Chapter 51: The Demons with horns
Chapter 51: The Demons with horns
He tried to see a sign of light, but all he saw was complete darkness, piercing and seeming like it was a burning sensation that had entered his eyes.
’How do I move around here?,’ he thought.
The smell of the place was indeed too pungent he considered puking again. But could he puke in the body of a dead monster?.
He wouldn’t dare, it would be much worse, it would surely triple the scent of the smell. And so he held it in and finally decided to take a step forward.
It felt like he was standing on a cloud. But wouldn’t he just fall?Well, that was what he had been saying before. The texture of the monster’s body was fascinating.
He took two steps forward, pausing again as he heard a moving sound. Didn’t something just move?, well, could have been his eardrums. He continued, without any light, just using his senses, his sword firmly clutched in his hand.
Taking about five steps forward, he paused, hearing the same sounds of moving footfalls. He breathed in and out slowly, the place was too hot and he wanted to be out of it soon.
He looked around him, his eyes scouring the place, trying to see if he could find a reason for sounds. Nothing happened, and so he continued walking. Soon, he plunged into a run, his footfalls hitting the ground hardly. He wiped the sweat hanging off his eyebrow and took a breath in again.
Now, he had to rely on his senses, they were the only things that could help him now. He wasn’t really that good with using his senses and he believed that would be a problem now.
He suddenly felt scared and not knowing what to do, how would he survive in this place when he couldn’t use his senses.
[WAVE YOUR SWORD TO THE RIGHT]
He heard, it was a sweet angelic voice, similar to the one he had heard when he had slayed the Ember dragon.
It sounded delicate and entering into his ear, it felt like the buzzing of a bee.
Rhett quickly complied and waved his sword to the right, his grip on it more tighter. A light from thin air scintillated and appeared in front of him. It was quick and it made Rhett start back a bit.
He could see now, and even though the light illuminated thinly, it was light nonetheless and finally, his eyes would be free of the piercing darkness.
He examined the place, finally getting a better view of it. It was quite large and foggy stuff hung in the air, floating and moving silently around him. He squinted his eyes as he gazed around the place, trying to grasp the surrounding.
Then, he heard the noise again, this time it baffled him and turning to look, he saw a big dark creature.
Rhett eyes popped wide open.
Hell!, it was a demon.
From shadows to demons?, what was this coming to?
It had a horn, like a goat.
Rhett moved back a bit and held his sword very tightly, ready to fight. He was going to slay it, he believed that. It was just one, he had bigger and more deadlier creatures than this so what could the harm be in facing this one.
The demon smiled, revealing its white set of teeths in a completely dark mouth. Rhett studied its face. It had a nose, but it looked abnormal. It looked like two holes at the lower part of its eyes and the lips? They were just a line, a white line actually if which is open, would reveal white teeths with a dark mouth overall.
Rhett was about to go after it. It was just one, he could handle it, he could defeat it, he could...
Another movement and then they became two. Rhett almost shouted. He was still trying to swallow in the fact that they were...
...he was now seeing four.
Now, they carried different shapes of horns on their heads. One was with a cow’s horn, one with a bull’s and they all had different types and shapes of horns.
Now, they were seven and that sent a sensational feeling down his spine. He was tempted to run away but thought it a bad idea. He remembered when he was still back on earth, how his mother used to pray against them, when they would go to church and bind and cast them to some bottomless abyss.
Now he was facing a demon. Wouldn’t his mother be proud? Wouldn’t she say; ’Oh my son is now fighting demons?’.
The demons attacked him. With a swift, calculating motion, he moved sideways, his eyes carrying a hint of fear. He hit his sword at a demon, it used its horns to stop it and kicked Rhett by his stomach, making him dive backwards swiftly with the motion of a spear in the air.
Rhett’s sword had fallen down now and he could only hold his stomach, breathing hard.
The demons paused and then started to move around him in circles.
"We will sacrifice you to the demon goddess and bring this soul eater back to life, your soul will be needed to revive its soul!", a demon said in a spiteful voice.
Rhett sighed, he gave up. So this was the end, the end of his damn life, the end of this warrior royalty. He heaved another sigh and tried to see if he could at least talk it out with the demons.
"Spare my f**kin life. I’m King, I’m king of the dragon slayers!".
The demons exchanged glances and laughed.
"But you’re not king of the demon slayers, so what makes you think you’ll have a chance against us", a demon asked.
Rhett smiled.
’Well, soon I will’, he thought. ’Soon I’ll rule you all and make each and everyone of you suffer’.
The demon that had been speaking before picked up Rhett’s sword and threw it, face down, upwards. It used its tongue to catch it. Its long, venomous looking tongue.
Rhett held the side of his stomach, watching the scene, he didn’t know what he was in for but now, he was getting to know.
The demon let it off its tongue and walked towards Rhett who was slowly crawling back.
"Any last words?", the demon asked. It was actually carrying a bull horn.
"Any last words from the king of the dragon slayers?".
