Chapter 1423: Chapter 12 Green-skinned Beasts (1st update, asking for monthly votes!)

30-millimeter caliber bullets, with the red light of air friction burning, formed six scorching fire lines resembling the sharp teeth of a savage beast, biting towards the Warhammer team on the plains.

Bang, bang, bang, bullets penetrated the ground, creating basketball-sized pits in the soil and throwing up half-meter-high columns of mud.

"Help!" Newbies screamed in terror, clutching their heads, unsure what to do, most instinctively fell to the ground, while others sprinted towards the tree forest recklessly.

"Get down." Square-faced, though panicked, was quick to react and yelled loudly, dropping to the ground like an ostrich.

The newbies, suddenly realizing, as if they had found a lifeline, each crawled toward the ground; a few even tried to find shelter but the continuous barrage of ammunition made them too scared to move.

"Run, towards the tree forest." Tang Zheng was furious. Square-face did more harm than good. In such a plain with no cover, if they didn’t make it to the forest before the landing ship arrived, it was a certain death path.

"Get up, run fast."

The Conquerors urged the newbies, but the machine gun kept firing, and as time progressed, the shooters were gradually adjusting their aiming point, bringing the bullets closer to the team.

The newbies cried and wailed, and only half of them managed to get up and stagger towards the tree forest.

"Run!" The old soldier quickly moved among those newbies who didn’t rise, swinging his leg vigorously and kicking at their bodies because now was not the time to be humane—it was a race with death.

"Fanfan, sand shield, get up, run!" Tang Zheng’s firearms had a too short range, and he had no better options but to kick at the newbies to herd them.

"He’s actually a good guy!" Wei Binbai hadn’t left in advance. Other than waiting for Mu Nianqi, staying in the main group was safer than running out abruptly.

Different strengths lead to different tactical choices. The gold-rimmed glasses guy was smarter as he was among the first batch to run and did so alone on the seemingly more dangerous outer side.

The first wave of newbies was mostly clustered together because they had just charged and hadn’t fallen behind yet. Of course, a few were calmer, deliberately slowing their pace as they felt it was safer to stay within the crowd.

"Are you crazy? Come over here, it’s safer with everyone." A short-haired girl saw the gold-rimmed glasses guy lagging behind and quickly reminded him.

"Idiot." Jiang Xiuming ignored her, bullets aren’t free after all. Shooters typically target more valuable groups; hitting a crowd is more cost-effective and causes more damage.

"Spread out, don’t cluster together." Tang Zheng yelled, what Jiang Xiuming could think of, he would certainly know, but he was just not selfish.

The kind short-haired girl was stunned, instantly feeling as if she had swallowed a fly, disgusting. Compared to the group leader, this gold-rimmed glasses guy was too selfish, and by his composed expression, it was clear he wasn’t running in the wrong direction mistakenly.

Regardless, driven by the Conquerors’ combined shouting and kicking, all of the newbies finally got to their feet and started sprinting towards the tree forest.

Although the speed of the landing ship wasn’t fast, it was definitely fast enough to catch up with their legs, flying within two hundred meters in a few breaths—already within the strike range.

Dada dada, the machine gun’s thunderous roar was deafening, sweeping through the crowd, immediately causing soil to fly everywhere, several newbies were torn apart, limbs and broken organs scattered, splashing onto nearby newbies.

Thump, thump, witnessing those terrifyingly close deaths, several women’s legs gave out, they collapsed to the ground, trembling, unable to get up.

"Rocket shells!" The old soldier roared, grabbing the arm of a fallen woman and dragging her away with him while shooting into the sky one-handed to intimidate the driver, though he knew this hope was faint.

"Lu Fan!" Tang Zheng turned around, quickly aimed his gun at two rocket shells streaked with orange-red flames in the sky.

Bang bang, bang bang, Tang Zheng fired a rapid double shot, the bullets traveled through the air, striking the rocket on the right side.

Boom, the rocket shell exploded, bursting into a brilliant flame in the sky.

Lu Fan unleashed his ability, the soft soil surged like a fountain, creating a row of ten-meter-high soil columns blocking the rocket shells.

Tang Zheng quickly dragged two female newbies away in retreat.

Pang Meiqin tried but couldn’t activate the Annihilation Angels. If she had the Cry of the Ferocious Bird, she definitely could have easily shot down the craft.

"Dantai, it’s up to you now!" Tang Zheng almost forgot that he still had a Psychic type deputy leader. Although the enemy machine was a bit far, it shouldn’t pose a major issue.

Dantai lagged behind, waiting for the landing ship to approach. Before another volley of rocket shells could be launched, he projected a mental impact that was invisible to the naked eye, striking the ship and knocking the driver unconscious.

The landing ship immediately shuddered, like a small boat overturned in a storm, tilted and crashed towards the ground, boom, the landing ship exploded.

"Oh yeah!" Seeing this scene, several newbies shouted excitedly, and most of them also stopped, leaning on their knees, gasping for breath.

"Looking at the model of that plane, it should be a transport plane. If it were a fighter aircraft, many more newbies would certainly have died." Wei Binbai’s observational skills were good; looking at the large-bellied landing ship, he guessed its purpose.

"Don’t stop, keep running." Tang Zheng urged.

"Not all the enemies were wiped out? Let’s go check out what kind of enemy it was, we might even find some spoils of war." The man with the square face suggested, also looking to acquire some equipment for protection.

"Shut up. If it’s a transport plane, how could there be just one? How could there be no fighter escort? It’s very likely that the transport squadron is right behind us, reinforcing the battlefield." Tang Zheng kicked the newbie in front of him, "Run!"

Smelling the gunpowder in the air, the newbies suddenly remembered that a war had just taken place here.

"Xin Lan, Meiqin, come with me to scout!" Tang Zheng picked two people and rushed towards the crashed enemy plane, ready to pick up spoils of war and gather intelligence, not wanting to fight blindly.

"Be careful." Qin Yan instructed meticulously, taking good care of the newbies without leaving anyone behind.

"All the conquerors in this team have issues. How are you even surviving?" Seeing that there were other kindhearted people beside Tang Zheng, Wei Binbai was completely impressed.

"At least Tang Zheng is giving the newbies a chance." Mu Nianqi felt he couldn’t do the same; a man who stood by his principles was admirable.

"What is he, and what are the newbies? Cannon fodder. This is natural selection—those who can’t adapt might as well die sooner." Wei Binbai didn’t want to deal with so much burden, finding it annoying to even look at.

"What if they endure the initial phase and later explode into major fighting forces?" Ruan Feifei countered, thinking of her own experience. If it weren’t for Tang Zheng, she would have definitely died in her first battle.

"What’s most lacking inside the Trojan is time and opportunity. Forget it, I’m too lazy to argue." Wei Binbai scoffed, "Don’t blame me for being crude, but with your kind-heartedness, it’d be weird if half the conquerors don’t die in this battle."

Before Tang Zheng and his two comrades could get close to the destroyed landing ship, five tall green-skinned beasts had crawled out. Although their protection was shabby, they relied on their strong bodies to survive.

Seeing Tang Zheng and his companions, the blood-drenched beasts roared and charged without even bothering to pick up their weapons.

The woman was about to release an ice spear, but Tang Zheng stopped her.

"Save it and maintain endurance; this battle might last a long time!" Tang Zheng drew his high-frequency ion vibration knife and bravely attacked the beasts.

The beasts, over two meters tall, had thighs and arms as thick as pillars, resembling upright walking ferocious creatures. Their faces were hideous with protruding teeth and they lacked complex language, only able to utter hoarse sounds.

Both sides rapidly closed the distance. The beast drew a huge machete from its back, and any human fighting it in a melee without wearing power armor was courting death.

Watching the cleaver with the heavy scent of blood descend, Tang Zheng dodged to the side of the beast, turned on the vibration knife, and thrust it upward into its ribs.

The knife cut through the beast’s skin, pulverized its heart, and it fell down spraying blood.

Taking advantage of the momentum, Tang Zheng, rushing towards the second beast, saw Pang Meiqin dash past the corpse, flick the big machete with her toes, catch it, and hurl it at another beast.

Bang, the beast blocked with its knife, then Pang Meiqin appeared in front of it. She kicked its chest, causing it to lose balance, grabbed the machete flung into the air, and chopped its head.

The beast’s shoulder and head were severed, and plasma spurted out.

Da da da, from within the wreckage lay an injured beast with its lower body crushed, yet it still managed to set up a heavy triple-barreled machine gun and opened fire at Tang Zheng and his comrades.

The fifth beast, toppled by Meiqin, writhed in a pool of blood, pulling the pin of a grenade strapped to its belt.

Meiqin kicked it into the air where it exploded, flesh scattering.

The combat spirit of the beasts weighed heavily on their hearts; the stubbornness was too extreme, even the injured beasts within the wreckage didn’t go for treatment, but fearlessly continued attacking.

Tang Zheng and Meiqin’s physical fitness was off the charts, killing them effortlessly. The beasts realized this and even attempted to blow up the wreckage of the landing ship to perish together with them.

"You won’t succeed!" Tang Zheng, gripping his vibration knife, darted into the wreckage like lightning, coming out with a bloody whirlwind of beast heads in the air.

A beast used its teeth to pull the pin of a grenade and shoved it into an ammunition box.

Tang Zheng leaped in front of it, plunged the knife into its eye socket, scrambled its brain pulp, then grabbed the grenade and threw it away.

The continuous explosions thundered, causing the newbies to repeatedly turn around and watch in awe as Tang Zheng slaughtered those monsters. But the next moment, when the deafening sound of engines came, they were terrified, staring blankly at the sky.

As the ash-tinted sky filled with the smoke of gunpowder seemed to darken, landing ships appeared like locusts, densely dotting the sky, darkening it further.

Seeing their fallen comrades, their speed suddenly increased. The escort warships accelerated, their bullet nests fully open.

"Run!" The man with the square face, pale as iron from fear, roared and dashed towards the forest with all his might.

The newbies finally snapped into action. This time without needing the conquerors’ urging, they ran like ants scalded by boiling water.
