I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL] -
Chapter 61: Founders Keepers
Chapter 61: Founders Keepers
"O-oh..." Elsie fiddled with her hands, shifting her weight from one foot to another, her gaze wandering from Caelan to Kade and back. Although she knew that her bunny wasn’t on the ground floor, she couldn’t exactly admit it in front of the two men! She had no choice but to nod her head and mutter a quiet "Thank you," before running off.
Kade followed her with his eyes until she disappeared on the staircase, and only once her steps had moved far away, did he turn to Caelan. "What are you doing here?"
"Hmm?" Caelan - or Cael, as he was called by most - tilted his head, smiling wickedly. "The same thing as everyone?"
But Kade only scoffed in response, not buying it. "Right. Don’t you think I already have enough to deal with?"
"Hahah." Cael chuckled, dropping the act, and let go of Kade’s shoulder, taking a step back. "Well, what do you expect? You’re hardly at the pack these days, and the mating season is fast approaching, so they are all getting desperate!"
"Ugh..."
"Just endure it a little longer. Once you..." Cale paused, focusing his senses, and once he confirmed that there was no one around, he finished in a hushed voice, "Once you bring your fated mate to the pack, they will have no choice but to back down."
Right. All this trouble was because everyone believed that Kade was unmated. Only his parents and a few most trusted friends and subordinates knew that he had already found his fated mate, and was determined to make it work. And until he was able to bring Felix to the pack, it had to remain a secret.
After all, while his position as the heir was secure, that didn’t mean that there weren’t any werewolves scheming against him. Then there were also those who wanted to be on his side a little too much by becoming Kade’s Luna, or turning their offspring into one, no matter the costs. Both those groups posed a threat to his cute little mate, who was alone in Silverfall, with only two guards and a fox (and a witch, perhaps?) to watch over him.
Honestly, Kade wanted to just grab this shorty under his arm, and drag him to the pack house... But it could backfire. No, with how much his little mate seemed to value his independence, it surely would!
"So, just focus on buttering him up. I’ll try to hold the Omegas in check," Cael reassured, pushing Kade toward his room. "Now, go, before more of them appear!"
As if on clue, the rushed footsteps started going up the stairs, fast approaching. Lyla, judging by the scent of green tea.
"See you later, then!" Kade nodded at his friend, and quickly dipped into his room, locking the door. Not that anyone would dare to barge in...
No, wait, perhaps they might. As shown by the bunny that poked his head from under the bed.
"Felix?" Kade called softly.
And the bunny wiggled his nose, before hopping his way.
"Pfft!" Kade had to press his lips tightly to suppress the chuckle, not wanting the Omegas drifting through the hallways like hungry (or thirsty) ghosts to hear. Then, he crouched down, and picked up the furry creature. The color didn’t match - the bunny was white, not golden brown - and the temperament was also not quite right, but it was cute nonetheless.
"Well, founders keepers, right?" he muttered, carrying Felix the bunny to the bed with him.
Elsie would just have to deal with this self-induced loss. After all, Kade couldn’t just allow for anyone else in his pack to have ’Felix’ for a pet!

The next morning wasn’t any less busy. Although, thanks to the fact that it was MORNING, and most of the people were up and bustling around, any seduction attempts were far more subtle. No flashing, no skimpy clothes, no (trying) to fall into his arms, and no ridiculous requests that Kade shouldn’t have to deal with!
Because in the end, all things considered, all those Omegas had to keep their reputation in mind. Whether they were to become Kade’s Luna or have to look for a different mate, they couldn’t afford to be seen behaving improperly (by anyone other than Kade)!
So, with all the attempted assaults on his purity tuned down, he managed to get through the morning without any major incidents. He washed up, got dressed, checked whether there was any response from the lab, had breakfast, and headed over to the office building to make his reports regarding his recent mission, as well as his future plans. It all took much longer than it should, but eventually, he arrived at the pack leader’s office door.
"Hi, dad," he said, stepping in as soon as an answer to his knocking came from inside. "How are you feeling?"
The leader of the Bloodmoon Pack, Einar Blackstone, lifted his eyes from the piles of documents and reports overflowing his desk. He looked almost like an older copy of Kade, except that the shape of his mouth was different. "I would feel better if you brought your mate back home."
"I’m doing everything I can!"
"Tell that to your mother," Einar sighed, setting the papers aside. "Sit down now."
Kade took a seat opposite his father, his eyes scanning the older Alpha’s face and hands carefully, assessing his condition. Skin a bit too pale. A hint of shadows under the eyes. A slight tremble of the hands. Lips a tad dry and chapped... Not exactly a picture of health, but still, an improvement. It could easily pass as just tiredness from overwork. He nodded to himself and exhaled softly with relief, before moving on straight to the most important thing he had on his mind.
"That’s what I actually wanted to discuss with you today. In order to pursue my mate well, I would like to visit the Moonhill Pack."
"His former pack?" Einar narrowed his eyes, staring intently at his son. "Visit them to do what?"
"Nothing much, just gather some information..."
At least for now, but Kade skipped that part.
"As to how I would like to explain my visit," he continued before his father had a chance to ask any questions, "I would like to use the fact that we had recently made marriage ties with the Ironcoat Pack to..."
