Chapter 1558 - 20 Cruel Death
Chapter 1558: Chapter 20 Cruel Death
"Shoot!" Dong Zixuan lacks a clear understanding of her status, thankfully Tang Zheng and Dantai are easy to talk to. If it were a team ruled by a single voice, they would definitely have taught the policewoman a lesson.
Bullets whizzed through the air, forming a barrage that almost drowned Long Street, but the effect was minuscule.
The completely dark Buddha Statues, with legs like they had springs installed, leaped to dodge the bullets, then bounced off the surrounding buildings like elastic balls, rapidly propelling forward at an incredible speed.
Dark clouds gathered in the sky, obscuring the stars and bright moon, casting large shadows, allowing the Buddha Statues to blend into the darkness, becoming even harder to discern, with only a pair of golden eyes that seemed to originate from Hell, radiating endless murderous intent.
Screaming, panting, and the noisy sounds of running, combined with the flickering street lights due to the damaged power system, created a nightmarish horror scene.
The cries and wails of the newbies added a footnote of death to this slaughter!
"Don’t panic, Xin Lan, help me protect Sister Xiu Ru," Tang Zheng handed An Xiuru to Mrs. Li, took a few steps forward, and charged to the front of the team, furiously shooting at the Buddha Statues.
The Empress Queen roared, spraying out Energy Spheres at a rapid fire rate, none of Tang Zheng’s attacks missed, blowing the Buddha Statues into pieces in mid-air, their fragmented stones clattering on the ground.
Pang Meiqin’s Ferocious Birds also showed their strength, firing a blue and white plasma that like a military knife, sliced along Long Street, cutting several Buddha Statues in half. Despite strong vitality, they attempted to crawl closer.
After the plasma vanished, remnants of blue Electric Arcs still lingered in the air.
"Get in the car, evacuate from here!" Dantai noticed that the Buddha Statues’ resistance against attacks was strong; the female anchor’s lightning shots had almost no effect on them.
Chu Baichuan hit a Buddha Statue with a Hand Grenade, and the attached explosion ability shattered it to pieces.
"Is that all they have? Don’t be nervous!" Chu Baichuan whistled to comfort his wife.
Tao Ran wanted to share the burden and released a Time-space Blackfish, which bit off a Buddha Statue’s head in one bite.
"No using abilities!" Before even seeing the BOSS, they were already wasting Life Energy; it was unwise. Tang Zheng noticed that Jiang Xiuming and Dong Zixuan’s shooting skills were far too poor compared to their levels, evidently, they had neglected practice after gaining abilities.
Lu Fan released a bus and the newbies crowded onto it, causing shoving and pushing again.
"One by one, whoever pushes will die!" Dantai stood by the carriage door to maintain order and kicked a man over.
Several Buddha Statues noticed their enemies escaping, leaping high over Tang Zheng’s head, attempting to destroy the bus, but before they could land, they were blasted into a cloud of stone powder.
With weak firepower, the Buddha Statues got close, but Tang Zheng did not dodge or evade; he stepped forward and met the charging Buddha Statue with a punch.
Bang, the upper half of the Buddha Statue was obliterated, and the lower half took a few more steps before falling.
The Gravity Abyss was already unfolding, slowing down the Buddha Statues’ charge, the Conquerors took the opportunity to slaughter these creatures.
"If they’re not worth a few points, I’ll be at a huge loss." Yu Deye, always a Shooting series, lashed out with vigorous group attacks and actively engaged several monsters to earn Points.
Qin Yan pierced a Monster’s chest with her Magic Gun and then slammed it onto the ground.
"These monsters have weak combat power, roughly equivalent to First stage Conquerors," the Old Soldier twisted off the head of a Buddha Statue, urging everyone, "Get on the bus, I’ll cover the rear."
"There are about twenty more, let’s just kill them all," Yu Deye was about to open fire but was stopped by Jiang Xiuming.
"Leave them be, if we kill them all, new ones might appear," Jiang Xiuming ran towards the bus, "Anyway, they’re not much of a threat."
Jiang Xiuming’s guess seemed reasonable, but then, trouble came; the eyes of the Buddha Statues suddenly lit up, emitting Golden Light Beams.
The Conquerors were thrown into disarray, thankfully wearing S-class protective clothing, they withstood the attack, but a few newbies were not so lucky. Golden beams pierced the bus and their bodies, leaving fist-sized Blood holes, their survival was hopeless.
"How outrageous!" the Old Soldier roared in anger, unleashing his full power, killing off these Buddha Statues.
The Night Wind brought a thick scent of Blood, scratching everyone’s faces.
A drunk driver parked his car nearby, opened the door to vomit, and his foot landed on a Corpse; looking down, he was frightened and dumbfounded.
Pang Meiqin drove the bus forward over forty meters and was just about to make a left turn when the ground suddenly split open, and a giant stone column shot up to the sky.
The Beautiful Leg Stewardess sharply turned the Steering Wheel, but it was too close; the right wall of the car scraped against the column, emitting a piercing noise, shattering Glass.
The newbies screamed and hunched over, instinctively bending down to protect their heads.
Driving the following bus was Shen Qingshuang. Amid the chaos of flying glass and stones hitting the Windshield, she didn’t stop but instead stepped hard on the gas, trying to charge out with full force.
"Please don’t let it happen!" Shen Qingshuang prayed, the column likely to burst out a Buddha Statue, judging from its thickness, probably a BOSS-level one.
Bang, just as Pang Meiqin was about to get past the pillar, it exploded, and the stone fragments hit the car like cannon shells, leaving dents everywhere.
Pang Meiqin’s bus swung into an S-shape from the impact, and Shen Qingshuang’s vehicle nearly flipped on its side. Fortunately, his driving skills were passable, and he recovered his balance.
"Stay alert for the monster’s location!" Shen Qingshuang’s order was ignored amid the chaos inside the carriage; the stone chunks and glass shards flew in, injuring many people.
"Guofeng, are you alright?" The woman who had a one-night stand with Li had no smarts under the pressure of impending death and sought a new "thigh" to cling to instead of acting coquettish and weak. She expressed concern for Sun Guofeng.
"I’m fine!" Sun Guofeng, covering his scraped head, looked up only to see the woman’s face petrified, staring outside. Instinctively, he turned his head and saw a stone Buddhist statue, clinging to the side of the bus like a spider.
The stoic Buddhist statue suddenly revealed a ferocious smile, displaying its sharply satisfied fangs.
"Run!" Sun Guofeng pushed the woman away, trying to distance himself from the statue. Nearby newbies did the same, screaming for help.
The old soldier and Dong Zixuan on this bus, accompanying Shen Qingshuang, intended to protect the newbies. They tried to fire their weapons, but the panicked new recruits scattered everywhere, blocking their line of fire.
Tang Zheng’s team opened fire, but due to the angle, almost none of the shots hit their mark, nearly damaging the bus. Even a couple of hits from Magnetic Storm Balls on the statue failed to leave a wound.
"Kill it quickly!" Shen Qingshuang glanced at the rearview mirror, horrified, twisted the steering wheel, and ran an S-shape to try to shake it off.
Without warning, the eyes of the Buddha statue emitted two golden beams of light as thick as arms, horizontally piercing the bus.
Sun Guofeng felt a mass of warm, wet flesh splashing onto him, then saw the woman next to him slump to the ground, her upper half obliterated, revealing a piled mass of crimson organs in her severed chest cavity.
Petrified, Sun Guofeng’s legs gave out, and he sat on the ground, an action that paradoxically saved him.
After piercing the bus, the Buddha statue’s beams entered a shop across the street without dissipating. As the statue turned its head, the beams sliced through the bus like a beam saber.
"Get down!" The old soldier pushed Dong Zixuan’s head down to the ground, while Shen Qingshuang bent down as well, temporarily abandoning driving the vehicle.
Like a dinner knife through cream, the golden beams effortlessly bisected the bus. The ill-fated newbies who had not returned to their senses were cut in half at the waist.
The new recruits were still running, but as they felt a sting, they fell to the ground, only to see parts of their bodies left behind.
The front half of the carriage was covered with a thick layer of blood, with more than thirty mangled bodies tangled together.
The smell of blood mixed with the stench of vomit was extremely pungent.
The Buddha statue turned its gaze towards Pang Meiqin’s bus; golden beams were fired indiscriminately like arrows.
Multiple holes were immediately punched through the body of the bus as Tang Zheng dove to the rear, deploying a shield and gravity field to protect the newbies onboard.
Fang Zhiwen, witnessing the bloody scene on the other bus, shivered uncontrollably, feeling grateful that she had chosen to follow Tang Zheng, otherwise, she’d be dead like those unlucky ones.
Seemingly realizing that the first bus wasn’t getting away, the Buddha statue shifted its focus back to the immediate bus, tearing through its walls with its hands like pincers, about to crawl inside. But then gravity bombs and plasma cannons fired simultaneously, hitting it squarely.
The Buddha statue fell from the bus, tumbling down the road, while the Conquerors fired a barrage, creating craters along the street, yet failing to impede its movement.
The Buddha statue sprang up deftly, charging like a war chariot, then with a leap within thirty meters, it landed again on the bus.
Bang, the roof was dented in from the impact.
Sizzle, sizzle, beams fired repeatedly, hitting the Buddha statue’s head and finally knocking it down again.
"Yu Deye, don’t let it get on the bus. Everyone else maintain continuous firepower." Tang Zheng roared to the Mother Queen to change the ammo clip; otherwise, he’d have to wait for the bullets to cool down. At that moment, he truly desired a weapon with infinite ammunition, a wish the Silver Trojan would never fulfill.
"What in the world is that Buddha statue?" An Xiuru asked Li Xinlan. With nearly a hundred people dead, even the dimmest person could see there was a problem. Watching Tang Zheng at the frontlines, she suddenly became worried, "He won’t be in danger, right?"
"Don’t worry, he’s our group leader, with plenty of combat experience," Li Xinlan reassured An Xiuru, looking at the woman and the students with a sigh, it was truly torment for Tang Zheng.
Unable to catch up, the Buddha statue grew frantic, its eyes shooting out golden rays like arrows, constantly bombarding the two buses.
No matter how skilled Pang Meiqin was at driving, she couldn’t outpace the beams, but at least Tang Zheng and Ai Yixin were there to take the brunt of the assault. Shen Qingshuang’s bus, however, fared much worse.
The old soldier’s defensive capabilities were limited after all, and although the new recruits ducked down on their seats, not daring to look, the beams were too sharp, easily penetrating the walls.
This led to several more corpses with pierced bodies.
The new recruits discovered that nowhere was safe; the constant pressure of imminent death caused them to break down, forgetting to fight back, merely praying incessantly. (To be continued.
