Chapter 128: Hunger
Chapter 128: Hunger
Rise could not laugh for long since he was too exhausted and the wounds had started acting up; his whole body was in tormenting pain. He fell silent and closed his eyes, waiting for his death.
He had been drained by that move. Rise had used all that the current him could do. Some of it also came from his desperation to kill that pet as a means of revenge, which was not easy and caused a lot from him, who was already critically injured.
For a while, he did not feel anything or hear anything besides the ringings in his ears. Perhaps, the man was busy mourning the loss of his monster.
Time passed. Rise was even beginning to show signs of drowsiness. He did not know how much time passed before finally hearing a rustling sound as the presence of the man became apparent again, standing beside him.
"You killed my pet."
Yeah, that I did. And it felt so fucking good. Rise only responds inwardly. The man did not seem to care about his lack of reaction.
Rise did notice that his voice did not sound as miserable as he expected.
"You have guts, human." The man gritted his teeth.
Rise smiled at that. That I am.
But then a sudden situation made his smile fade; his eyes even opened in surprise as he heard the man’s next words.
"Since you killed my precious pet... You have to replace it."
Huh? What? Rise almost exclaimed in bewilderment.
The man’s piercing gaze stared down at Rise, and soon he was now lifting him from the ground, holding his silver hair as usual.
"You’ll become my pet, human." The animalistic growl was soon heard as the man smiled maliciously. "You won’t die... for now."
This was not the plot twist that Rise was expecting. Fuck? Him as a pet? He was about to say something, but he could only hiss from pain as the man dragged him like a filthy sack; his body created friction at the messed-up ground he created.
There were all kinds of debris, making the already chaotic gate more disgusting to look at.
Rise could not move on at the thought of him being a pet of this psychopath. He had not even finished processing that yet as the man suddenly threw him at the side of the prison.
He could still not move and stayed limp as he lay down, unable to make sense of what was happening. Wasn’t he supposed to be dying now, so what was this situation?
The man only rummaged in his junk pile as Rise waited on what he was about to do. He was not even expecting the man would heal him, which was close to impossible.
And sure enough, he was not rummaging through his piles to look for medicine, but... As Rise looked at him, his lips could not help but twitch.
What the fuck, he was holding a collar and a leash. In no time, he was already putting it on Rise’s neck and even making sure it was tight enough that Rise could barely breathe.
This would be his torture; Rise had seen it coming.
The man looked down on him with a sharp glance; anger was evident in that gaze. Rise realized that while the man looked fine, the monster he had killed was important to this man.
Thinking of this, he only smiled, not showing his pain. This was all he could do... provoke this man enough to kill him.
"Just smile, human." The man slapped Rise and cupped his face so hard, it added to the intensity of his already bleeding face. "I’ll wait until you can’t."
In terms of provocations, the man was not falling behind.
His day as a pet... had only begun.
The man was not a good owner—that much Rise anticipated. He was a scum that Rise very much wanted to kill by his own hands.
As days passed, Rise was always thinking that dying was truly not scary, as he always wished for it.
The collar that was on his neck, while it made him unable to breathe, he was not suffocating to death yet. This was unrealistic at all! Although this collar was also an artifact, its only effect was to restrict his ability, as far as he could perceive from it.
Since he had this collar, Rise felt he had truly become a useless human.
Why? Why was he not dying? Rise screamed inwardly.
Another day, and another torture, or like smashing play?
Yes, it was as usual. Rise groaned as he felt his bone crack after being slammed to the ground yet again by the psychopath owner. He was beginning to get used to it even.
His wounds never healed since new ones were being created each day. What was more, his vitality was truly neverending, something Rise found so frustrating.
"You’re a good pet." The man stroked Rise’s bloodstained silver hair; it was not gentle though but rough, hurting his scalp.
Rise only glared and again spat out blood at his face. The man seemingly used to this as well only smiled, continuing his rough treatment.
"But still so disobedient."
As soon as he said that, Rise was once again succumbed to another painful thrashing.
When would this end?
And... Damn, he was so hungry.
Rise was too hungry; his mind was already failing him. And other than that... He had not showered for days. He was too dirty!
The point he was always scared of was now biting him at the same time.
More than the painful torture itself, he was more concerned about food and cleanliness.
Rise slumped at the foot of the throne, his gaze hollow as he looked up. His hunger was messing with his mind. And the fact that he had not eaten for weeks made him extremely anxious and breathless.
He wanted to eat. So bad. He hated hunger. Rise could even ear poison if he could.
Rise clenched his teeth and closed his eyes.
No... I... I can do it again. Rise once survived weeks of hunger himself... The feeling was too vivid still.
At first, he cried for help until he realized that no one would help him. The six-year-old Rise once almost died of starvation, and now, at 23, Rise found himself in the same situation.
"I’m hungry..." He sobbed just like he did when he was a child. "I want to eat." Rise for the first time... broke down.
The experience that plunged him into despair successfully returned.
