Chapter 57: The Desert Dragons
Chapter 57: The Desert Dragons
They stared at him in shock. He was seated, with steeze and aura, on a very large brown dragon. His hands was in the air and with a loud voice he said to them:
" I am not dead, I’m alive and breathing well!".
A gust of wind accompanied him up, surging and coming with great speed.
The dragon’s skin looked like it was made of leather, seemingly woven intricately. Its stare was golden and Ash seemed to catch a twinkle in it. It struck him that this was a...
DESERT DRAGON!
’Impressive,’ Ash whispered, breathing in and out.
Rhett’s body was dusty, like he had bathed in a long slope of sand. His air was ruffled and looked scattered and unkept.
Rhett was now wondering what occurred when Rhett fell down the middle of the earth that split.
Rhett steered the dragon upwards, holding its neck to do so. When he had taken him upwards, he pinched it slightly and it breathed dust from its mouth, like a spree it fell on the dragon slayers and they used their hands to cover their faces and heads, some giggling, some murmuring.
"You’re alive!," Ash cried to the skies. "You’re f**kin alive!".
"Of course I am", Rhett said. "The King of the dragon slayers can never die, I will not die!"
He tilted the dragon to the left and then to the right and then swerved it downwards, the dragon’s large massive wings falling down with a loud THUD!
The wind exploded therein and scattered the dust on the ground onto the dragon slayers faces.
Rhett squinted his eyes and held his breath, so as to not allow the dusts go into his lungs.
The dust slowly cleared now and Ash ran over to Rhett, embracing him with a hug. Coming out of it he looked at Rhett’s face and asked:
"Only one dragon?, I thought the old knight said there would be many".
Rhett smiled and before he could reply to the question, there was a surge of the wind, it came like a torrent, rapid in speed.
They all looked backwards in unison and their eyes met dragons, brown dragons, with large wings, large massive wings that drew the air closer to them and pushed it ferociously like biffs onto their faces.
Rhett squinted his eyes, almost closing them. The act prevented dust from entering it and it seemed to work just fine.
There were about eight dragons, large, seeming like one of them would size up to five people which by the nodding of his head sideways slightly, Ash agreed that they ought to.
They all looked at the blissful sight, they all expecting the dragons to land by their side. Instead, they plunged forward, farther away from them. Rhett looked stupefied.
"Why-, why-, why are they doing like that?", Rhett asked, appalled.
"Seems we have to control them!", Ash shouted.
"Control?", Rhett asked. "Shit!".
"Who has the skill of controlling them?", Ash asked, looking at the dragon going farther away from them.
The old knight stepped forward, stroking his dark beards. Ash stared at him, finding his characteristics kinky. He kept wondering, why was his beard black when when he was an old man, he accepted it to be grey.
"I will control them!", he shouted, raising his hands up.
Rhett looked disoriented and he simply nodded:
"Go on!".
That had no other way of controlling the dragon back and this old knight saying he had, they had to give him a chance, not that they had a choice.
The old knight started to hit his hands on the floor, hardly.
THUD!
THUD!
THUD!
Then he warned with a loud voice:
"The ground might split just so you know!".
"What the-", Ash said.
A gust of wind came from the south, plunging into their direction. It came with such ferocious nature, it seemed like a whirlwind.
Dhamsel, standing in the middle of the many dragon slayers, looked up ahead in surprise.
"We’ll all die!", she shouted, terror in her voice. "We will all die!".
The gust of wind and dust dashed past them and blew after the dragon, Haicor walked over to Rhett now holding his hands very tight, Rhett thought she might break his bones.
The wind caught the wings of the dragons and it recklessly pulled them over to their direction.
Ash looked at the old knight:
"So it’s likely the dragons will fall here?".
The old knight shrugged. "It seems like it".
"Damn your tongue!", Ash shouted at him.
The dragons were coming at them at full speed now. The wind was controlling them and they had no actual control of their bodies. He looked at the old knight, he was helpful but his help seemed to come with a disadvantage. The dragon he came with , just stared helplessly at the scene.
Rhett now contemplated. He had to try and stop them.
In some seconds they would be on them.
Rhett shouted:
"Throw me a sword!".
A knight swiftly flung one to the air in his direction and he caught it with ease, holding it very high in the air.
The dragon’s came and Rhett didn’t know if what he was doing would work but he waved his sword to the right...
WHOOOSH!
The dragons fell down.
BOOM!
They fell with a lot of power and Rhett thought he heard some breaking of bones but he prayed it wasn’t theirs.
The dust that came with the fall was many, entering into Haicor’s eyes and making Ash to cough. Dhamsel ducked, nothing really would happen to her by the way since she was in the middle of many knights who acted like her shield.
The dust slowly cleared. It seemed to dissolve into the air and Rhett was the first to see the dragons as he didn’t close his eyes when they were falling. He only squinted them and held his breath. At that point, in the dust, he realized he had grown.
Back when he was just king, he used to be scared and acting like an amateur. But now, he seemed to be an expert, a fearless warrior. He was quite impressed with his growth, noting it was a big change in his demeanor.
The dragons all stood, staring at them.
"It worked and we survived!", Ash shouted.
Rhett stared at the dragons, he was dragon slayer, king!, but now he would have to be a rider. He would have to ride the dragons.
