Chapter 158: Heartbeat

It was not that Rise had not said that word I liked you before to Kamille. In reality, he had said that a lot that he almost thought that it might have annoyed Kamille already.

That was in the past, though. In this life, Rise had not said those words directly. More often than not, he just said some words that had double meaning, giving an impression of insincerity.

On his part, Rise did not want to make the same mistake once. He thought that his affection had overwhelmed Kamille, and he also wanted for the other to always think of him and his intentions.

For a while, he thought that this approach was the best and that all of this progress stemmed from this strategy, and that excessive telling of such words was more detrimental than helpful.

Kamille looked stunned, momentarily frozen. His eyes widened slightly, and his pupils shook from the sudden confession that both of them did not expect.

He blinked, looking at Rise with such fervent gaze, unable to contain the emotion this time. Kamille opened his mouth, about to say something, but then his lips were once again kissed; this time was no different, just more like a peck.

Kamille had yet to process that kiss when Rise pulled away, staring at him with those tear-stained eyes.

Rise bit his lips and caressed Kamille’s face again; affection and love were so overflowing that he could not contain it in his heart, so he had to show it.

He had to.

"I’ve liked you for a long time..." Rise smiled, wanting to let Kamille know that this was true; this was genuine feelings. This was not just brought by the moment. "...Kamille," Tears glimmered in his eyes, but the smile on his lips remained.

"Guild Leader... I’ve come to look for you from the start. My motive?" Rise leaned and pressed foreheads together as he closed his eyes. "It’s always been you."

These words sounded a little creepy from another perspective, but between the two, especially for Kamille, they were more than just a declaration of love.

Devotion and love.

Kamille’s heart began to race, pounding as though they wanted to escape his chest. Such emotions were truly rare, one that he would consider inconvenient and unnecessary to have, yet at this moment...

He welcomed these newfound emotions, accepting them as who he was.

His arm wrapped Rise’s waist and back so securely, tightening around him. Wanting to own him...

Kamille breathed and closed his eyes. Seconds later, he opened them again and pulled away slightly, wanting to see Rise’s face clearly. And wanting for the other to see his face as clearly.

For the reasons of such love, Kamille did not find that truly important now. In his eyes, there was only Rise and the pounding of his chest.

Possessive desire. Affection. Protective instinct.

All of those, he felt that for Rise. Was this love? He did not know for sure. However, if this was not love... What was it?

"I want you," Kamille uttered the words with utmost certainty, looking at Rise straight in the eye. His expression did not conceal the way his emotions were at such a peak at this moment; his gaze was too soft, but at the same time they were so intense.

Rise’s mouth parted but he did not say anything, only listening. Tears were still falling from his eyes. giving a rare sense of fragility.

"I want you, Rise... so much." Kamille did not know if his words were right, or if they truly were the extent of what he was feeling.

He never thought that thinking of the right words had been this hard before.

Kamille gently caressed Rise’s cheek; his fingers even only trailed at them as if afraid of hurting him.

Rise tilted his head to Kamille’s touch; the tears then fell on Kamille’s palm. He still did not say anything, waiting for Kamille to finish, wanting to listen more.

His heart was also pounding like crazy, the way Kamille’s heart was beating. As though their hearts were in such a rhythm, connecting their feelings together in a way that it was in the realm beyond what they could understand.

Kamille’s touch grew hotter, at least on the impression, just like his hot gaze filled with so many emotions. The man himself did not even expect he was capable of that.

"I want..." Kamille kissed Rise’s forehead as he instictively closed his eyes. "...need," He then kissed the space between Rise’s brows. "...long," His kiss then landed at the tip of Rise’s nose. "...crave," This time, he paused and stared at Rise.

Rise who was once again on the tears-falling spree. Savoring this moment, his heart overwhelmed, but in a good way.

Kamille’s gaze shone; they were always bright, but it was particularly dazzling today.

His thumb stroked Rise’s cheek, wiping the tears that landed on them.

"All of it... I feel it for you."

Rise’s lips trembled, especially so as Kamille leaned and kissed the tears that fell from his eyes. He nearly sobbed, clinging to the man like his life depended on it.

"I’m incapable of having human emotions; I just mimic and adapt them. I had to be human," Kamille revealed, sharing these little things about himself. Indirectly telling who he really was.

"Is this like? Tell me, is that the right word?" Kamille asked, wanting to be sure... or letting Rise know that he was truly incapable of determining such emotions.

Rise did not answer for a moment; his eyes were only fixated on Kamille, as if engraving this image in his memory.

Slowly, Rise touched the hand that was holding his cheek and landed a kiss on them, ardently kissing them.

"Words..." Rise smiled. "Like any other, they are just words."

Kamille’s gaze lingered, listening with such attention.

Rise could not help but let out a joyful laugh, giggling even. His heart was just so happy right now. He did not expect all of this, which made everything even more special.

A perfect moment... They did not need that. With the two of them together, everything would be a perfect moment.

"Guild Leader... No, Kamille..." Rise’s other hand went down from the other’s cheek until it stopped at Kamille’s heart, which was beating at the same rhythm as his. His smile widened at that. "What this feel... They are more important."

Rise leaned closer, just enough to see each other a little more closely. His smile beamed and then he held Kamille’s hand, which was on his cheek, and led it in his chest, wanting the other to also feel the beating of his heart.

Kamille visibly paused, his eyes shifted to Rise’s chest, feeling the same pounding of his chest. With that, both could feel each other’s beating hearts.

When Kamille returned his gaze to Rise’s eyes, their gazes automatically met. The same emotions seemed to shine on them.

"Can you feel that, Guild Leader?" Rise asked, almost whispering.

Kamille nodded his head.

Rise exhaled and finally pressed their foreheads together again.

"If your heart is beating like this for me, then... like me"

"I like you." Kamille was the one who finished the words for him. Giving an almost abrupt but well-fitting confession. After all, they were already leading this point.

They were actually just a formality at this point.

"My heart beats for you." Kamille then uttered again, more than the words like, these seemed more the right word he had been thinking of.

Rise suddenly let out a laugh; he did not know that Kamille was even capable of saying such sweet words, which he would think was cringy if it came from others’ mouths.

"Yes, I’m the same, Guild Leader."

He nodded and laughed harder when Kamille also gave a low chuckle. For some time, they released the emotions with a joyful laughter, making the whole ordeal seem like a play or something.

However, as their laughter subsided and the moment their eyes met, with their hearts still beating for each other...

Both leaned and took the initiative to press their lips together. It was a kiss that was expected but, at the same time, unexpected.

Their hearts and emotions met, leading them to this inevitable situation.

The kiss was like any other they did before, while it was the same intensity with some aggression as both of them wanted to convey their feelings through the kiss... It also has a special meaning to it this time.

This was not in the form of just a desire to kiss or be intimate. It was not in the excuse of a guiding session either.

Eventually, Rise parted his lips, letting Kamille invade his mouth with his tongue as both entangled and sucked with each other’s saliva. Tasting the sweetness of not just their lips but the feelings that accompanied it.

From the moment that Rise started, he would not stop.

Whatever the future was... the present was as important.

Kamille’s hand trailed on Rise’s back until Rise could feel his hand snaking inside his clothes.

Rise gasped as Kamille’s hand touched his bare back, fingers tracing the outline of his back. As soon as he gasped, Kamille took that opportunity to truly dominate the kiss, almost devouring his breath as his fingers ran along Rise’s back through his waist.
