I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 85: Temporary Discomfort

Chapter 85: Temporary Discomfort

Kade’s exit left an invisible hole in the house. A black hole, that seemed to swallow all of Felix’s thoughts and feelings. He just sat on the chair, staring blankly at the table. Kade walked out of the door, and drove away, Felix could feel that through their mate bond...

Their fated mate bond that still remained intact, exactly the same way as it was before.

Felix... had failed again.

It was only when Remi had crawled out from underneath the couch, and approached Felix, jumping onto his lap and snuggling to his chest, licking his neck and cheek, and spreading his jasmine scent to console him, that Felix finally snapped out of it. He let out a heavy sigh, and hugged the fox, burying his face in the soft, warm, fragrant fur.

It was too early to give up. Kade had left without breaking the bond now, but perhaps, once he gave it more thought... he’d finally understand that it would be better to end things here. They might have been both still young, but that didn’t mean the heir to a supreme pack could waste so much time chasing after a random rogue Omega!

Then, once their bond was gone, and they were apart for long enough... All the remaining feelings and emotions would fade. Kade would realize just how nonsensical this match was, and he’d find himself a new mate, chosen or fated, who would suit him much better, and would be fit to become the Luna of the Bloodmoon Pack in the future...

...To be completely honest, Felix didn’t like that thought at all. Even though that was what he supposedly wanted, according to his words. But that was... just a temporary discomfort, caused by the bond. Plus the fact that Kade was infuriatingly attractive and handsome. And also, annoying as he was with all the ridiculous things that came out of his mouth all the time, Felix got somewhat accustomed to his presence... So, you could say it was just a habit, a familiarity. Like a tree growing on your neighbor’s lot, that reached its branches over your backyard, leaving you with a lot of leaves to clean every fall. You complained about it each time, annoyed about the extra work... But if one day it were gone, you’d suddenly realize you missed the shade it gave you during the hot summer days...

But that was just it. After a while, you would get used to its absence, and eventually it would be nothing more than just a distant memory. Just as you once unwillingly got used to its presence, you would get used to its absence as well. Your life would go on as normal...

And so would Felix’s. He had his daughter to care for, he’d hardly have time to think about some handsome Alpha that once bothered him for a while.

As long as Kade came to his senses, everything should be okay.

Letting out a sigh, Felix dragged himself up from his chair, still holding Remi in his arms. His wolf remained oddly silent, not whining as it usually did. Whether it was because it was sulking, or maybe it finally understood just how serious things were and stopped being a nuisance, Felix didn’t know, but it didn’t matter. Once it was able to sense the pup, it would undoubtedly return to normal.

"Come, let’s go pick up Vivi," he said to Remi, putting the fox down so that he could put on his shoes. Although he felt a bit uneasy, not knowing when Kade might return... He didn’t want to leave his daughter overnight anywhere. He didn’t want to part with her at all, in fact. She was still only two weeks old... Not to mention, Felix had to especially value this time. Because as soon as she grew up big enough to be admitted to the nursery, Felix would have to leave her there, so that he could return to work... After all, Vivi needed his presence, but they also needed money to live well.

Felix tied his shoes and put on a light jacket - it was already late, and the nights in Silverfall tended to be rather cold, even during the summer - before opening the door...

And he immediately stopped in place, looking ahead, completely stunned.

Kade’s car was still there, parked in front of Felix’s house.

For a moment he thought that perhaps the Alpha didn’t leave at all. Felix had been distracted back then, so perhaps he remembered it wrong.

But the car was empty. And as he stepped onto the porch, Felix soon noticed Kade’s suit.

Or, well, what still remained of it. Just a sad scraps of expensive material, and a pair of shiny black leather shoes.

Kade had shifted into his wolf form, it seemed, and had run off, leaving his car behind. Which made Felix even more uneasy - if his car was still here, there was a chance he would return to pick it up... Unless he sent Fen or one of the guards, as they were all still in Silverfall. That would be preferable, since Felix didn’t really want to see the Alpha right now...

Unless he came to break their bond, of course. Then, yes, of course, he would be more than welcome.

But no one came in the end. When Felix returned with Vivi, wrapped tightly in blankets in her pram (the pram Fen had paid for, which made Felix particularly uncomfortable right now), the car was still in front of the house. The sad remains of the clothes had disappeared, together with the contents of the pockets, but the car remained. It was there when he went to bed, and when he got up the next morning...

And the next day as well.

And the one after that...

It stood abandoned on the side of the street, right in front of Felix’s house, for days, gathering dust, while the Omega didn’t see so much as a shadow of Kade, or anyone from the Bloodmoon Pack. It was only because of the connection that still remained between them, as strong as ever, that Felix knew the Alpha was still in town.

It wasn’t until a certain rainy afternoon almost two weeks later that their paths crossed again...
