I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 86: Drenched

Chapter 86: Drenched

The weather was bad from the morning, the sky overcast and dark. A shower after shower passed through Silverfall, with hardly any clear window between them. It was only in the afternoon that the rain had ceased, the clouds dispersing a bit... Felix immediately took advantage of it, putting Vivi in a pram, and going out to get some fresh air and buy groceries.

But the change in the weather didn’t last long. Before Felix even reached the supermarket, the clouds obscured the sky again, and the rain descended, much heavier than before.

It was still raining when he finished his shopping and left the supermarket. Felix unfolded the umbrella he had brought, just in case, but it couldn’t fully protect him from getting wet when it rained so much... Luckily, at least the pram had a reliable rain cover, so his pup was fine. He hated to admit it, but it was a good thing he accepted Fen’s generosity. He had seen the photos of the pram that Eden’s friend had for sale, and it was nowhere as nice...

Although whether he would think the same way in the future, when it was time for him to pay the debt, remained to be seen. The costs of the baby things alone Felix could handle, but the potential interest the two Alphas might want to collect...

Alas, there was no point worrying so much in advance. Holding up the umbrella, Felix pushed the pram with one hand, quickly walking back home...

He was still a fair distance away when he had sensed it, his steps immediately faltering.

Kade’s presence. Judging by the direction... The Alpha should be around Felix’s house.

Well.

Felix took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly, and resumed walking. There was no reason for him to try avoiding Kade. It was a pointless endeavor to begin it, not to mention... They couldn’t end their bond without meeting. So, Felix had to face him, even if he felt somewhat uneasy about it.

However, once he reached his street, and his house came into view, he couldn’t help but stop again. There was a lonely figure standing right in front of his gate, the rain pouring onto him relentlessly...

Kade.

He just stood there with his head lowered, completely drenched. There was not a single dry thread on him, his white shirt clinging to his skin... A picture of pitifulness. He didn’t even have an umbrella to shield himself from the rain...

Except!

His car was still there. Just a few steps behind him. No longer right in front of Felix’s house, but re-parked a bit further away, perhaps so as not to ruin this ’heartbreaking’ image with the obvious shelter the Alpha could have taken as he waited for Felix’s return.

There was still Felix’s porch, though. While it wasn’t completely repaired just yet - Felix focused on improving the inside of the house first, in preparation to welcome his pup - it could still save Kade from getting completely drenched.

And why wasn’t he wearing his jacket and vest? Although it was technically summer, it was still rather cold, especially on a rainy day like that. Besides, Kade had always worn full three-piece suits before, even when the weather was warmer. Without the top layers, now that his shirt got soaked, it revealed his perfectly sculpted torso...

Or was that the point?

Then what was the Alpha even aiming for, was he trying to look pathetic or hot? It was a ridiculous combination...

And yet, Kade somehow succeeded at both.

Not that Felix was going to soften and change his mind because of any of that. If he were such a sucker for good looks, then he would have submitted to Kade right from the start! But he could still resist the Alpha’s attractiveness, even when those mouthwatering, toned muscles were put on display, clearly visible under the wet white shirt...

Gulping loudly, Felix closed his eyes, and slapped himself mentally. It didn’t matter if Kade was hot! Good looks weren’t what mattered the most in a potential mate! And Felix wasn’t even looking for a mate!

He quickly repeated all the reasons why he absolutely COULDN’T surrender to Kade in his mind, which helped clear up his head. When he finally approached Kade, he was completely calm and emotionless (at least on the surface).

"What are you doing here?" he asked, keeping his tone sharp as a mental self-defense.

Kade lifted his head, and gave Felix a sad smile. "Hi... I came to talk to you about what we discussed the last time... I brought you flowers," he said, lifting a bouquet of red roses. "Unfortunately, it got ruined in the rain..."

Felix glanced at the drenched roses, then at the car that stood not far away. There was an easy way to ensure the bouquet’s survival, it was just Kade had refused to do it. All so that he could stand in the rain with the flowers, all sad and pathetic. After all, what was one rose bouquet for him? He could easily buy Felix many more of them!

Not that Felix wanted him to. Flowers were pretty, but they withered fast. Even when they were not mistreated by getting exposed to bad weather.

"There was no need for you to bother," he sighed, not bothering to comment on Kade’s performance. "You..."

As he lifted his eyes to look at Kade, Felix once again couldn’t help but pause, his heart skipping a beat...

It was quite a stunning view, he had to admit it. Kade’s face was incredibly handsome on a normal day, and seeing him now, with his black hair clinging to his forehead, raindrops trickling down his cheeks, his chiseled jaw and strong neck, and pooling in the dip of his collarbones... It was a whole other experience. Why did this annoying Alpha have to look so good?

And he knew about it, which was why he remained quiet, letting Felix stare to his heart’s content. Teasing the Omega about it would only result in the charm of the moment dissipating, and Felix’s gaze would turn cold and dry again...

Nothing could last forever though, and their moment was eventually broken by Vivi, who woke up and started crying. Her voice instantly snapped Felix out of his daze, and he pushed the gate open, going into his house.

"Give me a moment," he said to Kade, and closed the door.

The Alpha was already completely drenched - on his own accord! - so staying outside for a little longer surely wouldn’t make much difference!
