In This Rebirth, The Male Lead Is Mine [BL] -
Chapter 114: Mission (2)
Chapter 114: Mission (2)
Rise’s eyelids twitched as he slowly opened his eyes; what greeted him was the ceiling. He blinked before instantly roaming his eyes around.
He frowned slightly before the memories quickly returned when he had become fully awake.
Did I just wake up now? How many days?
Rise pondered, but since he was the only one inside the room, he was unable to ask anyone.
"Where’s the Guild Leader?" Rise wondered. Hopefully, everything was still alright, and he did not sleep for too long.
As he pondered and was quite worried about this point, Rise began to examine himself and stretched his arms and also his legs. They were fine, and in fact, he did not feel any discomfort at all.
Rather than discomfort, Rise moved; his eyes shone.
"I’m feeling better," Rise exclaimed, amazed by this discovery. He also arched his neck and moved them, closing his eyes. Satisfaction filled his expression.
More than just feeling better, he was feeling great! It was like his body was suddenly cleansed from impurities and toxins, making his body extremely refreshed.
"It’s like being guided." Rise grasped this point. Obviously, he did not need to be guided, and being guided never felt this way; still, this feeling gave such an impression.
Maybe sleeping for days was his way of totally clearing all his mana toxins?
Rise thoughts of this for a while and marvel at the sudden comfortable feeling before he eventually shifted to a more important matter.
He removed the quilt from his body as he began to prepare to stand up. Rise wanted to know how many days he fell asleep and what was happening now; he also wanted to find his Guild Leader.
Just as he stood up and fixed his clothes, the sound of the door opening distracted him, prompting him to turn in the door’s direction.
In an instant, two gazes stared at each other. The newcomer was the one who reacted first, and a rather overreaction at that, causing Rise to roll his eyes.
"You’re awake?" The newcomer wore a startled expression, and he almost shouted these words as though seeing Rise awake was terrifying or something.
"Why? You’re not happy to see me awake?" Rise’s words had not grown gentle despite just being awake for a few minutes.
The man only moved his glasses, but with the way the lenses flashed with the light, Rise almost could hear his thoughts.
Rise could not help but laugh, seeing that familiar face of wanting to say something but holding back for his own safety. Hayes had always been a coward facing Rise, but he bickered the most with him.
He still did not know Hayes’ logic in that; he was scared but comfortable enough to bicker with him. He guesses that Hayes was probably aware that Rise would not do anything to him.
Seeing that Hayes had no intention to speak again, Rise decided to ask first.
"How many days have passed since I fell asleep?" Rise sat in the bed, his feet still rested on the ground. He planned to go outside and find Kamille, but since there was someone who could answer his questions, he did not find the urgency to go outside anymore.
Hayes did not answer immediately, but he adjusted his glasses again and exhaled; he seemed to be calming himself. Rise patiently waited for his response.
Stepping forward, Hayes entered the room further and sat at the seat by the bedside. "It’s been a week."
"A week?" Rise raised a brow. It was a bit off from his estimate, but it was not much of a worry, and he soon sighed with relief.
The worst-case scenario in his mind was two weeks or more; then he might not only worry but also lament for that waste of time.
"Where’s the Guild Leader? And the others? What happened after I fell asleep?" Rise continued asking, wanting to know what he had missed.
Hayes’ mouth parted slightly. "You..." He sighed and looked at Rise in the eye. "You just woke up and are already asking this much?" He helplessly shook his head.
Yet, he still answered, especially since he could see that Rise seemed fine as though he had not become unconscious for a week at all.
"The Guild Leader is currently in the meeting with the leader and elders of the Lionheart clan. While the others are also helping the clan clean up the monsters around the city."
Rise listened as Hayes began to tell what happened during the past week that Rise was asleep.
They did not know for sure what happened after Kamille and Rise left that day with the elders and Zenos, but when they returned, everything seemed to have become chaotic.
However, there was a kind of unsettling peace that hung in the air to the point that the party almost thought they needed to prepare to fight and escape the city.
In the end, nothing of that happened. After the elders were treated, they then stayed inside Rise’s room in the second floor of the villa, one where he was sleeping.
"I don’t know what they talk about; you can ask the Guild Leader about that."
Hayes was curious, but he was not privy to such things, and he also could feel the heavy weight that matter was involved. If his Guild Leader did not say anything about it, it was probably for his own good.
After they stayed inside for a whole day, everything seemed to become resolved somehow, although it might be temporarily. The Lionheart clan continued to treat them as special guests, and Zenos interacted with them amiably as before.
Hayes swallowed his saliva from being dried out after talking so much.
"Just yesterday, they had a meeting again."
"What happened?" Rise finally cut in this time. He already had a general idea of what was happening, and most of his worries were gone.
It seemed his Guild Leader remained lightheaded and calm. Phew, of course, Kamille would be calm; his last words before he fell asleep seemed more helpful than he thought.
This time, Hayes’ expression became slightly serious.
"It might be because of the upcoming monster wave and also... The tension between our world and the three nations is intensifying."
The mess at the human cities was actually not yet felt where they were, which was a secluded area and quite far from the chaos. From what Hayes could deduce from the stories that the elites of the Lionheart clan had talked about and shared with them, the clans or factions outside might not have participated in this mess at all.
At least the Lionheart clan would not. And Hayes also could tell that their Guild would not participate as well, or all of the top guilds for that matter.
When he heard this, Rise did not show any surprise, and his lack of reaction also came as expected for Hayes.
"So, it’s finally happening?" Rise only said that, appearing uninterested, which was the truth.
What was happening was inevitable; it must happen. Of course, with a twist... It might not end the same way as his past. He did not think deeply about this; that was yet none of his concern.
Well then, moving on. Rise looked playfully at Hayes and sweetly smiled.
Looking at that sweet yet poisonous smile, Hayes almost cupped his chest, brazening himself for what was about to come.
Rise found him hilarious and amusing. He did not smile like that to torture Hayes, though.
"Hayes, uh, no." Rise shook his head, his voice becoming gentle. "Vice Leader, can you bring me food? You see, I’m very hungry now."
In truth, he did not. However, Rise’s mind was uncomfortable to think that he had not eaten for a week, which in turn made him hungry in an instant.
Obviously, Hayes was both speechless and relieved with that.
It was only food. Rise was not about to play tricks with him; he was only asking for food. Processing this, Hayes readily agreed, and he left to fetch Rise’s request without any hesitation.
"A good potential slave," Rise smiled as he looked at the door where Hayes hesitated. Fortunately, Hayes did not hear that otherwise, his mood would plummet and so Rise’s food delivery would not come.
Finally, alone again, Rise stretched his limbs once more, stood up, and began moving his body. Sure enough, his body seemed to be in the best condition!
He continued for a few minutes when he heard the door again being opened. He looked at the door.
"Huh? Hayes is so fast?"
Could it be the food was already prepared and he would only deliver? However, that was on the premise that they knew he would wake up today, which was impossible.
When the door opened and the one who arrived came into full view, Rise visibly paused and stared at him for a few seconds. Then, as if on cue, he was already running to the arms of the newcomer and jumping on his prepared arms, which immediately wrapped securely around him.
Rise grinned and looked at the face he would never get used to and would forever admire.
"Guild Leader, I’m finally awake." He spoke as if expecting a warm welcome.
Like coming home to the arms of his beloved, he nestled into his arms.
Kamille breathed the familiar warmth as he nodded, tightening his arms around the sleeping beauty.
"Good morning." He greeted. with a warm expression.
