Chapter 1559: Chapter 21 Teleport
There were still pedestrians browsing the night market on the main street, and vehicles too; they were momentarily startled upon seeing two buses scurrying away like lost dogs.
"What is that?" A couple, full of curiosity, watched the dark Buddha statue sprint away.
The Buddha statue turned its head, its gaze landing on them; "sizzle," a golden light fired, blowing the man’s head straight off, and the woman splattered with blood let out a piercing scream.
It wasn’t until a sedan was penetrated by the golden light spike and crashed, twisted and askew, into a tree on the roadside that the pedestrians started to panic, dodging and making phone calls to the police and fire department.
"No, we have to kill it!" Watching the Buddha statue attack indiscriminately, having already killed at least ten pedestrians, Tang Zheng could no longer wait.
"Don’t be rash." Dantai held Tang Zheng back, "Wait a bit longer, see what other abilities it has?"
To special agents, a few dead civilians were simply irrelevant; how to obtain sufficient intel to kill the Buddha statue was what truly mattered.
"Has our world been invaded? Are conquerors from other parallel spaces here to play a game?" With night vision device in hand, Gu Xueqi stared coldly at the Buddha statue, observing its every move.
This conjecture weighed heavily on everyone’s hearts. If that was the case, these pedestrians, to them, were no different from natives; after all, the Warhammer Team had also killed many natives in their games.
"No more waiting." Seeing the Buddha statue turn its head, aiming for a mother and child strolling the streets, Tang Zheng, in armed Hellfire, rushed out.
The Buddha statue fired a beam of golden light, but thankfully a gravity bomb hit its head in time, deflecting the beam.
Bang, Tang Zheng slammed heavily onto the Buddha statue, pressing it to the ground and skidding quite a distance, plowing a deep trench in the asphalt road.
The Hellfire’s eyes emitted light beams that hit the Buddha statue, only leaving a centimeter-deep pit; its beams scraped past Tang Zheng’s head and instead melted the armor.
The Buddha statue was incredibly strong; Tang Zheng could not hold it down at all, much like an ant trying to stop a vehicle, being grabbed by the arm and viciously slammed onto the ground.
Jiang Xiuming and Dantai’s psychic storm had already swept over the Buddha statue, but unfortunately, to little effect; they seemed to have anticipated this and opened fire with their rifles in rapid succession.
Mu Nianqi, brandishing a curved knife, charged at the Buddha statue. The Northern Wind Ring just conjured around her shot towards it, carving several cracks.
Qin Yan activated Shadow Country, hurling the magic gun at the Buddha statue, creating sparks as it stabbed into it.
Xu Biyun’s puppet sprang from the ground, punching the Buddha statue’s head with both fists, to no avail, as the recoil shattered its arms instead.
Li Xinlan’s ice spears and Ruan Feifei’s lightning, all struck at the Buddha statue. The time-space blackfish, swishing its tail, crazily ripped off some fragments.
Tang Zheng activated the thrusters, rebounding from the ground, single-handedly strangling the Buddha statue’s neck, as the military figures appeared, unsheathing the sword for a furious chop.
Bai Guo emerged from the shadows, the magic bow firing rapidly, only to nearly get kicked by the Buddha statue.
"Bai Guo, get back," Qin Yan exclaimed in shock; the Buddha statue’s strength was roughly at the peak of the third-order heroes, extremely formidable.
Dong Zixuan’s single-target attacks were ineffective, unable to help, almost to the point of spitting blood from anger.
"Don’t go!" Chu Baichuan held back Ai Yixin, lunging towards the Buddha statue.
Ai Yixin sighed, but still charged out.
"Didn’t I tell you to go back? I’m enough." Chu Baichuan was anxious, not afraid that his words would offend anyone.
"Even if I’m hurt, I need to block at least once." Ai Yixin’s mouth pursed lightly, with Platinum Diamond Protector materializing in front of the Buddha statue.
The Buddha statue’s thrust towards the arm of the housewife met Chu Baichuan’s touch, activating the explosion ability, instantly engulfing it in flames, and the resulting shock force diverted the punch.
"Get away!" Chu Baichuan’s eyes reddened in urgency; although he was somewhat reckless, he had a natural talent for combat, knowing at a glance that this monster was not easy to handle; a glancing blow could easily cause serious injury.
"Yixin, Bai Guo, get back!" Tang Zheng exclaimed; those below the third stage were almost no help to the battle, being able to protect themselves was all he could ask for.
"Lin Wei, Qin Yan, act as meat shields; Lu Fan, Xin Lan, restrict its movements!" Dantai commanded the combat, "Mu Nianqi, Yu Deye, Tang Zheng on main assault, watch for coordination!"
Dantai didn’t leave the others idle, monitoring the surroundings.
Pang Meiqin stopped the bus, ready to join the battle, but was stopped by Dantai; it was necessary to keep a reserve team, plus her being first-stage meant she was at a disadvantage in close combat.
Already able to activate Hero Mode, Lu Fan was eager to perform - sand from the wristwatch poured out like a tsunami, on its way towards the Buddha statue, forming scarabs that after climbing onto its body, started gnawing, attempting to burrow into the flesh.
Li Xinlan shattered the nearby fire hose; water gushing skyward was precisely controlled by her, icing over the Buddha statue’s body, slowing its movements.
Gu Xueqi flicked a phoenix into existence, enhancing everyone’s states and increasing combat power.
Old Soldier and Qin Yan tightly entangled the Buddha statue, preventing its attacks from falling on anyone else.
Tang Zheng also released his warrior, surrounded the Buddha statue, and then joined Mu Nianqi in besieging it.
"This combat routine isn’t bad." Yu Deye went full firepower, a bullet hit the Buddha statue’s head, finally shattering a third of it. It wanted to counterattack, but it simply couldn’t break free, so it was perfectly safe, proudly bubbling with joy.
"Increase firepower!" Dantai urged. Although they could wear down the Buddha statue, taking too long would put too much pressure on Old Soldier and Qin Yan, wasting too much life energy. Without their warriors, things would be even more troublesome.
Newbies all got off the bus, hiding far away, afraid of being affected. The women wept, turning into teary-faced cats, their clothes wrinkled and disheveled.
Having witnessed countless deaths, they finally learned their lesson. No one dared to run away; leaving the Conquerors would mean certain death.
"Push harder!" Tang Zheng was worried about enemy reinforcements and attacked the Buddha statue with all his might, finally seizing an opportunity to chop off its feet.
Bang, the Buddha statue’s feet exploded, shooting small rocks chaotically like a swarm of wasps, blinding everyone’s vision, leaving only the top half of the Buddha statue lunging at Yu Deye.
"Damn it!" Two minutes of combat had reduced Yu Deye’s vigilance. Caught by surprise, he meant to dodge to the right, but a light beam blocked his path, forcing him to change direction.
Like a gecko, the Buddha statue severed an arm and used the recoil to sprint forward, crashing into Yu Deye. Its mouth opened wide, biting down a large chunk along with the protective clothing and flesh.
Yu Deye felt a pain in his ribs as the Buddha statue’s arm pierced through, fortunate that his quick reaction prevented a large hole from opening in his stomach.
Tang Zheng grasped the Buddha statue’s head and yanked it off.
"What are you guys eating? Don’t you know I’m weak in close combat?" Yu Deye slapped a first aid kit on his belly and didn’t forget to shoot, trying to steal the final blow. Unfortunately, Mu Nianqi and Qin Yan were faster, destroying the remaining half of the Buddha statue’s head.
"Gu Xueqi, what are you daydreaming about? Heal me!" Yu Deye roared, thinking that he had really suffered a loss this time.
Gu Xueqi shot out a Young Phoenix, not getting angry despite being scolded.
"What’s the spoils of war? Let me check it out!" Yu Deye nodded at Old Soldier, putting on the airs of a veteran. "I put in a lot of effort, should go to me, right?"
Lin Weiguo ignored Yu Deye and gave a Star Seed and a small hand cannon to Tang Zheng.
"Buddha statue fingers, 3S-grade shield." Tang Zheng reported the data and tossed it to Gu Xueqi.
Yu Deye’s mouth twitched. He wanted to ask for it, but seeing Mu Nianqi’s glaring eyes, he dared not speak up.
"If it was an offensive weapon, I would have given it to you." Tang Zheng consoled, "As long as Gu Xueqi is alive, we can ensure our combat power."
"Fine then!" Yu Deye grumbled less, after all, Tang Zheng had ’humbled’ himself to negotiate, which proved that he valued Yu Deye.
Dantai knew that Tang Zheng was exploiting Yu Deye’s value. If an offensive weapon had dropped, he would have plenty of excuses not to give it. That guy was sneaky and deserved a lesson.
"What’s next?" Li Huiwen spotted the bus as she ran towards the team. Seeing blood dripping continuously through the seams of the bus and a layer of corpses piled up inside, she felt her hair stand on end.
"Let’s leave quickly, the police are coming." Because too many newbies died, this time Lu Fan only needed to dispatch one bus.
"Toys, please pay attention, the mission has been revised. In ten seconds, teleportation will begin!" The voice of the Silver Trojan suddenly came from the wristwatch, startling everyone.
"Silver, have you gone mad?" Old Soldier questioned, "Is there something wrong with you?"
"Sister Xiu Ru, I guess I’ll be forcefully teleported to carry out a mission. You should quickly leave this city. And, try to find a few trustworthy friends to accompany you, it’s safer to have someone to watch your back on the road." Tang Zheng ran over to An Xiuru, took out a Hummer, opened the door, and threw a backpack full of supplies onto the passenger seat.
"Brother Tang!" Bai Guo was startled to see Tang Zheng pulling out supplies in front of ordinary people and wanted to stop him, otherwise, he would be eradicated by the Trojan.
"It’s useless." Qin Yan shook her head with a bitter smile. He was the type of person who would repay any kindness a hundredfold!
"I will, take care of yourself!" An Xiuru, a strong woman, had already calmed down. She didn’t question how Tang Zheng could pull items out of thin air, she looked at the man in front of her and suddenly hugged him, "Survive, you must survive!"
An Xiuru’s tears dampened Tang Zheng’s shirt. If it weren’t for him, she would have certainly died tonight.
The countdown, like an ominous bell, continued, tensely straining everyone’s nerves.
"This is a 3S-grade firearm, very powerful. Never give it to anyone else. There are plenty of bullets, go practice in an open field after leaving the city!" Luckily we captured a fair amount last round; otherwise, Tang Zheng’s weapons would be scarce. He took out several defense shields and a Devil Flame Pistol, and handed them to An Xiuru, "Remember, never let these weapons leave your side!"
An Xiuru wept uncontrollably, holding Tang Zheng tightly.
"Alright, I must go!" Tang Zheng kissed An Xiuru’s black hair and gave her a firm hug.
"No, don’t leave me!" An Xiuru shuddered, no longer able to contain her feelings. She wanted to hold onto Tang Zheng, but his body disappeared, leaving only the residual warmth in her hands.
