Chapter 37: The Preliminary Party

Rise, satiated and satisfied, nodded and finished his drink. From start to finish, he did not acknowledge anyone or someone bothered him. All in all, it was such a satisfying meal.

Cleaning his plate, he stood up and put the dirty tray in the specified place.

Finished with his meal, it was now time to go and meet Kamille. Since he was not supposed to be familiar with the place yet, he could only go to Kamille’s office.

In his view, it was not a bad thing at all.

Leisurely traversing the corridor, a smile instantly flashed across his lips upon seeing the door of Kamille’s office. Knocking on the door, Rise waited.

Just as he was about to open the door and peek inside again, the door opened on its own, and Rise met a familiar face.

It was Hayes.

His gaze, slightly conflicted, still tried to put a calm expression facing Rise.

"You can come in," Opening the door wider, he stood at the side and let Rise in.

Rise, not standing at the ceremony, only nodded and stepped inside. His gaze naturally landed on Kamille’s desk and on the person himself.

Kamille was flipping some documents, then paused and lifted his gaze, meeting Rise.

Rise did not need to be told and casually moved forward, approaching the desk.

"Did you eat already, Guild Leader?" He asked even though he knew Kamille already did.

It was also lunch, with Rise just taking his brunch.

Kamille normally responded to him as well.

"I already did." Putting down the documents, he glanced at Hayes, who was already standing not far from the desk. He was not as bold and shameless as Rise, though, who was just short on jumping and sitting on the desk by the way he leaned his body closer to it.

"Are they here?" Kamille asked, his tone light and yet still sounding authoritative, not how he talked with Rise when they were alone.

Hayes, Kamille’s second-in-command and also secretary. did not need to be told who the Guild Leader was talking about. Today, he only had one important appointment, which... was also related to Rise.

He nodded. "Yes, Guild Leader. They are already waiting in the meeting room."

In fact, they had been there since earlier. As this was Kamille’s personal order, everyone involved would naturally take it seriously. However, Rise woke up late and only arrived now.

Hayes was convinced that Rise was indeed receiving special treatment from the Guild Leader. Thinking it was only because of his prowess, which no one in the guild could deny.

Kamille nodded slightly, shifting back to Rise as he spoke more casually.

"I’ll introduce you to the party."

Strictly speaking, Kamille as the Guild Leader did not really have an official party yet. Official Parties were like somehow exclusive, and cohesive as a group.

More often than not, Kamille acted alone and was dispatched to black zones. Occasionally, he would be part of the elite group when he was truly needed, just like with the subjugation gate mission.

He did have a temporary party with the team that was usually with him when needed.

Sitting inside the meeting room and facing the other members, Rise observed and assessed the other party. Similarly, they were also doing the same to him.

Kamille sitting at the head seat did not interrupt and let them assess each other. On his left side sat Hayes, and on his right was Rise.

Including Kamille, Rise, Hayes, and three other individuals, there were six individuals in total inside the room.

Rise stared at the three—two women and one man. With the two, he was only familiar with one.

It was one of the women, Adelline. She was a strong woman and used a dangerous whip made of strong metal but also flexible enough to change shape.

He was familiar with her because she was part of the official party they would have a year later. But the other two, the woman and the man, Rise, had no recollection of them.

Perhaps when he entered the guild, they already quit or something else.

Rise and his relationship with the people at the party were not bad and also quite harmonious, even if he still came out as too much most of the time.

He smiled and decided to take the initiative this time, for Kamille’s eyes, of course.

"Hello, my name is Rise Lee. We’ll be working from now; let’s get along well." His tone was gentle and did not have any hint of arrogance at all.

He swept at them before landing on Adelline. Her muscles were not as intimidating in his memory but still looked strong. Even with her muscles, no one would think it was ugly or did not suit her as it was proportionate to her body.

Some might even see her as sexy, which in Rise’s opinion was true.

He gave a genuine smile, which startled the woman. Rise’s feelings for his party might not be as deep as his feelings for Kamille, but compared to how he treated others, it could already be considered good.

Adelline did not seem to be expecting Rise to smile at her, someone she also knows as a strong Esper but with a widespread bad reputation. Feeling shy for some reason, she nodded and returned the smile, albeit looked forced and timid.

It looked quite a contrast to her build, but Rise was not someone to judge, his smile even widened, thinking Adelline was adorable at this time.

The Adelline in his memory was confident and strong, without showing any weakness, they looked and acted far apart, amusing Rise.

The three then also introduced themselves. Aside from Adelline, whom he was familiar with, he became interested in the other two as well. The man was called Oren, and the woman’s name was Kianna.

Rise did not know their abilities yet. He was only interested, but not too much. Compared to them, whatever happened to them to have left the guild or died somewhere on a mission, Rise still prefers his original party with Kamille.

After the two sides were introduced to each other and the atmosphere was just right, Kamille finally spoke once more, starting the official meeting.
