Chapter 1279 - 33: Werewolf Attack

Chapter 1279: Chapter 33: Werewolf Attack

The night sky was cloudless, the moon bright and stars sparse, casting a silvery glow on the streets like a layer of silver sand. As Tang Zheng and company burst through the doorway, they were forced to halt. The vampires had not dispersed and were still surrounding them, seeing that firearms couldn’t hurt them, they began to use cold weapons.

"Break through!" Lin Weiguo, holding an AT-4 with one hand, fired to the right, trying to open a passage to the cars.

The vampires scattered frantically as the rocket shells whizzed past them and exploded against the wall, blasting a large hole.

"Transform and kill them." Having lost many of their kind, the vampires were completely enraged, soaring into the air and shooting down from above.

"Protect the Little Red Riding Hood," Tang Zheng commanded as he shot down two unfortunate vampires with his Devil Flame Pistol, ready to break out but was pulled back by Dantai.

"We can’t rush, it’s too dangerous, everyone retreat back into the club," Dantai sensed a threat and immediately cautioned, but it was a fraction too late.

Like bamboo shoots in spring, the rooftops on both sides of the street were crowded with humans, armed to the teeth, numbering in the thousands. At a command, they volleyed at the club entrance, with hundreds wielding rocket launchers, and in the blink of an eye, the sky was filled with orange-red tailed rocket shells.

Tang Zheng generated a dazzling shield around himself, deployed gravity suppression, and positioned himself at the front of the team.

The explosions were relentless, blending into a tumult that completely engulfed the street in searing flames and blasts of air, bullets swarming like locusts, zipping everywhere with a whistling sound.

Lu Fan unfurled a Sacred Protection Shield, safeguarding five people, including Little Red Riding Hood.

"Retreat back!" With the strength of the Warhammer Team, a forceful advance might be possible, but that could result in newbie casualties. Tang Zheng didn’t want to take the risk. Taking another route that didn’t lead to deaths and could provide clarity on the identity of their opponents seemed a better option.

"They’re definitely not vampires!" An old soldier spat out, not as fortunate as the vampires who were shredded by concentrated gunfire, their remains scattered on the street, blood showering down like rain, creating a scene of extreme horror.

"There’s someone behind us!" a newbie at the back of the formation shouted, just before being peppered into a sieve by machine gun fire. Other vampires from within the club also arrived, grinding their teeth in fury, intent on slaughtering these intruders.

Ruan Feifei waved her hand, releasing a bolt of lightning that grew, split, and formed into branches in the air, striking down the front row of vampires, flipping them over. Yet those behind them continued to charge fearlessly.

"Crash through the wall, get out. We’re strangers here; it’s best to take the easiest route." Dantai released a Mental Impact, causing the vampires to barely flinch before they steadied themselves.

"Brother Lin, Li Xinlan, Ai Yixin, Mu Nianqi, you three break open a path. Ruan Feifei, Dantai, Qin Yan, you’re the second wave," Tang Zheng directed on the fly. "Lu Fan, Meiqin, keep Little Red Riding Hood safe."

A special metal flowed from the wristwatch, coating Lin Weiguo’s body with a layer of hard armor. Broad-shouldered, the old soldier slammed through the wall with his body and rushed out onto the street.

Bullets hit him immediately but were repelled, sending out countless sparks.

"Watch out for RPGs!" Jing Lan yelled.

Lin Weiguo didn’t dodge; he charged at the incoming rocket and, like hitting a baseball, swung his armature to meet it.

Boom—the rocket exploded, and the old soldier burst through the flames and smoke, brandishing a machine gun and firing at the attackers on the rooftop.

"Transform, assault!" a silver-haired young man bellowed with resilience, prompting his nearly a thousand-strong tribe to tilt their heads back and let out untamed howls. As their bodies swiftly expanded, muscles bulged, and fur grew, they transformed into werewolves.

Under the moonlit night, the werewolf tribe howled, their presence astounding, shattering glass windows of adjacent buildings.

The werewolves leaped from rooftops and sprinted on all fours at incredible speed, reaching within three meters in an instant, so close the rookies could see the hair on their faces.

Boom, Tang Zheng fired a shot, blasting open a gap. Lin Weiguo, wielding a Bloodthirsty Army Spike, plunged into the werewolves, slicing off half a head of an unlucky soul with one swing, spewing an abundance of limbs and rendering the attack unstoppable.

Despite Ai Yixin’s lack of offensive force, his defense was formidable, fulfilling the role of a meat shield superbly. Li Xinlan threw an icicle that burst a nearby fire hydrant, unleashing a spray of water, which then formed into sand spears with the wave of the woman’s hand, shooting toward the werewolf pack.

The agile werewolves dodged with ease, though their formation was disrupted. Lu Fan’s Sand Spears struck, but their lethality was inadequate.

"Could these be the Big Grey Wolves that want to eat Little Red Riding Hood?" Teng Yuangxiang opened fire, her spiritual power bullets hitting the werewolves and only causing a spray of blood without even managing to push them back; their regenerative powers were too intense, and the pain only spurred their ferocity, choosing targets to devour.

"Very likely." The werewolves were too numerous, their roars echoing and bearing down with a pressure incomparable to any single-entity Boss like the Ghost Bride. Song Xin’s arms trembled uncontrollably, and as the rookies witnessed that a hundred bullets couldn’t kill one werewolf, they were nearly scared witless.

"Did these werewolves come looking for trouble with us?" Mu Nianqi was observant, attempting to capture a captive, but the group spared no one alive.

Blood had spread thickly across the ground, even beginning to flow into the sewer entrances.

Tang Zheng tried, but aside from the Hell Motorcycle, he still couldn’t summon any large vehicles, so they had to settle for the cars they had stolen on their way in.

The vampires had disappeared without a trace, and some werewolves had stormed the club, while many more were surrounding Tang Zheng’s group. After another three hundred or so had died, elite-level werewolves took to the stage.

"Are they this tough?" Mu Nianqi’s Devil Flame Pistol hit its target but only managed to inflict a severe injury, unable to kill.

This group of werewolves with red fur had gone berserk, doubling their strength and speed, their bodies leaving afterimages as they charged towards the Warhammer Team.

Lin Weiguo collided with one, tumbling together. His military dagger pierced through its heart, but he also took a slap to the head.

"Freeze, electric shock, lava, use everything!" Tang Zheng’s warrior appeared at the forefront, clearing a path for the team.

Boom, as if an iceberg had risen from the land, massive ice chunks spread out, blocking the street, leaving only a narrow path wide enough for cars. Ruan Feifei sent out several bolts of lightning from under her feet, which quickly extended into the water and then onto the werewolves.

This time Dong Zixuan’s control over her powers was reasonable, the asphalt road cracked, lava surged out, flooding the passage and drowning the werewolves ahead.

The werewolves lucky enough to survive had to dodge and weave.

"Don’t crowd, sit as you were before," Tang Zheng cautioned the newbies from trying to cram into the Conquerors’ car, "Those who don’t listen will be thrown out."

Most of the newbies were honest, but there were always a few who thought they knew better. However, after hearing Tang Zheng’s threat, they abandoned the idea of fighting for a seat. The fat-faced doctor, not having heard, had only thoughts of escape and made a dash for the nearest car.

"There’s no seat for you in this one!" a female university student exclaimed anxiously. The seating was just right—if one more person tried to get on, there wouldn’t be enough space.

"This is mine, now drive!" The fat-faced doctor, terrified of death, didn’t wait for anyone else, slammed the car door shut with a bang, and urged Xu Biyun to drive.

"Beat it!" Lin Fachan, supporting his girlfriend, rushed to the side of the car, yanked the door open, grabbed the fat-faced doctor by his hair, and pulled him out.

"What are you doing? Are you crazy?" The fat-faced doctor was angered and complained to Xu Biyun, "Look what he’s done!"

"Get in quick!" Xu Biyun couldn’t be bothered with these troubles and only wanted to leave as soon as possible. As the Conquerors boarded their cars, the werewolves’ assault intensified, and with two cars already gone, the arcade girl grew impatient.

The fat-faced doctor, seeing Xu Biyun ignoring him and the female university student getting on in the meantime, watched "his" car drive away. Desperate not to be left behind, he aimed at Lin Fachan in hostile desperation and fired.

"Careful!" Lin Jing got into the carriage and was startled as he saw the fat-face make a move. He wanted to draw his gun, but it was too late.

Lin Fachan, with his combat abilities, could have dodged before getting hit but chose to shield his girlfriend and took the bullet. Then his body, leaving an afterimage, flashed past the fat-faced doctor.

The fat-faced doctor, watching Lin Fachan enter the carriage with his dripping blood dagger, still wanted to shoot but discovered intense pain in his thigh and subsequently fell to the ground. Both his thighs were severed.

"My legs, my legs!" The fat-faced doctor screamed, but nobody paid him any attention.

Xu Biyun started the car, following behind the fleet, while the others shot to block the werewolves.

A werewolf ran past the fat-faced doctor, grabbed his head, and then violently slammed it onto the ground, turning it into a pile of broken flesh.

Lu Fan erected a seven-meter-high desert wall. As soon as the werewolves jumped up, an ice spear struck, toppling a wave of them.

Thanks to the hindrance of several group spells, Tang Zheng’s group made their escape from the street. They had killed many werewolves, and now the frenzied pack chased after them.

Bang, a werewolf leapt from the roof and crashed heavily onto the rooftop of the car, pressing down the roof and shattering the glass. However, before it could attack, Tang Zheng raised his hand and fired a shot, blowing through the wall of the carriage and knocking it off. Lin Weiguo in the car behind didn’t hesitate and ran it over.

After chasing for nearly a hundred meters and achieving nothing but leaving behind dozens of corpses, the pack leader howled, summoning the pack to regroup. Pursuing their mortal enemies, the vampires, was also a matter of great urgency.

"We’re safe for now." Seeing the werewolves retreat, the newbies finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Where to now? Little Red Riding Hood’s house is definitely a no-go," Dantai glanced at the woman dressed as a bunny girl and took her purse.

"Give it back!" Little Red Riding Hood made a move to snatch it back, but Dantai pushed her away.

Dantai opened it, checked inside, and found no weapons—just some cosmetics and a small amount of cash. However, several packets of white powder hidden in a secret compartment were found by the special agent, surprising everyone.

"Give it back to me!" Little Red Riding Hood screeched like a cat that had its tail stepped on, "You robbers, let me get out. I don’t need your help."

Lu Fan glanced at her, unimpressed by Little Red Riding Hood’s apparent drug use. (To be continued. If you like this work, feel free to come to Qidian to vote for it, your support is my greatest motivation.)
