I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 87: Compromise

Chapter 87: Compromise

Felix went out onto the porch a few minutes later, after calming Vivi down and placing her in the crib, wrapped in warm blankets.

"Alright. We can talk now," he said, in a much softer tone than earlier. It wasn’t intentional, nor was it caused by Kade - it was just a natural change caused by caring for his pup. Felix simply hasn’t switched from his parental mode to ’facing the Alpha I want to break the bond with’ mode yet.

"Yes, but... here?" Kade looked at Felix pitifully, rainwater pooling on the porch around him, dripping from his drenched clothes.

"Why not?" Felix just shrugged his shoulders. Standing with his back against the door, he could avoid the rain. As for Kade... "You’re already wet anyway."

"What if I get sick?"

"That’s your problem."

Werewolves had much better immunity than humans anyway, so a strong, young Alpha like Kade wouldn’t be hurt by a little rain.

"You’re really not going to invite me inside, so that I could get changed?" Kade pouted his lips, but Felix was unmoved.

"I don’t have anything for you to change into," he pointed out. After all, Kade was a whole ten inches taller, and muscular, while Felix had a slender build... There was no way the Alpha could possibly fit into his clothes.

And Kade knew that as well, but he already had a solution in mind. "I could always just wrap myself in a blanket as we wash and dry my clothes..."

"As if!" Felix would have jumped back, as far away from the Alpha as possible, if it weren’t for the closed door right behind him. Have Kade, butt naked and only covered with a blanket in his house? That was a disaster waiting to happen! Even with no rut or heat to stimulate them, the pull of their bond might be enough to influence them to do something they shouldn’t... Well, nothing too bad, probably, since Remi was at home, but still!

Seeing how defensive and flighty the Omega had gotten, Kade immediately backed out. "Ah, alright, I understand..." he said, still acting pitifully, but not pressing any further.

"Good," Felix exhaled, rubbing his furrowed brows. "Now get to the point. You don’t want to get sick, no?"

"...Right. First, the flowers..." Kade pushed the bouquet toward the Omega, but Felix only gave it an unsure glance. What was he supposed to do with such a soggy bouquet? It was already ruined! On Kade’s own accord!

And Kade also knew that. Still, that didn’t stop him from putting on a show by making the saddest, most pitiful expression he could possibly muster, and placing the flowers down on the side of the porch. "If you change your mind... They will be right here waiting for you..."

Ah, for Goddess’ sake...’ Felix couldn’t help but sigh, as his heart skipped a beat again. It was... unavoidable. A natural reaction. After all, while he might have gotten somehow used to Kade’s infuriatingly handsome face, he was rather unaccustomed to seeing the Alpha’s perfectly sculpted torso, with all the powerful muscles moving as he bent down and then straightened up again...

Of course, even if he couldn’t remain entirely unaffected by his beauty, that didn’t mean he was going to soften up! He just crossed his arms, and waited for Kade to finally state the purpose of his visit.

And he eventually did. "I gave a lot of thought to what you had said the last time," Kade spoke slowly, staring intently into Felix’s eyes, in a way that made the Omega a bit flustered. "And I have a few questions for you."

"...Go on."

"If we were to break our bond, and you fell for me later, would you not regret it?"

"...Huh?" Felix blinked, surprised by Kade’s words. That was his first question? Really?

To begin with, it was a stupid thing to ask. If they broke their bond, then everything between them would end, and they would go their separate ways. There wouldn’t be much of an opportunity for Felix to fall in love. And even if he did end up missing the annoying Alpha for some reason... He would get over it. It wouldn’t be the first time his crush didn’t work out, he had experience.

So, he nodded his head. "I won’t regret it, no matter what."

"...You’re certain about it?"

"Yes."

"Alright, I get it..." Kade sighed, brushing his wet hair back. Which looked much sexier than it had any business doing. "Then... If we broke our bond, would you give me a chance?"

"...A chance to do what?" Felix asked stupidly.

"A chance to court you."

Did Felix just think Kade’s first question was stupid a moment ago? He would like to take that back now, thank you very much. Compared to what he had heard just now, the first question wasn’t all that dumb!

"And why would you do that? We wouldn’t be fated mates anymore."

"Well, if you prefer, I can just keep on chasing after you now, while we are still connected by the bond!"

"No, thank you," Felix rubbed his forehead again. "I’ve already told you that with the bond, I can’t trust your..."

"...Sincerity," Kade finished the sentence. "Yes, yes, I know. That’s why I’m offering an alternative solution!"

Alternative solution? More like saying that he was going to chase after Felix no matter what!

"But why?" Felix asked bluntly.

"Because I like you. Yes, yes, you think it’s just because of the bond," Kade quickly added, seeing as Felix had already opened his mouth to argue. "But I think otherwise. I’m genuinely fond of you."

Felix didn’t say anything to that. To be honest, he didn’t even have any idea as to what to say.

With the Omega not arguing back, Kade took it as a green light to continue explaining his idea. "I don’t want to give up on you, while you say you can’t trust me, or even yourself, right now. So I thought, why not compromise? We... break our bond, then take a break, and start anew after a while. What do you say?"
