In This Rebirth, The Male Lead Is Mine [BL] -
Chapter 75: Pick Up
Chapter 75: Pick Up
In two days, some rumors went around in the gray area of the federation. In other words, the underground world.
"How did this happen?" A man with a masculine physique and sporting a full beard. He frowned heavily, looking at all these reports that came out of nowhere.
The woman with decent and presentable attire was also at a loss. These incidents seemed to just slap them in the face out of nowhere.
"None of the main businesses are affected." The man noticed a seemingly unpredictable pattern. "If they were targeting us, why start with these small ones?"
In just two days, it was reported that some of the small bases of the underground market in various zones had been ransacked. While the loss was insignificant, it was quite puzzling as some of these bases were even inconspicuous. Meaning, they could not be associated as part of the underground world at a glance.
"That’s the most alarming one, boss." The woman could not help but chime in and interrupt the man’s thoughts, her beautiful face wore a solemn expression.
The man also snapped out of his thoughts and turned to the woman, about to listen attentively.
"The one behind this incident, assuming they are only one group... know their restraint and strength. Aside from that, they knew their appetite." The woman deduced that this must be an emerging group. And targeting small bases would not consume their power while also gaining what they wanted the most: resources.
These small bases were small and insignificant in the eyes of the higher-ups, but for an emerging organization, it was already a great boost of strength.
The man also understood this point. He fell silent, and stared at the reports. If he had not been particular and had been too busy to read such reports from small members, he might not have noticed it either.
"Even though small, they sure have their sources inside." The man suspected it was an inside job; if not, how could these people know even the inconspicuous bases?
This must be at least an elite leader, or maybe even part of the council? The man’s brow furrowed; he hoped it was not yet at that point.
Maybe he was overthinking it.
Members of the council would not stoop so low to ransack the small bases, they would directly target one important base. Also, if that were the case, he would not be able to stop everything from happening either.
His position was high but not yet enough to go against a Council Member.
"Boss?" The woman called after the man had fallen into deep thought for a while.
"Nina, ready my aircraft." The man made a decision then, he would try to meet his superior.
This might seem impulsive, and the superior might not take this incident seriously, as small bases being gone would not make any dent in the underground world at all. However, for some reason... he was getting uneasy about this.
The woman, Nina, immediately understood and nodded.
"Yes, Boss." She left and informed someone, preparing the aircraft.
When he was the only one left, the man sighed heavily and massaged his temple.
"Maybe I’m just really overthinking it, and I need sleep so badly," he sighed.
Amidst the rumors and his concern, on the other side of the federation, Rise looked at the rich storage room. His expression did not show any satisfaction or anything, he merely observed the results of the two days of work.
Actually, it was a week’s worth of work. Rise did not just target the underground world. He never thought of them as enemies; in fact, he even thought of them as his future subordinates.
His thoughts were one to really make the higher-ups of the underground world vomit mouthfuls of blood if they were known.
"Not bad." Rise nodded. "But not enough." He also criticized.
All of these would do, but he did not want them to be complacent. His praises were also not cheap and easy to obtain.
Dino had long since become numb, and his heart also began to waver and wholeheartedly obey Rise. He was truly in awe when Rise managed to provide a list of these small bases.
Not only that... Rise seemed to know about future events. Not ’seemed’, he definitely knew something! The instructions given to them were shocking to the core, making them doubt the reality.
"Use this to expand and to connect the various members of the organization."
It would be quite a while before he would visit here again or pay attention to this side. After giving his few instructions, he directly left the base.
They had them tight on a leash; Rise was not particularly worried. Even if some became unruly, of course, they would still be useful as a seed.
Rise did not take any taxi or a car; he just wandered around the wasteland, planning to return to the city center by foot. He did not know what had gotten to him, but he suddenly wanted to walk for a while.
He was preoccupied with the organization lately, and he rarely met Kamille.
Oh, I did not even meet him for two days.
Rise kicked a stone, remembering this point. He missed him, truly. However, aside from not wanting to bother him, Rise was also busy laying the groundwork for his information network.
They would become crucial, and Rise did not want anything to go wrong.
He was always anxious, thinking that he might have missed something and that, like in the past, he would become like a puppet out of nowhere. His memory would become hazy, until he was already nailed in his doom, beyond saving.
"What the fuck!" Rise stopped and suddenly shouted, his voice was so loud that the nearby animals or beasts were so scared, and they scrambled away.
His shout even made nearby ruins crumble further; perhaps he also subconsciously added his forcefield to them.
Rise was just too pissed off, because of his other plans, he could not focus on flirting with Kamille.
"I should be with him, giving him coffee or snacks. Or maybe give him a massage?" Rise chuckled, "I can also make him relax using my body."
Maybe he was too horny?
Rise almost scream again, frustrated.
He loved causing trouble, but he was not into hiding it. Now, he was reduced to using such tactics, which made him question his decisions sometimes.
Wow, I’m really a villain.
Rise exclaimed inside, entertaining himself.
While Rise stopped for a while, lost in his thoughts, the wind suddenly grew stronger around him. Rise instinctively lifted his head.
"Guild Leader?" Rise called with uncertainty.
Kamille floated in midair and then stopped in front of Rise.
"I’m here to pick you up."
