Chapter 26: Personal Guide

As expected, articles soon piled up on the internet about another victim to Rise’s assault, and some protests from the human rights were once again submitted to the Union.

It was not new and would not be the last. Again, Rise would not be stressed about that. He knew, while it seemed unfair, Espers like him had a considerable influence and thus would not be prosecuted about that unless he really committed a grave crime.

For Rise, this was just a bare minimum benefit for them as Espers. The real force is fighting for humanity.

Since it was only an insignificant encounter for him, Rise immediately moved on. He was now in his temporary room at the Red Zone, waiting for Kamille’s summons.

They had things to settle, and honestly, he was looking forward to it.

Since they just cleared a gate, Kamille had some official procedures to tend to. Most missions or gate raids did not really need to be passed on to the government, but this was a state mission that was commissioned by the federation.

All of the members except Rise, the temporary member, were excluded from the procedures. The Union also did not expect him to participate. Rise might if Kamille invited him, but sadly, Kamille only told him to wait.

And so, he was waiting here in his room.

No one would also bother him; most of the members of the Dark Crimson Guild were dispatched, even those not part of the subjugation party. Clearing the monsters in this red zone was also necessary as the gate rank had dropped a lot, potentially erasing the city from the red zone lists.

Rise lay down in his bed, looking at the ceiling. His mind spun and thought of what happened at the gate. A small silly smile appeared on his lips.

His plan for this time was to only make Kamille intrigued and curious about him. Being a bonus if he also got close to him. While he waited for an opportunity, Rise was still not expecting that he would use this card immediately.

Oh well, this situation was so much better than his plan. Rise even thought he was finally getting lucky.

Rise chuckled, his eyes glistening, remembering just how he took a nap at Kamille’s chest.

"It’s still the same..." Rise murmured, feeling fantastic.

Of course, there was also a disadvantage to being exposed as the Guide quickly which like now, Kamille was on guard and suspicious of his intention.

However, the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages. Rise could not really do a slow approach just like he did in his last life or the original trajectory of this world.

Rise was racing against not only time but also the destiny created by the author.

He was arrogant and confident, but he was not foolish. He was literally fighting the creator of this world. Rise was about to try to change every plot that the author devised.

Fortunately, he had plenty of time before the plot started. Even so, Rise would not be complacent either. Being both outside and part of the plot, Rise had to plan ahead. Who knew when the curse of the plot would affect him and everything else?

Kamille...

Rise bit his lips and sat up, his gaze looking outside, the ruins of the city reflecting in his eyes.

His hand was gradually clenching into a fist.

As Rise stayed inside the room, the guild went on as usual and everything was settled, the subsequent matters were left for the federation to handle. The Guilds mission was only to subjugate the gate, and after that, it was not their job anymore.

It was late at night when Kamille knocked on the door. If one was unaware, it really looked like an affair.

Of course, as always, Rise liked the idea of that.

Entering the room, Kamille did not immediately sit but swept his eyes through the room.

The interior of the room was simple, with the paint fading. And as it was a temporary residence, there was no need to make it fancy either. Rise also did not have any belongings on him aside from himself, so it was still clean.

Aside from a big bed, there was a simple sofa at the side, looking old and worn. For Espers, who could even sleep on dirt ground inside the gate if supplies were depleted, it was no big deal.

"You can sit, Guild Leader." Rise invite, his voice soft and low. As if deliberately making his voice low lest someone could hear them outside.

He liked the idea of a night love affair so much!

Kamille only glanced at him slightly before approaching the sofa and sitting. Rise watched him, admiring just how much Kamille seemed to ignore the simple setting as he still looked like a supermodel.

Seeing Rise still standing at the door, Kamille raised a brow.

Rise grinned and finally walked closer; just as Kamille thought he would sit at the bed, he shamelessly occupied the small space on the sofa, squeezing himself in.

The sofa was not huge, to begin with and just enough with Kamille’s build. Now, they were sitting so close on the sofa, Rise, ignoring Kamille’s ridiculous gaze, widened his grin.

"I’ve been waiting for you, Guild Leader."

Rise had skin thick enough to continue his coquettish behavior, not taking the seriousness of the situation. As a result, Kamille was once again speechless.

All of his questions appeared to evaporate, only leading to one.

"Are you always like this?" He could not help but ask. Kamille thought Rise always exuded an indifferent and arrogant attitude, but he was also easygoing and mischievous enough to tease him.

Pretending to be clueless, he cocked his head and asked. "Like what?"

"Like... clingy?" Kamille did not know if that was the right word.

"What?" Rise was taken aback for a moment, and as he processed what Kamille said, he could not help but burst into laughter. "Clingy? When did you learn that word?"

Rise laughed so infectiously that Kamille unconsciously ignored the fact that he was laughing at him. He only let the other lean at him as he laughed his heart out.

After he calmed down, Rise still did not move away, letting his head lean on Kamille. Since Kamille was not pushing him, why would he take the initiative?

"Hahhh, that was a good one." Rise exhaled, letting himself recover.

Silence ensued for a few moments. For some reason, Kamille did not interrogate him just as he expected.

"Guild Leader..."

"Hmm?"

Rise swallowed and then turned his head slightly, making eye contact with Kamille. It so happened that Kamille was already looking at him.

"What do you think of me as your Personal Guide?"

Any opportunity, he had to take it.
