In This Rebirth, The Male Lead Is Mine [BL] -
Chapter 157: Uncontrollable
Chapter 157: Uncontrollable
Rise stood there in silence, unable to make heads of anything. The scene in front of him shocked him greatly.
Was this real? Or was this an illusion?
Right, he finally remembered. Kamile and he entered a unique gate, and then he passed out. Was the gate they entered tricking him? These were all his dreams? But...
Rise shifted his attention again to where Kamille was; the cracks through his body were widening, while Rise’s body remained unblemished, appearing to be beaming with vitality.
Between the two, one would wonder who was truly dead.
Unable to look away, Rise could only watch such a useless endeavor, only hurting himself.
If... If this was real...
Did this mean... This is what happened after his death?
Rise paused, feeling that was so farfetched. The whole world was literally in flames; not just that, it was about to be destroyed. There was no way all of this happened just because he died... right?
He suddenly found himself unable to form any thoughts at that ridiculous notion.
There was no way... Or was it?
Rise stepped back, feeling dizzy. The world began to spin, or it was himself? No, that was not important. As he looked ahead to where Kamille and his body were, he found himself growing distant from them, not only to them but to the scene itself.
Until... There was black. Rise was standing in a space filled with darkness. He looked around, feet seemingly nailed down where he stood, unable to move. All he could do was roam his eyes around.
The space... Wasn’t this the place where that goddamn book was? Realizing this, his head snapped to the place where the books were always floating, shining brightly.
Huh? It wasn’t there.
Nothing was there; aside from darkness, there was only Rise.
What the hell was going on? Was this really a nightmare?
Where was his Guild Leader? What was happening? Where was he exactly?
A lot of questions popped up inside his head, finding him in such a tricky situation where he had no clue where to start or end.
Rise was like a statue, making him uncomfortable. He was starting to get uneasy. There was no way out, it seemed. He had to figure out where he was.
However, his mind kept coming back to what he witnessed. Whether that was real or a nightmare, he was still shaken by it.
It was not part of the plot, all of it. They were the last thing he expected to see, and more so, something he did not even imagine once.
Kamille... Epsilon... the world...
How come... It suddenly came to that?
Rise’s mind spun, thinking of any possible reasons for this. But before he could, he paused again. His body suddenly relaxed, finally able to move.
Eh?
His gaze landed on the ground, at the cracks that appeared. Instantly, light shone inside the dark space as it went through the gaps. It almost blinded him, forcing him to close his eyes.
And when he opened his eyes again, Rise was met by a pair of crimson pupils, looking at his anxious gaze. Rise blinked, unable to react for a moment, only looking at those eyes.
"You’re awake?" Kamille held his cheek, stroking it gently. "Rise, say something." Despite the soft touch, his voice was urging, uneasy.
"It might be real." Rise absentmindedly muttered, pupils, shaking as his breath hitched.
Fuck, it was real. He was sure of it. It really happened.
Kamille furrowed his brows, pinching Rise’s cheek. "What are you talking about?"
Rise did not mind him pinching his cheek as he immediately rose, pouncing into Kamille’s arms, who was startled but still embraced him.
"What’s with you? Have you gone silly?" Kamille stroked his back; without looking at him, Rise knew that his expression might have calmed down based on his tone and the way his body relaxed.
Rise bit his lips, hanging on Kamille’s neck like a spoiled baby. He burrowed his face into the crook of the other’s neck.
"Maybe," he responded, if only that were the case!
What the hell... Rise could feel his heart pounding so hard, which he was aware Kamille could feel as well. His mind repeated what he just witnessed.
Kamille...
Maybe... just maybe... Kamille ruined the world for him. No, he ruined the plot, and so the world got ruined. Rise had just experienced a destructive chase from the world when he interfered with what was already written in the book.
That was the fate of this world.
And with the scale of what he had witnessed, without being there in person, Rise could assume some things.
Kamille... Was it possible that he became aware and went out of the author’s control, hence the situation?
Rise blinked; he was just mindblown with what he was thinking or assuming.
He had to look at the man’s face! Kamille was looking at him in bewildered expression; the color of his eyes faded to that of light red. However, he seemed to see the full colored eyes still for a second.
Rise bit his lips and touched Kamille’s face, who was increasingly confused but still let him.
"Did your head get hit by the space turbulence?" Kamille touched Rise’s head but did not see any wounds or bumps.
Rise did not react to that, only staring at his Guild Leader. His hand then traced Kamille’s face through his neck. The cracks where he could remember were the most intense.
Seeing him not saying anything, Kamille’s expression turned serious.
"Rise," he called, and the crease between his brows deepened, confused by his behavior. "Tell me, is there something wrong?"
The urgency was once again tinged within his voice.
Rise finally decided to snap out of it. He did not want to worry him further.
He shook his head, tightening his hold. He could not let go! After what he witnessed, Rise was truly so emotional at this moment.
Kamille did not look convinced, especially as his eyes became hot, tears attempting to fall.
"Tell me," Kamille urges, more like commanded. "Is something wrong?"
His man was not playing anymore with that tone.
Rise lowered his gaze and slowly nodded, tears about to fall, but a finger wiped them before they truly streamed down his cheek.
Kamille sighed and embraced him tighter.
"What’s wrong?" He asked, calmer now, as if the commanding tone of earlier did not happen.
The problem was that Rise could not stop crying when he heard that tone! Like a child, tears began to fall uncontrollably, startling Kamille, who now began to wipe his cheek hastily.
"Why? Are you hurt? Rise, please tell me."
At such a tone, Rise could only cry harder. Truly, he did not want to just cry like this and only make Kamille so worried, but he could not stop himself. These tears just kept coming uncontrollably.
Rise shook his head repeatedly and sobbed harder.
He just realized...
He was too foolish. How could he doubt his Guild Leader? When he thought he was abandoned, to the fact that he thought his existence was forgotten with the arrival of Epsilon, Rise would be lying if he said he did not resent Kamille.
To the time he was alone, falling harder to the abyss, he once cursed Kamille. Kamille, who was so indifferent and heartless, exiling him as though he had never been there for him for years.
Kamille, whom he loved with all his heart, but only for him to break it to pieces. He hated him for that, resenting even himself for falling for such a person or even falling in love at all.
Rise thought they were destined, that their feelings were the same despite the wall sometimes between them. He was aware of Kamille’s care for him; if not, how would he tolerate him and his antics?
The intimate acts... They were real, and not just his delusion.
They were not lovers, but they acted like one. They also understood each other and were compatible, as if labels were never needed to define their status.
Yet, suddenly... he was... abandoned like that?
However, when he returned, he was always drawn to Kamille, wanting to make him his. And perhaps... try to make him fall harder and would never have the guts to abandon him again.
Then he witnessed that... Kamille... like everyone else, had to adhere to the plot. So, that was the case.
It was not that Rise failed to make Kamille his... The circumstance was what pulled them apart.
The plot... the author... Epsilon... damn them. All of them.
"Rise..." Kamille’s tone was soothing, stroking his back as he wiped the tears on Rise’s cheek, but to no avail. As though all the tears he did not release for years were surging at once.
Rise looked at his Guild Leader, wiping his cheek. He touched Kamille’s cheek and took a deep breath.
"Kamillle..." he called, ignoring the tears that kept on coming.
Kamille, who was about to say something paused at that. It was rare for Kamille to say his name. Last time it was at his request, and it was never repeated again.
Kamille’s Adam’s apple bobbed, and he stared through those eyes, which filled with tears, making him distressed.
"What..."
He had yet to finish when his lips were then claimed, Rise sucking at his lower lip, but before he could respond to the unexpected kiss, Rise pulled away.
Tears glistened on his eyes but a look of relieved smile lifted across his lips.
"I like you..." Rise bit his lips, and fresh tears flowed, cupping Kamille’s cheeks as he locked gaze with him. "I really like you, Kamille."
