In This Rebirth, The Male Lead Is Mine [BL]
Chapter 115: Mission (3)

Chapter 115: Mission (3)

When Hayes arrived a few minutes later, Kamille and Rise were already by the bed, both sitting close to each other and talking in a light tone.

They had not actually delved into a much deeper conversation yet, and Kamille seemed to be taking Rise’s hunger into consideration. As it turned out, Rise’s joking guess about the food being prepared for him was true.

A couple of days ago, Kamille had begun to instruct Hayes about it, with the intuition that Rise would wake up around this time. Rise’s obsession with food was not a secret for Kamille or all the party members.

"Guild Leader," Hayes called respectfully when he saw Kamille, which only earned a nod. Rise did not even look at him and only had his eyes on the food.

Hayes felt bitter, but what could he do? He could only sort by asking for permission to leave. He certainly did not want to be a third wheel. During this time, Rise did not even notice his presence as he began munching down the foods the other prepared for him.

If Hayes knew this, he might be crying bitter tears, saying Rise never saw his efforts.

What could he do? It seemed at this moment that Rise would not be able to see anything other than food, which he missed for a week.

Unlike him, Rise would not forget Kamille, even how engrossed he was with food.

"Did you eat already, Guild Leader?" Rise still had his manners; he asked this after he swallowed the food in his mouth so as not to sound muffled.

Only for Kamille, though; if it was others, they were already fortunate to talk with him when he was eating, much less use table manners around them.

"Do you want some?" Kamille pointed to the dishes that piled up in front of him; at first glance, they seemed to be prepared for a couple or more people, but there was no doubt it was only for Rise, and it was not possible for him to finish it alone.

Kamille, who was then watching Rise eat calmly and look at the food, then shook his head.

"It’s fine, I already ate." Kamille knew that Rise was only asking this out of formality, as after he answered, Rise did not insist again and began eating happily.

The corners of his lips twitched; he already expected this, but... This still rendered him speechless. He sighed for only a moment, and he continued watching the other eat his fill.

His gaze softened as he did so. Seeing him like this, eating so satisfactorily, calmed Kamille’s nerves, which had been on edge these past few days.

"Haah, that’s so good." Rise smiled as he leaned on the headboard, stroking his stomach. He did look so satisfied, wearing a rare expression.

"Satisfied?" Even though it was obvious, Kamille still asked softly.

They both ignored just how Rise gobbled a three-person meal in one sitting. In Rise’s defense, it was after all a week’s worth of food, right? And it seemed to have fallen short still.

Rise nodded his head almost immediately as he licked his lips as if recalling the taste already, but truly he just felt the taste seemed familiar.

"Guild Leader, these foods... They taste like that lady’s dishes."

Yes, that elderly woman cook that they met when they roamed the city and even got a lifesaving item from him.

A small smile curled Kamille’s lips as he heard this. Perhaps because he actually expected for Rise to notice this, but also because he found it endearing just how Rise remembered the taste of foods like his tastebuds and never forgot them one bit after he tasted them once.

"She’s the one who cooked these foods," Kamille answered, watching Rise’s expression.

"She cooked these?" Rise sounded surprised and also looked like one, but more so, he looked pleased and happy.

Rise bit his lips and lowered his gaze, his cheeks heating up for some reason. He just felt... so happy; in fact, he could not even think of the right word for it.

This thing was simple for others, but for him, for Kamille to go as far to let the cook he praised from the bottom of his heart, Rise suddenly felt he was important and he cared for him.

Sometimes, these little things were what mattered and made one’s heart skip a beat for so many reasons. Rise was at that point; he was not easy to please, but for Kamille, he was always one.

And... Kamille just knew how to tug his heartstrings to the right places.

He exhaled and released his lips from biting it. "Guild Leader... Haah."

"What?"

Rise shook his head and chuckled as he looked into Kamille’s eyes with several emotions lingering in his gaze.

"Seriously, Guild Leader... I won’t be able to see myself without you anymore." Rise spoke in a low tone, wearing a playful smile, but he was serious.

Kamille obviously did not anticipate that; his eyes widened slightly but only for a second before his lips curved with a content smile.

"Good," he muttered, reaching out as he touched the corner of Rise’s lips and wiped them. His eyes seemingly wanted to say more, but his mouth never let them out.

And so they stared at each other, both with a mysterious yet meaningful smile. It was unknown if their thoughts were the same, but it was certainly about the person in front of them.

That was enough, no matter what it was.

This stalemate did not last long; after Kamille called for a servant to return the plates in the kitchen, the two were finally ready for a deeper conversation.

With no distractions and whatnot, Rise began to tell Kamille what happened to him, the same way that the other explained to him what happened about the past week.

What Rise could tell Kamille was limited, basically what he could only afford to reveal at this moment. He was aware of some things that he might yet take it once he already told them to the other party.

His rebirth had restrictions, or more like, this world had them.

"I met something after the magic circle was activated." Rise’s tone was a bit sour when he spoke the word magic circle, but he did not show it much. "It claimed to be a prophet."

Okay, he did not lie... only a bit. Since, after all, the book knew a lot, calling it a prophet seemed not far from the truth. When he decided to tell Kamille the gist of it, Rise already asked the book, and it said that Rise must have never spoken about its existence yet.

It did not mean he trusted its words too much, but that Rise trusted his intuition more. He also sensed a premonition that something might happen once he revealed the existence of a book; it might not be worse than the premonition of revealing everything to Kamille.

Kamille did not interrupt; his gaze focused on Rise, listening attentively to his words. Rise was aware that Kamille could tell he was not telling exactly the truth, but the other did not question it one bit.

Rise smiled at that. Kamille was smarter than he was, and the other most probably deduced that he more likely could not tell rather than he did not want to tell the full truth.

He fidgeted slightly at the quilt as he recalled, or accurately, cut the things he was able to reveal at this moment.

"As I said, I have a mission." Rise chuckled for some reason, "Not that I’m a hero or something like those novels? I’m not cut for being a hero, don’t you think, Guild Leader?"

Kamille neither agrees nor denies it, but the small amused smile on his lips already revealed his answer. Rise only laughed at that, he was never a hero, he wanted to clarify it this early.

Although he knew that Kamille also did not have such a hero complex, but it was better to be clear. And he would also make sure to clarify to those idiots outside after he talked to Kamille.

"So, it’s a general mission that’s tailor-made for me," Rise smirked, raising a brow mischievously. "Can you guess what it is, Guild Leader?"

Kamille paused and stared into Rise’s eyes. Letting out a low laugh, he answered. "Becoming a villain?"

Rise laughed harder at that; he leaned at the headboard as he continued to laugh. The other did not stop him, but instead fondness filled his expression, watching Rise laugh to his heart’s content.

He just loved hearing that from Kamille’s mouth. He was not offended, but instead, a kind of gratifying emotion filled him when he heard the word from Kamille.

Eventually, he stopped, but the playful smile lingered on his lips. He then moved towards Kamille, looking at him straight in the eye. His emotions seemed to shift, and so did the atmosphere.

"Guild Leader, if I became a villain..." Rise slowly muttered the words, trailing off slightly as though not as confident as he seemed. He licked his lips and continued. "Will you... accompany me to be one?"

Seducing the male lead to be a villain? Now, that was one hell of an upgrade.

Unlike his unconfident demeanor, Kamille did not even blink when he answered.

His voice was as natural as it could be.

"As villains, will our mission be to destroy the world?"

At that answer, for some reason, the serious atmosphere completely shattered. Rise was the first to laugh, and soon Kamille followed; both leaned at each other.

They laughed since this conversation seemed like what middle schoolers would say.

Rise then hung his arms around Kamille’s neck and smiled, "We don’t."

He shook his head; he did not want to destroy the world. Not really.

Kamille then wrapped his arms around Rise’s waist, drawing circles on them.

"Then, what’s our mission?" Kamille played along.

Rise also did the same; the two continued with the not-so-serious tone but definitely a serious topic, even if it did not seem to be one.

He leaned and whispered, as if afraid that others would hear.

"We’ll ruin it, then... we’ll change it."

That was the mission. Ruin the plot and then change it.
