Chapter 130: Arrived

Days passed, and Rise’s torture continued. He also wondered if Danich had forgotten his real purpose there, or maybe because the monster pet he had was already dead, so that purpose had also become void.

Rise had already forgotten the days; maybe he had already been there for months, but the time had already become blurred for him.

The smashing game continued, and so the starving session had also become a new torture, and Rise found that more effective, which Danich also figured out.

Danich did not always provide; he would always wait when Rise was already on the verge of breaking down before giving him another set of monster raw meat.

As days went by, Rise had already become accustomed to this routine. Not only wounds but also poison had already accumulated in his body.

Rise had already stopped wondering why he was not dying after all that. At first, he was always confused about this, but since he was still alive, he stopped thinking about it.

Maybe... Rise was not supposed to die yet? Otherwise, he had already died so many times.

"Your vitality surprised me greatly." Danich once also exclaimed, his eyes now filled with interest as he looked at Rise.

I know that. Rise rolled his eyes inside, but he only nudged at his lap quite affectionately, like a pet.

He had to do so; otherwise, this man would not give him food if he did not become obedient.

Rise was also surprised that while his mind would become chaotic once he became hungry, which was something he already had for years, his mentality did not change much.

He could still think more rationally and not fall in despair like others would have after being in such torturous confinement for probably months.

Sometimes, Rise wondered if having such a strong mentality was even good?

"Your special physique might be the reason," Danich spoke gently, but his hands were rough as usual, not stopping until Riise winced in pain.

Rise also timed that since he did not want to look like he was acting too much otherwise, he might have a few more days of starving sessions than necessary.

Danich’s eyes glinted. "Now, I’m curious."

Now, another game was added, experimenting with Rise’s special physique or whatever that was. Rise did not care; it was still painful torture, so it was not new.

Rise also began to think that he had somehow adapted a special ability, becoming more adaptable to pain—not totally immune to pain but not that bad.

He was also curious—what physique was he talking about exactly? Was it his abnormal vitality? If it was a game, maybe his HP was in the billions or even trillions.

Damn, he should have finished the game he stole from Alphen; that looked interesting.

"Weird... I can’t extract it." Danich mumbled, his hand then retreated. His confusion was then vented to another smashing game.

This was fucking unrealistic! Why couldn’t he die? It was as though... Rise truly could not die at all. Was he immortal?

Rise ignored Danich’s mumbling; he was after all a monster trapped in this so-called gate, his monster den. Heh, weren’t they in the same situation?

"Why?" Danich gripped Rise’s hair, his scalp tingled, but he did not twitch from pain as before. The man stared straight at him, perplexed about something.

Rise did not know what to answer, and he did not intend to respond.

"Human... You’re strange." Danich muttered once more. Rise almost rolled his eyes. That much was obvious. Rise was always strange; look, he could not even die for some fucking reason.

"Do you really not know?"

Rise almost spat out blood in his face again. He did not give a damn to know.

He was strange, okay? And that would not change the fact that he was confined here as a pet. His physique or whatever would not be able to help him and only made his vitality seem endless!

Seeing that he would not answer, Danich did not insist.

Days passed again, and the starving session began once more. Rise’s lips were too dry, not having drunk water for months.

He lay flat on the ground, looking blankly at the ceiling. Rise’s mind had yet to break down because of hunger, but soon he could feel it coming.

Rise had always been a loner, but at times like this, he realized the consequence of that. His disappearance might not be a big deal to a lot of people and probably a point of celebration.

Of course, the union must be looking for him; he meant the higher-ups, especially the Director, or more like with his belongings, maybe? He had so much dirt on him after all and would be a big scandal if let out.

What Rise could genuinely think of looking for him might be his team in the Special Department. Out of everyone in the Union, he got along well with them. At least, Alphen would definitely look for him since his favorite game was still with Rise.

As for Captain Nikolai, he would surely be notified by his imprinted partner, Yvez, of Rise’s disappearance.

He blinked and thought of those three. He only had a pitiful number of acquaintances. And oh... Mitchel was also part of them. Although that person was busy and might not have sought him out to recruit him yet, he would not notice that he disappeared.

Not that he hoped to be saved, though. Those people would not be able to beat Danich anyway. And they probably would become pets like him if they came.

Hungry...

Rise muttered weakly in his mind.

He was also in pain and hungry. Why could he not die? Seriously, Rise could not even kill himself since he was too weak to make such a big move.

A few hours passed and the hunger became apparent, his mind showing gaps. Rise then wandered his eyes around.

Where was that bastard owner of his? He was not here.

Ah... right. There would be a time that Danich could leave or something? However, it seemed that it was more accurately to say that the entrance of the gate could merge to the outside world for quite some time, expanding the gate’s size.

Rise coughed slightly; his blood now looked dark crimson, some poison already mixed with his own.

He licked his dry lips and groaned as hunger was almost hitting him.

As he was caught with his thoughts, the ground suddenly moved.

Huh? Earthquake? Rise was confused, and then he heard a scream—a confused shout at that.

"Who are you?"

That was Danich.

Slowly, Rise sat up, forcing him to. He then looked up, his brow furrowed.

In the cave, another person arrived.

Oh, his dark expression was prominent as he slowly glanced in Rise’s direction, ignoring the dumbfounded Danich. His expression turned darker seeing Rise.

Eh? Guild Leader Han?

Ah! Was he here to finally hunt Rise for provoking him?
