Chapter 1424: Chapter 13 Struggle
Green-skinned beastmen were relatively poor, and one could tell from their equipment. Thus, when the bullet nests of the escort aircraft opened, it was purely for deterrence. The pilots were reluctant to waste them, stating that the machine guns were sufficient to wipe out these ants.
Three escort aircraft broke away from the squadron and accelerated towards them. The machine guns on the underside of the fuselage roared and fired bullets, forming a dense line of fire.
"How do we block this?" Lu Fan felt frustrated. The bullets weren’t rocket shells, and the coverage was too wide. Maintaining such a large sand shield was too much of a life energy consumption, not worth it.
"I’ll handle it!" Dantai stopped and stared at the escort aircraft. He fired a mental impact from his brow because he had activated his Hero Mode, elevating his ability and boosting his attack power even more.
In the cockpit, the beastman pilot’s head buzzed violently, blood streamed out from his seven apertures. His brain nerves were destroyed, he died, and the uncontrolled escort aircraft staggered toward the ground.
Green-skinned beastmen, being slow-witted, saw their fellow aircraft crash and, without seeking the cause, rushed forward, firing all machine guns.
Among the flying bullet casings, bullets hit the ground, creating columns of soil that rapidly chased after the survivors like poisonous snakes.
"Tang Zheng, stop searching and run!" Dantai swung his arm vigorously, shouted for Tang Zheng and the others to follow, and then focused to release a psychic storm, sweeping the nearby airspace.
The incoming escort aircraft dropped like dumplings, some exploding into fireballs and getting destroyed, others managed a rough landing. The cabin opened, beastmen emerged and started shooting at them from the ground.
The newbies were still over a hundred meters from the forest line, but their physical strength was severely drained. In a state of mental fear, which triggered a chain reaction, a woman’s heart beat too fast, she gasped for air and actually fainted.
"How troublesome!" Ruan Feifei passed by and complained, but she didn’t abandon the woman. She grabbed her by the collar and they both fled.
Some women who found the Thunderstorm rifles too heavy to carry for faster escape simply threw them away, and even some men did the same, not thinking about the future.
"Pick up the guns!" Tang Zheng carried two three-barreled machine guns on his back, used a vibration knife to cut off a beastman corpse’s ammunition bag and hung it on his body, then picked up an ammunition box and fled towards the forest.
"It’s so heavy!" Li Xinlan picked up a machine gun and realized it weighed over a hundred pounds; an ordinary person could hardly fight while holding it. Yet for the woman, it was still bearable.
Pang Meiqin also had a significant load of over three hundred pounds, but she moved gracefully, not showing any signs of clumsiness.
Although it was only a matter of seconds, for the landing ships, it was enough time to fly over this distance and strafe the ground to kill those who had murdered kin and looted supplies.
While listening to the machine gun noise, Pang Meiqin agilely dodged to the side, and then bullets whizzed past her, mud splattered on her.
"How dirty!" The beautiful leg stewardess sniffed the air filled with the smell of blood and decay, suddenly turned around, picked up the machine gun with one hand, pressed the trigger, the three muzzles spun crazily and sprayed a stream of fire.
The bullets flew and hit the landing ship after a few shots, continuous firepower broke the cabin glass and killed the pilots.
The landing pod fell, and upon the captain’s shout, the beastman soldiers directly opened the hatch. At about fifty meters high, they incredibly jumped down, their bravery was incomparable.
"Can’t believe this, they didn’t die?" Zhou Anbang, being an experienced soldier, remained calm, turned back to observe the beastman, only to see them bounce back from initial dizziness after hitting the ground, then they stood up and charged, nearly popping his eyes.
If it were humans, they would have been smashed into meatloaf.
Pang Meiqin frowned slightly, yet she did not spray the beastmen, considering them too insignificant in value. She aimed at the landing pod and shot down another.
"Let’s go, the enemy is coming up!" Tang Zheng, to reduce pressure for Meiqin and Xin Lan, proactively shot at the landing pod, attracting their fire.
Compared to Meiqin, Tang Zheng had more exquisite shooting skills. He carried the ammunition box with one hand and handled the machine gun with the other, like a war god.
The bullets penetrated the landing pod’s cockpit, killed the pilots, then swept across the cabin, breaking them and causing chaos and casualties among the beastmen inside.
The Green Skin captain yelled, opened the hatch, and ordered the soldiers to jump. He was sweating and yelling urgently. Those two people below were too terrifying; their personal casualties were even greater than anti-aircraft gunfire. If this continued without closing in, they all would be gone.
The pilots also received orders, uniformly lowered their altitude, preparing for the beastmen to launch individual assaults.
"Meiqin, hurry!" Li Xinlan urged. The first wave of beastman charging was very fast, already reaching fifty meters away.
Boom, Boom, Boom, the beastmen holding assault rifles launched a wild offensive.
"I know." Pang Meiqin fired another round of suppressive fire, then turned to retreat. As a Conqueror, her physical condition was naturally excellent, leaving them behind in a moment.
The beastman soldiers were dumbfounded; they took pride in their physical prowess, even able to confront interstellar soldiers wrapped in power armor like Iron Canned Heads, yet now they couldn’t catch up to a few ordinary humans.
The captain roared in anger, trying to inspire morale, but then several bullets came flying and exploded its head.
Although Zhou Anbang was a soldier, he had never witnessed such a scene before. The landing ship descended, and then the Beastman soldiers jumped down without even using ropes, which was incredibly fierce.
As a professional military man, Zhou Anbang understood that this was a combat race. No soldiers from any country on Earth could withstand them, not even the elite from Division A. However, those two men and women managed to blow up the landing pod with just their naked eyes and a machine gun.
"I must be seeing things," Zhou Anbang’s worldview was overturned, and his confidence as a king of soldiers was shattered, causing him a bit of hysteria.
"What are you daydreaming about, trying to get yourself killed?" Lin Weiguo, carrying two newbies, slapped Zhou Anbang’s back, "Run!"
"Stop fighting and get to the forest!" Dantai urged. More and more Beastmen were reaching the ground, the barrage was getting denser, and their sprinting speed was not slow, morale high.
The two sides were more than three hundred meters apart, and the fleeing newbies had already entered their range. Two unlucky ones were hit, directly turning into minced meat.
The weapons of the Beastmen were designed to penetrate the armor of interstellar soldiers and chaotic demons, so the caliber and kinetic energy were significant, a hit meant certain death.
Listening to the sounds of guns and cannons behind them, the newbies ran faster and finally rushed into the forest. They felt safe and collapsed on the ground, panting and resting, but when they looked back, they were almost scared to pee.
The Beastmen formed a skirmish line with a number exceeding a thousand cluttered, filling their entire field of vision.
"What do we do? They’re charging us!" The man with a square face remembered he still had a rifle, he raised it to test fire, but the Thunderball veered wildly, breaking a nearby tree.
"Well, great. The newbies are all going to hang here just after landing." Wei Binbai had no intention of intervening, not wanting to waste life energy. As for weapons, even the Fearless couldn’t take the newbies’ initial equipment, or they would be punished.
"Keep running!" Qin Yan shouted, while Sha Ou and the Old Soldier were less civilized, kicking and driving them forward.
Bullets shot into the forest, hitting tree trunks, shaking off many leaves with a rustling sound.
"Why are you standing around like wooden stakes, run!" Tang Zheng and his two companions returned.
"I got it!" Zhou Anbang reached out to catch the ammunition box, but when Tang Zheng let go, he felt the force of over a hundred pounds on his arm, unable to hold it.
Bang, the ammunition box crashed to the ground, kicking up a lot of dust.
Looking at the box that had embedded an inch into the soil, the newbies were moved again, then felt a bit of safety. With such a strong group leader, what was there to fear? Then their gaze shifted to Pang Meiqin standing behind him, who was holding a machine gun and suppressing the Beastmen, clearly seeing the blood burst from those monsters one by one as they were shot and fell.
"Running like this isn’t the way, use your power and finish them off!" Dong Zixuan hadn’t changed; seeing the almost exhausted newbies, she wanted to help them.
Before Tang Zheng could reply, suddenly more than a dozen blue lightnings surged from within the Beastmen’s lines.
Sand and dust surged instantaneously, forming a shield wall in mid-air. Most of the lightning hit it, thunderously scattering the sand in all directions, and before Lu Fan could comment, several bolts had penetrated, but Ruan Feifei was quick to shoot out Thunderball Migratory Fish, colliding with them.
Erratic electric arcs shot wild, numbing the newbies.
"On the right." Gu Xueqi quickly identified the culprit releasing the lightning.
It was a Beastman Shaman, different from the regular soldiers, their bodies painted with colorful painted totems, wearing necklaces made of bones, holding a magic wand inlaid with Storm Crystals, each swing unleashing lightning.
This was an elite type of Beastman soldiers, so there were also a squad of tall Mechanical Beasts guarding them. These creatures, five meters tall, were half-life, half-mechanical combat puppets made by mounting machinery on Beastmen’s bodies, named Beast Armor Soldiers.
Ruan Feifei shot out a lightning bolt, and an energy shield immediately popped up on the Beast Armor Soldier’s armor, blocking the attack.
"This grenade is so heavy!" The man with a square face screamed, while Zhou Anbang had a dejected expression, realizing how pathetic he was for not being able to throw the grenade far enough.
In fact, it wasn’t the fault of the king of soldiers; the Beastmen’s grenades were bulky, like a bucket with a wooden handle attached, weighing over thirty pounds, practically usable as a Warhammer.
Tang Zheng threw one ahead of the Beastman soldiers, creating a big pit three meters in diameter, almost comparable to an AT-4 Rocket Launcher.
"Bai Guo, any discoveries?" Tang Zheng tapped his communicator on his throat, the static was not minor, but fortunately, it wasn’t blocked.
"We found an abandoned tunnel shelter, about five hundred meters from the forest line." Natural Stupid’s voice came from the speaker, boosting the spirits of the survivors.
"We’re saved." The man with a square face was delighted, breaking into a run, the newbies also had rested enough, quickly getting up, afraid to fall behind and be killed by the Beastmen.
Just as Tang Zheng was about to inquire in detail about Bai Guo’s information on the shelter, gunshots and Lin Jing’s cries suddenly transmitted through the communicator.
