I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]
Chapter 62: Salty

Chapter 62: Salty

Meanwhile, back in Silverfall, Felix’s life slowly moved on, calmly and peacefully. He got up, made breakfast, feeling a bit regretful that he couldn’t drink coffee, as he didn’t sleep all that well. It was all because in order to fall asleep, he used the tickle technique on Remi to stop him from being so clingy...

Only to find out that he got so used to Remi’s body heat and scent that he now couldn’t get a good night’s rest without the fox in his bed!

Aside from that minor issue, he was feeling great. The video he had on his phone of his daughter especially lifted his mood! She was so cute that Felix couldn’t help but look at it over and over again.

And, as proud new parents (or parents-to-be, in Felix’s case) often had a tendency to do so, he couldn’t help but share it with anyone willing to spare a glance as soon as he arrived at work. His pregnancy was not a secret anymore, after all, everyone could tell, so there was no reason for him to hold back!

"So, it’s a girl?" Eden asked, looking at the screen as he tied his apron and fixed the cuffs of his shirt. "She’s so cute!"

"Cute?" Isla scoffed, cutting in unasked. "As if! That’s the ugliest baby I’ve ever seen!"

The two Omegas exchanged glances, after which Eden leaned closer, and said in a theatrical whisper, "Don’t mind her. She’s just salty because she heard you went on a date with that ’rich hottie’ yesterday!"

Naturally, Isla heard every word. She instantly flared up, getting defensive. "I am not!"

"Riiight." Eden lifted his brows, giving the girl a pointed look. "That’s why yesterday you were complaining the whole afternoon that you can’t find yourself a good man, while some others are getting the best catches even when pregnant!"

"This... I mean... Hmph!" Isla harrumphed, turning away, and sprayed a generous amount of deodorant with a strong floral fragrance, before storming out of the staff room.

And leaving Felix and Eden coughing and pinching their noses. Such a scent attack was deadly even for humans, let alone werewolves!

"Just ignore her," Eden said, once the scented clouds had dissipated enough for them to be able to catch their breaths. "She’s just jelly, that’s all. She’ll get over it in a few days. And your pup is very cute."

"Mn. I know." Felix nodded his head in response. Whether Isla was jealous or not, he didn’t really care. He had no intention of arguing about it or anything. For him, Vivi was the cutest, and that was all that mattered. The opinion of others was insignificant.

"Speaking of which," Eden’s eyes narrowed, and he closed the door to the staff room, lowering his voice so that they wouldn’t be heard. "What’s up with you? Are you and Kade Blackstone together, after all?"

"Of course we’re not!" Felix immediately denied, but Eden was not convinced.

"Then why is he still coming to see you? He knows you’re pregnant with someone else, right?"

"How could he not know? It’s kind of obvious now that my belly is so big! And I can’t be pregnant with him, since nothing ever happened between us."

"Well, it’s good that he knows... But that still doesn’t answer my question. You know, that ultrasound of yours... Where did you get that done?"

"Uh, at the hospital..."

"Our hospital doesn’t have such equipment. They can only do that plain black and white ultrasound."

"Okay, fine," Felix sighed, finally conceding a bit. While he was not obligated to explain anything to Eden, he didn’t want to end the conversation like that. It would only lead to the Omega creating some unbelievable (or, well, probably fairly accurate) conclusions in his head. "Kade brought a doctor and equipment from his pack."

"Oh? He’s still courting you, then?"

"He doesn’t. It’s just that..." Felix paused, hesitating for a moment. "He’s just repaying me for a favor, that’s all."

"A favor? Is it with the mermaid?"

"Ugh..." Seeing the sparks in Eden’s eyes, Felix unconsciously took a step back. He had thought that mentioning the ’favor’ would be better than explaining about their mate bond, but perhaps he was wrong. Eden liked gossip, after all, as long as the witch wasn’t concerned.

Ah, right.’ The corners of Felix’s mouth lifted slightly. "Well, it’s related to that. It’s thanks to the witch’s help that I was able to get what he needed..."

As expected, Eden’s expression instantly fell, and he fumbled over his stuff, as he muttered, "Ah, that’s great. Good for you, then. I have to go now, cause, uh, work," before quickly making his escape.

Even though they still had some time left before they were expected to start with their work.

Felix couldn’t help but smile to himself with satisfaction. Too bad the same method wouldn’t work on Kade!

But, oh well. There was no need to stress over it for now, so Felix shrugged it off, finished getting changed, and went over to the kitchen to start on his morning tasks. He had now been provided a chair, a courtesy of his boss, so that he didn’t have to stay on his feet the whole day. Surprisingly considerate for someone who didn’t have to do anything for him, and could have easily thrown him out the moment he realized Felix would have to go on a prolonged leave - Felix was not a legally employed worker, after all, with his lack of any documentation. The boss could treat him however he wanted, and Felix wouldn’t have been able to do anything about it...

The more time passed, the more Felix realized just how lucky he was. From managing to get safely to Silverfall, then with the cheap house he had found right away, meeting Eden and getting the job in Crossroads, and finally, establishing his connection with the witch.

Perhaps that name of his finally started to do its work?

If only his mother could see him now...
