Chapter 36: Storm Brought by a Troublemaker
While Rise was sleeping soundly in his room, another storm was once again created because of him.
The center of this storm was naturally Rise and the Dark Crimson Guild.
As Rise did not want to hold a formal press conference, Kamille could only announce it through their news channels. Being one of the top guilds, the influence of the guild and Kamille’s name was greatly significant, and any news would no doubt cause headlines.
Most especially this time, in no time at all, the website almost crashed. The headlines on the internet were all about Rise Lee joining the Dark Crimson Guild.
In terms of popularity, and being called the media darling, no one could ever defeat Rise in this area.
The news about him being expelled from the Union was still fresh, and now another news of him joining a guild! What was more, it was a guild where he was dispatched to become a temporary member.
Naturally, even with how farfetched it was, some reporters began speculating the connection between the two. Claiming that Rise had long decided to jump ship and only needed formality.
Despite all this news, the Dark Crimson Guild or the Union did not make another statement. The Union was specifically silent about this.
As a matter of course, the representative of news channels had already arrived in front of the guild headquarters, waiting for someone to be interviewed, and it would be best if it was Kamille.
About Rise, they were not even hoping for that! Another incident about him "harassing" reporters happened, and so they were not brave enough for that.
No matter what was happening with the world or how many headlines he created, Rise still slept peacefully. It was indeed peaceful, which even surprised him.
Rise expected to have some nightmares, something about his past life or the like. However, none of that happened. Perhaps, he was really comfortable that he was back in the guild and his mind and heart were at peace.
The next day, Rise stretched lazily, daydreaming for a few minutes before deciding to get up and prepare himself for another day.
After taking a shower and wearing presentable clothes, he left the room, planning to go to the cafeteria. There was a kitchen inside the room, but obviously he did not have any ingredients nor time to cook for himself.
As he left the room, he did not go down immediately but looked at the door opposite him. He was aware, though, that Kamille had long woken up. Unlike him, who often takes his sweet time in bed unless there is an important mission or event the next day, Kamille often wakes up early.
Staring at it for a few seconds, he started walking again and proceeded to the elevator. With nothing better to do, Rise watched himself in the mirror inside. He was only wearing black pants and a white shirt, which fitted on his figure.
As he leaned on his back, his waist appeared thinner than how it really was. His silver hair, while not as bright as his future counterpart, looked glossy and smooth.
"Hmm... Should I cut my hair?" Rise murmured, thinking how his hair had already grown.
While admiring himself, the elevator finally opened, reaching the second floor where the cafeteria was located. Being so familiar with this place, he really did not need any guide.
For the safe side, though, Rise would not directly go to the meeting room that Kamille mentioned last night. As for the cafeteria’s location, he would just reason that it was the same as in the Union, so he checked the second floor first, which was the truth.
When he stepped out of the elevator, Rise was greeted by the lively scene. The second floor not only had the cafeteria, but it occupied a huge part of it, with a small portion still related to food and leisure.
As soon as he appeared, the members who were talking at the side, paused when they saw him.
Rise’s attire in public was always the Union uniform, and he rarely appeared with casual clothes, but his face was recognizable and the type to stand out among the crowd.
He swept his eyes around, most stiffened, and went silent. The lively atmosphere and loud cafeteria were gradually shrouded in silence.
Looking at it, the scene really appeared when a walking calamity appeared.
Used to such scenes, Rise barely paid attention to it and moved forward casually. Whispers began around him, his ears never bothered to listen to them.
There were not only Official Espers in the cafeteria but also ordinary staff from different departments. Most of them could recognize Rise, and even if they did not, their companions would inform them about him.
Whether in the Union or here, it was all the same. Rise grew bored to care about it.
Guess the news about me has already spread, huh?
He went to get and choose his meal; the kitchen staff here was way more professional than in the Union, but they still assisted Rise. If it was in the Union, they had long fled and let Rise choose by himself.
Or perhaps, they were not informed yet of who he was? No matter what the reason was, Rise just continued picking up the dishes he wanted and putting them in his tray.
After he was done, he turned around and noticed that the people inside the cafeteria had dwindled, with some huddled in one corner of the room.
And the part deeper and next to him was devoid of people.
The stark contrast made him laugh inwardly; this was better though.
He chose a table with six chairs, but he occupied it alone. Not bothering with the occasional stares, Rise began eating without a care for the world.
Oh? The tastes of the dishes are still the same. The corners of Rise’s lips lifted, joy evident in his face.
There was also nostalgia hinted within them. He was just happy that he got to enjoy them again. These little things, which Rise would not even look at or bother twice, he began to appreciate.
Along with his temper. If it were him before, he would tease and scare those people who peered or gossiped about him.
Maybe it was true that after experiencing death once, Rise changed? Not a lot, but it still was an improvement, right?
Rise smiled again and continued enjoying his meal, the surroundings became blank for him, and he only had the food in his mind.
He did not know though that some of the people who were secretly watching him had become dazed and slowly averted their eyes; people with red cheeks spread around the whole cafeteria.
