spitting on his face.

The other novices are scrambling for guns and grenades, oblivious to the fact that they have no idea how to use these weapons.

Bang, bang. Qin Yan raises her gun’s muzzle and fire a round each at the bald leader and a man in a suit named Liu Qian, who are fighting over an MP34 submachine gun.

The bullets land near them with a ping, scaring them stiff.

"Anyone causing chaos, I’ll kill them." Qin Yan knows it’s her responsibility to maintain team stability, as Tang Zheng and Dantai are engaged in heavy fighting.

Yu Manli really wants to do all these, but she also doesn’t want to make enemies, even if it’s against the novices. She believes that, if used properly, these rookies can bring some value to the table.

The novices, intimidated by the killing intent oozing from Qin Yan, don’t dare to rebel. They quickly pick up a nearby gun. However, aside from Gu Xueqi, everyone else hides in the lobby, too afraid to engage in combat. Bullets are continuously being fired into the entrance, and they could be hit at any moment. They simply cannot handle this kind of pressure.

Gu Xueqi, with her backpack and a Mauser 98K rifle in hand, and another backpack secured to her left hand, rushes over to Tang Zheng’s side. She drops on all fours, extends her gun’s muzzle, and begins her assault on the zombies.

The school beauty knows that if she wants to survive, she must fight tooth and nail. She intends to prove herself and, hopefully, secure a Seed. However, she isn’t fighting blindly. She knows that standing by Tang Zheng guarantees a degree of safety.

Indeed, because of Gu Xueqi’s actions, Tang Zheng’s regard for her increases a notch. This girl, barely a year or two younger than Tang Zheng, shows him she’s brave.

"From now on, anyone who kills ten Zombie Soldiers will be awarded one Seed." Tang Zheng announces a bounty, intending to force these useless novices into combat. "If you don’t fight or train, you will undoubtedly meet your end sooner or later. (Story is to be continued. If you like this work, you’re welcome to vote for it at qidian.com.
