Chapter 705: Chapter 48: The Female Musketeer Strikes
Tang Zheng ignored Marilyn, raising his right arm to attack the squad of helicopters.
The Roaring Cannon shot out a scorching energy beam, destroying and vaporizing four helicopters again. Two neighboring ones quickly dodged, but they were still grazed, hence they caught fire, billowing black smoke as they crashed to the ground.
"Give me a gun!" Marilyn persisted, "I want to fight."
Tang Zheng took out a Thunderstorm rifle and threw it to Marilyn, who caught it and swung her hand as if to smash it into his face.
"I don’t want this cheap stuff, I want that." Marilyn pointed at the Gauss sniper rifle, pouting unhappily.
"An excellent gunman can kill enemies even with rubbish weapons!" Tang Zheng retorted, expressing his utter helplessness, and couldn’t help but complain, "Before, Sophie and Alizeh never wanted to switch weapons. They clung to that junky firearm, why the change of mind now? "
"The Thunderstorm is trash!" Alizeh answered matter-of-factly, "Only S-grade firearms or above are worthy of our Musketeer status. So, Master, you need to strive to earn points and exchange them for premium equipment for us."
"Not just firearms, we can wear protective clothing too." Marilyn was very proud, but obviously more talkative than the other two, "Of course, if you have a special fetish, like nurse uniforms or bunny girl outfits, we can satisfy you."
Marilyn leaned forward, pressing against Tang Zheng’s back, completely ignoring the helicopters in the sky.
"Marilyn, watch your attitude." Sophie warned Marilyn while attacking and still managing to produce significant results.
Both female Musketeers knelt on one knee on the roof of the vehicle, the butt of their guns against their shoulders. They zeroed in on the helicopters, pulled the trigger, and after shooting out an energy beam, they skillfully worked the bolt. Clang, a hot cartridge was ejected, hitting the armor with a clear metallic sound. Afterwards, the bullet was loaded, and they fired again.
Countless energy beams as thick as wrists, tearing through the air with a crackling sound, incessantly crisscrossed the sky. Each shot completely penetrated a helicopter, blowing them apart, chasing the ground like burning meteors.
It took less than ten seconds for the helicopters to fly over five hundred meters, but they left behind the wreckage of more than twenty helicopters. In terms of shooting speed and power, the Gauss sniper rifle, which uses energy cartridges, surpasses the Stinger Missile by more than a dozen times. Coupled with the superb shooting technique of the two female Musketeers, the Queen’s helicopter squadron was completely suppressed.
However, taking advantage of their mobility, the armed helicopter squad finally got within three hundred meters. Their machine guns started to unleash havoc. They were fortunate that all their ammo clips were shot empty earlier, otherwise a carpet-bombing at this moment would have been disastrous for the armored car fleet. Even so, the situation was grim for the resistance.
Large caliber bullets poured out of the muzzle of the guns, hitting the ground and splashing up large mud pillars. Combined with the high rate of fire, an armored car that was being targeted was immediately rattled with gunfire. A few seconds later, the armor was riddled with bullet holes. The soldiers on board were extremely unlucky. The bullets that penetrated the armor ricocheted irregularly, hitting them and ripping through their bodies, causing horrific wounds.
The various screams were endless. Just a few breaths later, the inside of the armored vehicle was in chaos, filled with severed limbs and chunks of viscera, with hot blood splattering every corner. The smell of blood was pungent.
The group leader grabbed the communicator and called for help, but it was completely drowned out by the screams of the soldiers behind him.
Standing on the roof of the vehicle, Tang Zheng saw the attacked armored vehicle explode into a fireball and fly into the sky.
As the distance closed, the helicopters had less space to dodge. The two female Musketeers achieved flawless accuracy, downing a helicopter with each shot. Marilyn also stopped pestering Tang Zheng, and began to attack with the Thunderstorm rifle. Otherwise, if she waited any longer, she might not get any credit at all.
Tang Zheng steadied himself, took a horse-riding stance, took out two Gatling 6-Barrel Machine Guns, aimed diagonally at the sky, and as he connected the electric current, a large number of bullets were expelled towards the helicopter squad with a sizzling sound.
Due to incomplete combustion of gunpowder, the tail end of the bullets had faint dark red flames so everyone could see twelve red tracks of fire continuously assaulting the helicopter squad.
Countless shells jumped out of the ejection port and fell down, laying a carpet on the ground as the command vehicle moved.
A helicopter’s rotary wing couldn’t withstand this continuous assault and was shot off, causing it to plummet and explode!
Lu Fan grabbed the vehicle-mounted machine gun, raised the elevation angle to its highest, pulled the trigger, and also began to spray bullets. Dantai aimed leisurely at the helicopters, too lazy to even pull the trigger.
"What do we need to do? You alone could wipe out an armed helicopter squadron." Seeing the helicopters continuously falling, Dantai exhaled, "I now feel superfluous."
"I also feel superfluous, but why compare? Isn’t it good to have a powerful group leader? As long as we can survive." Lu Fan was enjoying himself but also somewhat puzzled.
"Yes!" Dantai let out a bitter smile. From a young age, he had been subject to elite education that taught him to strive to be the best in everything and go for first place. So, after entering the Trojan World and seeing Tang Zheng consistently top him in everything, Dantai felt somewhat out of sorts.
"Why sweat the small stuff? The team would feel a great loss without you." Tang Zheng spoke sincerely. Dantai was brave and willing to fight, intelligent, and had excellent decision-making abilities on the spot. He was undoubtedly the second-in-command of the team, even superior to Lin Weiguo. Unfortunately, being an old soldier often relegated him to being both a meat shield and a scavenger, doing all the menial tasks.
"Uncle Dantai is great. He always manages to be in sync with uncle Tang and has a meticulous mind. You guys make the best partners so don’t belittle yourself." Lu Fan nodded, comforting Dantai Zongqi. Even Tang Zheng made mistakes, but having Dantai reduces these errors to a minimum, ensuring nothing catastrophic happens.
"Thank you!" Dantai was slightly touched. It seemed at least someone recognized his abilities. Just as he was about to show gratitude, he heard the latter part of Lu Fan’s sentence and almost choked on his own blood in frustration.
"But isn’t your mental impact ability kind of trashy?" Lu Fan teased Dantai with a twinkle in his eyes.
In less than a minute, Tang Zheng had exhausted the 20,000 bullets in his ammunition box. The sky was almost devoid of helicopters, except for a dozen or so, most of them damaged and constantly being shot down by Sophie and Alizeh.
"I can do it too." Marilyn pouted disapprovingly at not getting a chance to show off her abilities. "Do you guys think I’m just good for warming the bed? That’s discrimination! Alizeh, give me the rifle!"
"Warming the bed?" Dantai gave Tang Zheng a peculiar look. This summoned hero really was versatile – not only good at combating but also at satisfying physiological needs. "Wait, Tang Zheng, your ability only lasts for five minutes, right? Can that satisfy in bed? Surely you’re not a quickshot?"
"I haven’t done anything!" Tang Zheng defended himself. He was innocently suffering for something he didn’t even know about.
Disbelieving, Dantai shot Tang Zheng a skeptical look before heading towards the carriage. The musketeer could handle the remaining helicopters with ease.
"We don’t offer any companionship services!" Sophie coldly retorted. "Marilyn’s personal actions have nothing to do with us musketeers."
"Pfft, playing prissy. Master, you can command them to serve you. If you don’t like forcing, then just summon more musketeers!" Marilyn, wielding the Thunderstorm rifle, shot a round and then promptly turned to Tang Zheng and asked, "Do you have red wine? I’m thirsty."
"Marilyn, watch your conduct, you’re bringing disgrace to the musketeers!" Sophie, who had a very strict lifestyle, disapproved of Marilyn’s wild ways.
Marilyn shrugged and closed her mouth.
"Ammo clip!" Words between Sophie and Tang Zheng were scarce, totaling no more than ten sentences. It was quite uninteresting.
Tang Zheng ceased to fire and handed over two ammo clips. Three seconds later, four beams of energy cut through the sky, annihilating the remaining helicopters.
The spectacle was caught on the surveillance screen, and the soldiers immediately cheered. A sense of surviving disaster permeated above the entire fleet.
The time limit of the ability elapsed, and the three musketeers began to fade away. Unlike the aloof Sophie and Alizeh, Marilyn suddenly embraced Tang Zheng, pressing a kiss to his lips and even sneakily slipping her tongue in.
"Next time, make sure to prepare my weapons."
"Tang Zheng, your skill is awesome! By the way, how many soft girl musketeer heroes are you allowed to summon? Is there a limit?" Chu Baichuan gave a thumbs up and was immediately given a stern twist by Ai Yixin.
"Not sure." Tang Zheng opened the map to confirm their location, then grabbed the captain by the collar and slapped him awake to inquire about the command post’s details.
The armored car fleet, now down to fourteen vehicles, raced on. In five minutes, they would be out of the war zone, and the troops would come to take over.
"Command vehicle, this is 01, we have spotted an armored vehicle about a hundred meters to the west, stay alert!" The commander of 01 reported his discovery to the command vehicle.
"We’re the targets you’re supposed to protect; we request protection!"
Zhuo Lie’s voice blared from the loudspeaker. Though distorted, Tang Zheng and Dantai recognized it. They exchanged glances and nodded.
"Permit entry into the fleet!" Dantai, clearing his throat, replied. After a moment, he added, "Move to the third position from the end of the fleet. We’ll protect you."
The helicopter squad had failed to eliminate Tang Lu, nor had they managed to stall for time. No matter, the transport plane carrying the queen’s clone was en route!
