Chapter 1557: Chapter 19: Dark Buddha Statue

"We are on a mission, and I cannot tell you anything about it; otherwise, as a punishment, Tang Zheng would be obliterated." Li Xinlan gently patted An Xiuru’s back, hoping she would understand Tang Zheng.

"So many people have died, what are you going to do?" An Xiuru no longer pressed for answers, looking at Tang Zheng, "You better leave quickly, find somewhere to hide."

"Someone will take care of it." Li Xinlan forced a smile, she could tell that this woman also deeply cared for Tang Zheng, even planning for his aftermath.

"Go and comfort her a bit!" Ai Yixin pushed Tang Zheng, who was good in every way, except when it came to matters of the heart—he was just too indecisive.

"What is that?" Li Huiwen screamed, pointing at the street corner; everyone turned their heads just to see a large group of Terracotta Warriors charging out.

Whiz, whiz, the Terracotta Warriors drew their bows, the stone arrows tracing an arc as they flew towards the crowd.

The newbies were thrown into a panic, looking for shelter.

Thud, thud, to everyone’s shock, the stone arrows even pierced into the asphalt road surface, demonstrating penetrating power.

"Such great strength!" Ruan Feifei exclaimed in astonishment, swinging her hand to release a trail of electric arcs.

Lightning surged, striking the Terracotta Warriors and knocking off some powder; since they were inanimate objects, they had a high resistance to electric shock.

"Stay away from behind me!" Dantai pulled out an AT-4 and fired it into the crowd, the searing tail flame flashing past behind him, stirring up clouds of dust.

Bang, a rocket shell hit a Terracotta Warrior, exploding into a display akin to "fairy scattering flowers," affecting several others nearby.

"Damn, they’re so tough!" Seeing only the upper half of a Terracotta Warrior still clambering forward, undeterred in its killing intent, Yu Deye was startled.

"This is the punishment unit?" Lu Fan was frustrated, "Isn’t it too early for this?"

Rumbling thunderously, four mighty horses pulled an ancient war chariot around the street corner, with the charioteer lashing the whip, snapping sharply, the chariot riders wielding war spears and charging menacingly.

All four war chariots, which were terracotta funeral objects, appeared weathered yet majestic. They quickly raced neck and neck, the horse hooves pounding the ground, shaking everyone’s hearts.

Xu Liangmao and the Old Soldier brought out two MK19 automatic grenade launchers, furiously firing at the war chariots. Bang, bang, the grenades exploded on the Main Street, filling the air with dust and smoke.

Xu Biyun fired a rocket launcher, striking the target dead-on, but the war chariot emerged unscathed from the smoke and charged forth, closing in to within twenty meters; the cracks in their bodies were now visible to all.

"Volley!"

Without using any abilities, everyone unleashed a barrage from their 3S-class firearms upon the war chariot.

Bang, just as the chariot seemed about to crash into them, it shattered; stone chunks hit the shield, clinking off.

"Kill, reward a thousand coins and raise one rank for each warrior!" a centurion bellowed, the bravest of them all, waving his war pike and leading the charge.

The newbies opened fire, but ordinary bullets proved ineffective against the centurion; as for the beam attacks, the agile centurion rolled to dodge them completely, and when he couldn’t, he used the shield on his left arm to block the volleys.

"To break through the shield, you’d need at least 2S-grade strike power." Dong Zixuan had just finished remarking when the centurion leaped forward, like a tiger pouncing on its prey, and barreled into the fray.

"I’ve been wanting to test the mettle of the Qin soldiers!" The Old Soldier’s Giant Barrier protected him; he didn’t dodge or flinch, rushing forward to meet the charge with a heavy punch toward the centurion.

Boom, the centurion’s shield shattered, but not before the centurion left three slashes on the Old Soldier.

"Not bad martial skills." The Old Soldier was unharmed; with a Seizing Hand technique, he locked the centurion’s joints, followed by a wheel back fall, swinging him onto the ground.

The ground cracked, but the unfazed centurion kicked towards the Old Soldier’s head, and his soldiers were also closing in.

"Get on the bus, use the Human Train Tactics, quick, quick quick!" Tang Zheng urged, while Lu Fan obediently released two buses.

"No need, watch me." Yu Deye was about to show off, but before he could move, the ground split open and hot lava burst forth, devouring the Terracotta Warriors.

Chu Baichuan was about to unleash his power, but Ai Yixin held him back.

"What the hell are you doing?" Yu Deye erupted in anger, bellowing at the policewoman.

"We’re killing the enemy!" The policewoman ignored Yu Deye, not even glancing at him, and kept on dealing with the Qin soldiers.

Yu Deye felt like lashing out, but Jiang Xiuming stopped him.

As the dust settled, the entire Long Street was a mess, but fortunately, it wasn’t a Residential Area, so not many citizens witnessed their battle.

"Seems like it’s not just here where the Terracotta Warriors appeared?" Dantai took to the skies and saw the city plunged into chaos, with the sound of fire trucks and police cars blaring everywhere.

"Who cares about their fate, what do we do next?" Impatient, Yu Deye looked around in disquiet.

"First we need to find a place to hide!" Even Dantai, as naive as he was, understood the gravity of the situation,"Mu Nianqi, have you encountered such a situation before?"

"No." The Queen’s expression was very grave, "But every time before entering the Holy Land War, there would definitely be omens; it’s said that some Theme Worlds got erased as well."

Heavy-hearted, everyone boarded the bus.

"Tang Zheng!" Fang Zhiwen, not wanting to die and with her face tear-streaked, cried out for Tang Zheng, hoping for some preferential treatment.

"Head for that bus!" After all, we’re alumni. We must look after our own. In the fighting these past days, three people I knew have died.

"Yeah, everyone hurry up!" Fang Zhiwen was quite smart, calling the alumni to join in, not just running off by herself.

"Tang Zheng, thank you. I owe you one." Shen Jiashu passed by Tang Zheng, intending to punch his chest as a friendly gesture, but seeing the blood on his body and the people behind him, he dared not do it.

"What’s the use of owing? You are as good as dead, so you can’t repay it anyway." Yu Deye bared his teeth, intimidating these people, seeking a slight thrill in this way.

"Xiu Ru, help me." The fat woman rushed over, reeking of urine, obviously having wet herself.

"Why should we be the ones to take this bus?" Finally, a newbie couldn’t take the pressure any longer and burst out, which led to more people condemning Tang Zheng and his group.

"Shut up!" Dantai’s icy gaze swept over, instantly silencing them, "You don’t have to ride it. I was going to let Qing Shuang drive, but it seems unnecessary now."

"Group Leader, we were wrong. Please don’t remember the mistakes of us small folks." A middle-aged man stepped out from the crowd, with a smile and a fawning, subservient attitude.

"If you don’t accept a toast, you have to face the consequences!" Yu Deye kicked the newbie’s buttocks, "Hurry up and get on the bus, Tang Zheng, I’m getting on this one."

"No way!" Tang Zheng refused, knowing this guy wanted to use the newbies as toys, he obviously couldn’t agree.

"You really stick your nose everywhere." Seeing that there was no room to maneuver, Yu Deye got on the bus huffing and puffing.

Shen Qingshuang figured she couldn’t escape the duty of being the driver and volunteered straightforwardly.

"I’ll help you." Xu Liangmao indeed took the initiative to help her because of the matter with Li Huiwen.

Over a hundred people, naturally, could not fit into one bus, which led to crowding and even fighting, all fearful of being left behind.

"The rest, come here!" The old soldier’s words made these people cry tears of joy, while those on the bus were greatly disappointed, regretting not waiting a moment longer.

The bus started and headed towards the suburbs.

Armored vehicles carrying the armed police whizzed past, heading to intercept the Terracotta Warriors. Faint gunshots could be heard, which greatly unsettled the citizens as the city fell into turmoil.

"Silver Trojan, what on earth is going on?" Lu Fan shouted at his wristwatch, but regrettably, there was no response. Just as he was about to ask again, the bus suddenly shook violently.

Boom, boom, black cylindrical pillars big enough for two people to embrace, suddenly burst through the ground, shooting up like pile drivers.

Pang Meiqin turned the steering wheel sharply, showcasing her superb driving skills. Unfortunately, the bus behind was not so lucky; first, it crashed into a pillar, then two pillars rose, piercing through the bus’s chassis, hanging it off the ground.

Three newbies were grazed by the pillars, and blood flowed from their scalps.

A full fifty meters, all covered with such pillars, as if in a stone forest.

"Quick, come over here!" Dong Zixuan called out to the newbies, worried about further trouble.

The newbies opened the bus door, jumped down, and ran hurriedly ahead, no one helping others, even if they saw someone falling beside them, they just ran over.

The women cried heartbreakingly, scared to their limit.

"There are still three people with broken bones inside the bus, unable to move. What do we do?" Shen Qingshuang called out, he didn’t really want to save these guys, but couldn’t appear too heartless.

"Leave them behind." Yu Deye’s answer was straightforward as he raised his rifle and fired at a black pillar in a fit of rage.

"No!" Dantai’s attempt to stop him was too late.

The light beam destroyed the pillar, and amid the clouds of dust, a stone Buddha head propelled by the shock wave flew over.

"What is this?" Yu Deye walked over, pressed the muzzle against the head, and before he could fire, the stone statue’s head suddenly opened its eyes, lunged at his calf, and bit.

"Damn it!" Yu Deye reacted quickly, activating his shield, and fired at it, turning it into a pile of dust, yet he was still frightened into a cold sweat.

The attack of the stone Buddha head was like a signal; all the pillars cracked open, and Buddha statues crawled out of them.

"Fire!" Tang Zheng started to shoot.

A Buddha statue next to a newbie reached out, grabbed him, and then struck with its arm, smashing the newbie’s head like a rotten watermelon.

The Buddha statues crouched down, digging out the headless corpse’s heart to chew on, while the other newbies, seeing this scene, almost wet themselves out of fear and fled desperately.

Warhammer team destroyed a third of the pillars, but the rest had already hatched the Buddha statues out. They were pitch black all over with golden eyes and nails, extremely agile, and unleashed a massacre on the newbies.

The dozen or so lagging behind were in deep trouble; the hands of the Buddha statues struck them like swatting flies, instantly turning them into a pile of mush.

The mutilated bodies fell to the ground, the Buddha statues crouched down, opened the chests, and ate the hearts, while the rest continued their charge.

"Hungry!" The Buddha statues, like evil spirits from hell, let out grunts from their throats, like hungry cries.

This cruel and bloody scene caused the temperature on the Main Street to plummet as if entering winter, even the Conquerors felt a bone-chilling cold. (To be continued.
