Chapter 126: Beat Up (1)

They really tricked him? How? No, how did they manage to make him enter a gate on his own accord? Rise could not imagine it yet.

He rubbed his chin and began recalling what happened. It was a bit difficult since he was not one to be attentive to what his current party was doing.

If he recalled, the group was having an incessant talk, as usual. What about the representative? He was lagging behind slightly, Rise, like he always did.

Rise’s impression was that he was a bit timid, but for some reason, he always tried to get along with him. Now, that this happened, it seemed he was doing that because of his malicious motives.

Now, fuck... He was going to kill them. For sure, just wait for him to leave this damn gate.

He then concentrated as he tried to recall what happened. What was that representative doing exactly?

Ah... He seemed to be thumping at the stone or something on the ground, or that might be the activation code, and since Rise was in front, he had no time to react before everything changed.

Before he knew it, he was already inside this gate.

Rise still could not figure out, though, how he did not feel any fluctuations at all! There was not any feeling of entering a gate either! He had been entering and exiting gates countless times, after all.

"No matter..." Rise grinds his teeth, eyes flashing fiercely. "I’ll just ask them before I kill them."

But first, he had to clear this damn gate.

Rise began taking his steps; they appeared to be heavy as the ground flattened as he stepped; the piles of corpses around were not spared either, they were also smashed to the ground.

He did not care at all, as he hastened.

Wait...

With each step he took, the deeper he went, Rise felt the goosebumps and cold sweat emerging, trying to overwhelm him. Right... Those bastards really tricked him into entering this gate of his own accord.

Which means... They wanted to trap him. And the gate should not be lower ranked either; it must be a higher ranked one!

This time, as he ran, his eyes were already brightening up with anticipation. He licked his lips; the blood coursing through his veins instantly made his body heat up.

He ignored the alarm bells going off since earlier. Rise was only excited about the prospects that he was already having to fight a worthy opponent!

He was a battle maniac through and through, disregarding his own life.

Along the way, he encounters different monsters, but they do not attack him; everyone is busy escaping! This alone proved that there was a far higher-ranked monster deeper in this gate!

This did not dampen his mood though, but instead, it even intensified it! Rise hastened his pace more.

At some point, he stopped. No, he could not move anymore. He stayed frozen where he stood, looking at the scene in front of him.

Rise could not help but gulp, his throat drying up. This kind of pressure was a first; he felt like his whole body was about to explode, if not for the natural barrier around him.

And that still would not reassure him much.

Before him, someone was sitting at the foot of a throne. He was stroking a huge beast at his foot; the ferocious-looking monster was acting like a pet at this moment.

He was mostly expressionless; however, he was gentle as he stroked the monster. The man’s appearance did not differ much from humans, only that he had two huge tauren horns in his head, and his body was as bulky as one too.

He was quite handsome, but his huge body was a bit unsettling to look at as per human aesthetics.

Rise heaved a breath. He could not move at all. Alarm bells were going off incessantly in his mind. His intuitions told him to escape as far as possible from this man.

Now, he had done it! Rise knew it was possible to die at this moment. Biting his lips, he chuckled while shaking his head. It was too late. Even if he could move, there was no way he would be able to escape.

This man... already knew of his presence.

Sure enough, as the man petted the monster, he slowly lifted his head, meeting Rise’s gaze.

"You really came." The man spoke in a calm manner, continuing to stroke the monster. His voice was so deep, the type that it was grating and unpleasant to the ears.

In a normal situation, Rise might be already responding and might even have made his fair share of provocations. This was not the case this time. He could not even move, much less speak.

All he could do was stare and listen as the man observed him. His gaze shone slightly, having a demon-like impression in such a crimson light.

"They did not lie. Your physique is truly special." The man’s gaze became heated, staring at Rise.

Confusion filled Rise. He swallowed and tried to speak; while it was painful, he did manage to do so.

"What... what did... you mean?" Rise was trailing off; his pronunciation was also not clear.

"So, you didn’t know." The man then leaned on his throne as he gave a small smile. Interest began to become apparent from his expression.

Rise only stared as if to say, Of course, I didn’t know.

The man licked his lips and smiled, somehow pleased the more he looked at Rise. The threat only lingered intensely in the air, pressuring Rise. In fact, the moment when the man spoke, the blood was already trickling down from his ears.

As the man spoke, the surrounding space was disturbed, as though it could not contain the overwhelming power that the man exuded. Cuts also began to appear on Rise’s skin, the pressure manifesting and tearing through the space.

If not for his natural barrier, his wounds would have been more intense, and he would have already collapsed on the ground.

"You have a unique ability."

Rise only frowned. He did not know about that. Was his forcefield that unique?

"What ability?" Rise had to be sure; maybe he really had a unique ability that he could use to defeat this man.

Again, the man let out a huff of pleased laughter as he stood up.

"You can calm a monster, I know." At this prospect, the man’s laughter only grew, as if he were truly delighted to encounter Rise.

Monster? Rise’s gaze landed on the huge beast. Was he talking about that monster? How could he calm that down... unless...

"Are you... talking about that monster?"

The man paused and looked at his pet, then he began to pet it again, not answering for a few seconds. Rise was pissed, but not like he could urge him.

"Not far off... since you’ll become his food." The man hooked his lips in a pleased smile, huffing a delightful laughter.

Food? Who? Him?

Rise looked at the monster... suddenly, his temple throbbed. Rise had never thought someone would dare... Think of him as mere food?

"Don’t insult me," Rise mumbled, emphasizing his tone. He stared straight at the man; he was feeling the danger. Yes, he knew; he was no match for the man.

However, that did not mean he was scared!

The madness seeped in as Rise exploded with strength; the surrounding ground was flattened to a few meters below, even affecting the space as well.

The monster, who was only leisurely taking its monster’s petting, was immediacy roused as it looked warily at Rise, standing in front of the man as though to protect him, which was absurd.

As Rise was about to attack, he suddenly found himself pressed on the ground, his head slightly buried on the ground. His ears started ringing as his blood soaked the ground. Rise hissed from the unexpected pain.

Before he could process that, Rise’s silver hair, which was now tainted with crimson, was lifted. His gaze met devilish ones; bloodlust was evident in his gaze.

"Brave human..." He huffed a laughter once more.

Rise spat out a mouthful of blood, splattering at the man’s cheek and dripping down his chin.

"Fu... Fuck you." Rise smirked, his gaze still steady, despite the impending loom and the pain he was feeling.

The man’s smile did not falter; instead, what he did only made it intense. The bloodlust also shone brightly.

Rise groaned as he found himself being plunged harshly to the ground once more. His head and body were smashed again and again. Rise could not even feel pain, or he might have gone numb.

Although the ringing in his ears increased, he could not hear anymore.

It was already a miracle that he did not faint after being beaten up like that. No, it might be more accurate to say that it was such a miracle that Rise was still alive after all that!

Rise was also weirded out at that; well, at least he was alive. Though it might not be for long.

Soon, the torment stopped. Rise also felt his hair lifted up. Rise did not open his eyes immediately, but he mouthed despite the painful experience he was going through.

"Fua... ackk..." Rise screamed, or more like shrieked, as soon as his body was thrown before hitting the wall. Rise cursed each and every ancestor this man had.

Rise was truly beaten up this time.
